Ok mort must of gone nuts ladies and gents as this is his second op of the day for the first time in ages. But there is a good reason for this you see littlemissy is back today and I have to look my best don’t I? So its time to do a bit of early afternoon personal grooming(the only reason its early afternoon is because I overslept a bit). S
Anyway I have showered, trimmed the goatee, now comes the finally stage of mort’s personal grooming regimen the shave. Now I have to say that until recently I was using your common or garden disposable razor as provided by a number of high street stores. However the thing is though that they never really did the job that well so I decided that maybe I would have to do a razor upgrade.
So the hunt began for a razor that would hit the criteria that I needed which was essentially a nice close shave. Now, of course, lot of razors say they can do this but every one I tried was not hitting the spot for a number of reasons:
I had rough patches
Lots of cuts
Skin became really itchy (even though I was using sensitive skin gel)
I was beginning to think that there was no razor that would hit the spot when I finally found the perfect item for me. The Gillette Mach 3 razor (as if you had not already guessed)! At the reasonable price of £3.99 with two spare blades it sounded like a good deal. But the real test, of course, would come in the bathroom.
Finally at home I actually had a look at my latest grooming product and I have to say it looks pretty swanky. With its steel core and styled rubber wrap you do get an incredibly good grip with enough weight in it so you know you are holding quality. It does feel so reliable.
The actual blade itself is quite a change itself. First of all it has three blades placed in-between the now typical lubastrip at the top (is that right?) and weird rubber bit with 5 ridges at the bottom. Hmmm… (what’s that there for?) the blade also has the spring mechanism built in. Which is as far as I know a major change and has about flexibility through about 70 degrees, which is great for men with distinguished features. Attaching the blade to the handle is about the best I have seen as well just push the handle button and watch the blade fly. Then simply just clip on a new blade! All it takes is a couple of seconds, which makes life a ickle (little) bit easier.
But I hear you asking what was the shave like?
Actually very, very good! I had no problems at all. The razor blades were incredibly easy to clean out as well afterwards even if you leave your shave a couple of days. My skin felt incredibly smooth afterwards something I have not felt since I was a young snapper (I cannot believe I used that phrase) and in the mirror I looked good with no small cuts either. I have to say ladies and gents the Mach 3 is a little gem.
Then the true beauty of this razor showed itself in their durability. One razor lasted me for a couple of months!!! So the cost effectiveness of the Mach 3 showed itself in the fact that if I bought a pack of ten disposables they would last me a couple of weeks. While this baby lasted me 3 months! Then I saw my one problem with the Mach 3 when the razors ran out:(
I went to my local chemist to get some more blades for it and saw how much 5 blades cost and nearly screamed at the price. They were charging over £5 for them! So what did I do in response you may ask? I bought another starter pack. It was easier as I am not paying that much for fresh blades and have been doing so ever since. I currently have a collection of about four handles, which will be growing again shortly:)
But the big question is does the lady like the way it makes me feel?
A resounding yes and that is all that matters in the end:) As I threw away the packet I haven’t got the full info on it so if you wanna find out more check out this link which includes info on the next generation Mach 3 Turbo as well.
