Bloke with goatee: “We need to come up with something and quick”

...it is quite confusing, King Gillette invented the safety razor in 1901, but apparently Wilkinson Sword introduced safety razors in 1898, 3 years before they were invented, now that is anticipation! If anyone knows the truth please let me know! I’ve managed to piece together most of the improvements from the main players, Gillette and Wilkinson Sword. 1971 – Gillette - Trac II – The first twin blade razor
1977 – Gillette - Atra – Razor with a pivoting ... ...for increased safety
1994 – Gillette - SensorExcel – Adding micro fins to raise hair
1995 – Wilkinson Sword - FX Performer – Razor with flexible blades
1998 – Gillette - Mach3 – The first 3 blade razor
1998 – Wilkinson Sword - Protector 3D – offering 3 dimensional movement
1999 – Wilkinson Sword - FX Diamond – alpha diamond coated blades

...and will be about the Gillette M3 power, but first I would like to write a little about shaving first, the reason will become clearer further in the review.
As little boys grow into men we start to develop facial hair, we are also quite shy about it, some of us shave at the first sign of a hair, others resort to plucking the one odd hair as it appears, still others try to grow a moustache with the wispy stuff, not realising that instead of it looking ... ...a satisfied user of the Gillette Mach 3, so what would make me try the M3 power? Was it the promise of the vibrations? Was it the snazzy luminous green colour? Well none of the above is the answer, it was a simply a question of special offer. Yep a bargain a day and all that.
When I compared the Mach 3 and the power, all the only difference that I could see (apart from the aforementioned colour) was a button on the front, as well as a space in the ...

Advantages: You'll get a very close and comfortable shave. Disadvantages: The cost of the razor and replacement blades is around double standard razors.
...saw the advertisements for the Gillette M3 Power razor, my first thoughts were that it was just another gimmick. Backed by international footballer, David Beckham, and a huge budget, you couldn't escape the publicity anywhere ! Normally I wouldn't be taken in by the claims but, for once, I thought I'd give this razor a try following recommendations from my brother.
The razor started pack costs around £8.99, and this contains the handle, two blades ... ...in the past, and the Gillette M3 Power surpasses either of these methods !
So, if the razor is this good, why do I award it only four stars ? Well, there are some small critisms...
The main downside of this razor is the cost. At around £8.99, it is much more expensive than a comparable standard razor. The other major price difference is the cost of replacement blades, which again are around double the price of standard blades - yet appear no different ...

Advantages: Sexy looks, close shave Disadvantages: Very expensive, no better than unpowered version
I've been a Gillette Mach 3 man for many years now, occasionally straying off the beaten path to try a competitive brand for a change, but always returning to the trusty Mach 3.
Wilkinson Sword's Quattro and other leading competitors leave me with a Clint Eastwood-esque stubble which, though it might look cool, means my wife won't let me do anything intimate to her for fear of being savaged by a Brillo Pad. Gillette's Mach 3 range, however, leaves ... ...head to toe.
Since Gillette launched the Mach 3, many different versions have been released, including the Turbo, the Champion, a James Bond 007 spin-off and an England football supporters' version, all of which I've had except the football one... (I stuck with the Champion version for ages, simply because it's Ferrari red.) All of them work on the same principle: three blades, specially positioned for a closer shave; pivotal neck so that the blades ...

Advantages: Smooth Shave and Manly Advertising Disadvantages: Price and I missed Half of the Worlds Greatest Explosions
...of that they have what Gillette call power glide blades, I ask you how much more testosterone could the fit into that description? Probably not much more. These are specially coated blades which according to Gillette give incredible glide and comfort, and a lubristrip with vitamin E and Aloe Vera; because men are really a bunch of big Jessie's who are scared to wax their face. I have waxed my face on one occasion and do not recommend the experience. ... ...3 turbo cartage so it is the same one that you use for the standard Turbo Mach 3 Razor which costs around about a fiver for 4 or 5 cartages.
Anyway onto the general shaving experience, imagine me sitting at home watching "The Worlds Greatest Explosions" with a couple of days growth and this lands on my lap, a very subtle hint from my better half. So off I went to shave…. The vibration is not as disconcerting as I expected and is actually pretty ...

...if the early morning homing device is not fully engaged.
Then on entering the bathroom and after responding to the call of nature the next step is the wet shave; And yet too often we are deprived of this masculine ritualistic right for on the sink lies the sad remnants of the GilletteM3power blades razor… its ability to vibrate at the touch of a button long spent, its green luminous go faster stripes tarnished and its blade once shining with the lustre of highly polished steel to a precisely engineered pin-point edge, desecrated… and why? The better-half "borrowed it."
There is a straight forward response to this phenomena being to constructively challenge the better-half… however the outcome of such a brave venture usually entails a constructive dismissal to the sofa for an undetermined number of nights as well as discovering that a mans...
