~ ~ I believe that there is one absolutely tried and tested solution to this problem, but unfortunately being castrated before puberty seemed a somewhat drastic step to take, so therefore it would appear I am stuck with this situation for (hopefully) some years to come. I am more than a little fond of my face, so it is important to me that the weapon I use on it does its allotted task efficiently and effectively, without leaving me looking like an extra from the film “Scarface”, or like a stand-in for the horror movie star Boris Karloff.
~ ~ Now there are different ways in which this shaving operation can be undertaken. You can purchase an electric razor, where dozens of tiny little blades are vibrated at speed by a little motor, thus slicing through and removing the offending hair. I have tried various and multifarious varieties of this tool over the years, but have yet to find one which gives me the same smooth finish which I can achieve by using the more traditional razor blade.
~ ~ In my recent op about Bic disposable razors, I outlined what razor I most DEFINITELY don't use to perform this somewhat tiresome daily duty. So in this opinion I'll tell you what razor I do like to scrape over my face of a morning.
~ ~ My preferred weapon of choice for about the last three years is the “Contour Plus” from Gillette. This has twin blades, the idea being that, if their adverts are to be believed, the “first shaves you close, and the second shaves you closer still”. In fairness, it seems to do what it promises. It has a removable head, or cartridge, so that when the razor is beginning to get blunt, and leaving your face feeling like it has been dragged through charcoal and then whipped with a holly branch, all you need do is throw it away and attach another. The “contour” bit means that the head is not fixed, but swivels to give a better contact with the surface of the face, even the funny shaped bits, (I have a fair few of these) thus resulting in a closer and smoother shave.
~ ~ As a general rule of thumb I get about a week or so from a blade, so with them coming in packs of five, I can get around a month’s shaving without a return visit to the chemist. (or supermarket) I can't honestly remember exactly what the razor itself cost me, as I've had it for about three years or so, but it was certianly under a fiver. The refills are not too expensive, (about £3.50) and if you are the real cheapskate variety of fella, you can even buy the “Boots the Chemist” alternative, although in my opinion your face will be the loser, even if your pocket gains.
...using something as good as Gillette Contour. The blade shaves well.
The lubricated twin blade swivel heads are quite expensive - but they last a long time. I would say you could get five reasonable shaves out of each one.
I find there's very little 'after burn' with such a sharp razor, and I have never had a nick from one. (obviously - and if any female is reading this wondering why their fella has neck like raw steak after his shave, here's a ... ...blade is more than sharp enough to shave closely in that direction- you gain only shredded skin by going against the 'grain', and greatly increase your chances of 'nicks')
Use Gilette gel in conjunction with the Gilette blade and you have a pretty impressive duo. Quick, clean, safe, close shaves. If you have to shave everymorning before work- try this. ...

...i recently bought the razor gillette for my husband from the local chemist. Being a muslim we have to shave our pubic area whether male or female so we thought why not try the gillette for the job.
My husband used it the first time the poor guy had cuts all over his pubic area and was frustrated and demanded me to take it back. i refused as i beleive its unhygenic for them to try and re-sell such a product after it was used but my husband insisted.

Advantages: Sheer, unadulterated shaving joy. Disadvantages: Not a single thing. Oh, all right then. The blades are a bit on the pricey side.
the extent that if I am going out for the evening, or contemplating any naughty business with her indoors, I actually have to shave again in the evening. (She says my whiskers give her a rash!! Imagine.)
~ ~ Up until the beginning of this week, my weapon of choice for scraping the old bristles was the GilletteContourPlusrazor.
This is a twin-bladed device, and has given me many years of faithful and stout service, without hacking the old features to total ribbons.
But the advent of the non-paying categories here at Ciao last month has meant I have found myself reading an avalanche of opinions recently about toiletries, shampoos, deodorants, and razors. (not to mention the new food and drink section)
One razor that seems to be almost universally praised by nearly all the Ciaoites is the new one from Gillette, called the “Mach 3 ...
Advantages: Not too bad a shave. Cheap. Lubrastrip prevents too many nicks and cuts. Disadvantages: Not as good a shave as with a "swivel-head" razor.
~ ~ I?ve been happily using a Gillette Mach 3 Razor for the past couple of years now, since I finally succumbed to the seductive and persuasive TV advertising, which promises you the closest and smoothest shave of your life.
My old GilletteContourPlus (twin bladed) razor was relegated to the darkest reaches of the bathroom cabinet, as I discovered the unbridled joy of cutting away my facial bristles with three blades.
~ ~ OK. Maybe I?m being a tad effusive in my praise of the Mach 3, but in all honesty, it does actually live up to the claims the manufacturer makes for it fairly well, and gives you a close (and nick-free) shave that is second to none.
So you can imagine my shock and horror when I realised on my way to the airport on our recent short break to Paris that I?d forgotten to pack my trusty Mach 3 after shaving that ...

of my anatomy began to rapidly develop.
In my time, I have used various different implements to achieve this task successfully, starting out with the ordinary old Gillette single razor blades that you used to buy in the barbers along with your other “manly” requirements, and progressing to electric razors, and then back again to the old reliable “wet” shave.
I never really took to the electric method very much, as I have what could be described as a heavy growth, and I quite simply found that I could never find an electric razor, no matter how expensive, that could give me the same close shave that I could achieve by the older, more traditional method.
~ ~ My current “weapon of choice” is the GilletteContourPlus twin-blade razor, which I’ve been using for about the last three years or so.
