5) Always try to shave in the direction of hair growth (less drag, hence less razor burn).
If you have read my opinion on other hair removal products, you will be fully aware how rarely I shave, instead I tend to use sugaring (like waxing) and I am not really some hairy monster from Dr. Who! Only in extreme emergencies do I shave and this happened to me last week. My regular beauty therapist was away on holiday and my hubby had arranged to take me away for a couple of nights. I had to remove the unsightly, unwanted body hair and fast! What was I to do?

Shaving Tips for Women leading to Best Results
1) Always shave with a fresh clean blade.
2) Soften skin and body hairs with plenty of warm water.
3) For best results apply a shaving cream to the skin, before shaving. Gillette recommends their Satin Care Shave Gel. This helps to reduce friction on the skin, allowing the razor to glide over the skin effortlessly.
4) Start at the easiest area and work up to the hard to reach points, such as the armpits or knees.
5) Always try to shave in the direction of hair growth (less drag, hence less razor burn).
6) Do not press the razor to hard to the skin.
7) Rinse the blade when it gets clogged with hair and thoroughly after use. Pat dry with a cotton cloth and leave to air dry.
8) Store unused blades in the medicine cabinet, to keep dry and secondly to be out of the reach of children and pets.
Replacement blades and Satin Care Shave Gel along with the Gillette’s Sensor Excel Razor for Women are available in most chemists and supermarket stores. The kit that I brought from an independent chemist cost me £4.99 and came with one spare blade. It is not the cheapest female razor on the market today, but it does give an excellent shave. I was able to swim and dine out in style with out the other clientele gaping in horror!
Advantages: Sexily smooth legs Disadvantages: Having to replace the blades so often
I've used Gillette razors since i started shaving my legs as a naive little 12 year old. I previously owned a Gillette Sensor razor, but have since upgraded to the newer, slightly more classy, Sensor Excell. The difference? Not actually a great deal, except the Excell come in a choice of 3 funky colours-silver, pink and purple. I obviously chose the purple! (Not that it makes much difference to the shaving capability, but its nice to co-ordinate ... ...4.99, which is comparable with most other womens razors. I do find, however, that the refill blades are quite expensive, at about 4.50 for 5, since you need to change them quite regularly. The razor itself has a fantastic anti-slip grip handle, which makes life in the shower so much more easy! The only problem i find with this though, is the fact it can start to go black and icky (as in mouldy) if you leave the razor in the moist shower environment ...

Advantages: Leaves my legs smooth Disadvantages: Expensive blades
On television they state that Gillette is the best a man can get. Obviously they forget that us girls need the help of a razor from time to time. Granted it is for a different area and a different job but we still need to rely on the blade.
Thankfully, I discovered the answer to smooth legs thanks to my hubby. He has been a Gillette user for years and I noticed he always feels the smoothest when he has used his Sensor razor.
I decided to investigate ... ...replacements.
There are a range of matching gels that moisturise as well as soften the skin when shaving made by Gillette. I find these give a better shave when used with this razor.
I think the Gillette Sensor is simply the best woman's tailored razor on the market today. ...

Advantages: Aloe vera strip moisturises skin Disadvantages: Expensive
...you can go to Asda, however, and buy 5 women’s disposable razors with aloe vera strip for about £1.50, forking out for the Gillette and its refills isn’t worth it. As a complete miser, I don’t mind risking the occasional minor cut for the sake of saving a few quid. ...

Advantages: ncie looking, reliable Disadvantages: blades wear out pretty fast
This razor is not a bad razor, the design is such that you have an excellent grip on the razor and in my many years of using this product, i have never lost grip on it before. When used with a new blade, the shave is extremely close and regrowth takes a few days to show, however, with anything less than a new blade, the shave is definitely not as close as one would like.
The razor itself looks quite funky and thatis one reason why i chose it above ...

Advantages: the colour, works well Disadvantages: none
After deciding I needed to get a new razor I looked around the shops to find a suitable one. Whilst in Boots I saw the Gillete Sensor for women razor and decided to give it a try. This razor looked better than any of the others that I saw on offer and so my hardest decision about buying it was what colour should I buy it in? Handily for women, Gillete have created three new very pretty razors, one in pink, one in blue and one in an icy white colour. ... ...Overall I found this razor to be excellent quality. It was small enough to fit handily into a small space to carry around, it also worked very well and didn't irritate my skin at all. New blades for these razors are azailable everywhere and so are the razors, so they are definitely not hard to get hold of. THey are excellent quality and great value for money. I would definitely reccomend these. ...

at the razor in its packaging. It looked very different. I use a GilletteSensorExcel for Women and have done for the past few years, so looks-wise they are like chalk and cheese.
Razor description

The Venus razor has a wide, flattish white (razor) end. The handle is light blue in colour and the plastic has a frosty look about it. The underside of the handle, where you hold while using it, has a rubber grip along half the length of the handle. Very nice design - there's no chance of it slipping out of your hands while your in the shower!
Now let me discuss the blade. In fact there are three blades, which help give the extra smooth shave! On either side of the blades are rubber protection strips to help prevent any cuts. Also there is a blue strip near the blades that helps to identify when the blades need changing. I ...
