Having received a sample to try, my hubby thought he'd give this razor a go to see if the advertising really could get him to change from the bog standard replaceable single blade Gillette razor he's been using for years. As all women will know, whatever razor hubby uses is the one that we girlies will 'borrow' from time to time, so obviously as soon as he tested it I did likewise!!
The razor comes attractively packaged in heat sealed plastic showing the contents clearly (but always a scissors job to open!). The razor comes with a plastic stand which has storage on the back for extra blades. The razor itself is a metallic colour with a blue and orange inlays and is quite modern and attractive in appearance. Blades are removed and attached in the usual way (a button on the back) - there is also a single blade on the back of the blade head for use as a trimmer.
The Gillette Fusion sells in the shops for £7.49 for the manual, and £9.99 for the Power. It is the manual razor being reviewed here. The blurb says the Gillette Fusion razor is the latest in the Gillette range - part of a new 3 part shaving 'system' including a shaving gel and aftershave balm (reviewed separately). The blade head itself has 5 blades, a lubricator strip and a shaving guard at the base.
The razor is nice and lightweight (a change from the usual old heavy one that's for sure!), and does glide very smoothly indeed. Hubby tried it out first and was very impressed - his face really was very smooth, and I certainly didn't feel any stubble on him for quite a while afterwards. No rash, and a good clean shave. And me? Yes, I like it very much too - it is a good smooth shave and the razor glides very well. We both agreed that it would be quite difficult to actually cut yourself with this razor (which, for the likes of me, has to be a point in its favour!!).
Overall a very smooth, close shave and Gillette may have possibly converted hubby ..... as long as he is willing to stump up the £7.49 for four replacement blades!! It seems in the world of mens shaving products that you certainly get what you pay for!!

We ended up getting two of these to sample which hubby thought was great .... no more having to borrow his!! Only now, after about 6 - 7 weeks use is the blade on my razor starting to blunt .... and still no cuts at all. For the men, hubby's lasted about 3 - 4 weeks before it needed changing and his second (and only other) blade is just getting blunt now. We're seriously tempted to buy replacement blades, even at £7.99 for four as in all honesty this really is a very very good product which we would both recommend to everyone.
