Background:
I cannot find anything pleasurable in shaving. It is one of the jobs me have to really do. I always shave first thing in the morning and it wakes me up that for sure. Yet as a young child I couldn’t wait to be able to do it, I would watch my father and think I would one day be able to do that.
In the past 20 or so years I have tried different ways of removing my chin hair and also lots of contrasting products. One of the choices was an electric shaver, but for me this didn’t work as I found the shave wasn’t close enough and left my chin region irritable. Since then I have tended to prefer the traditional shaving foam method also with varying success but never with very much enjoyment.
About Gillette:
The Gillette Company were founded back in 1901 as a safety razor manufacturer; by 1916 they had developed their first razor for women. Their success has been enhanced by a very successful and prolonged television advertising campaign. In 2005 Procter & Gamble acquired this Boston based company.
Gillette has been making grooming products for decades. Even when I was little their name was synonymous with razors. In those days they made razors that you simply took the blade out and replaced it every so often. Since then they are also successfully marketed disposable razors in 1946. But their product range is far larger than that they make deodorants, moisturisers, scrub and shaving gels.
Even there range of shaving gels is quite expansive, they make a variety of both foams and gels that cater for all types of skin from dry, regular, oily and sensitive. With products either supplied in 200ml or 250ml containers.
Price:
Price has always been my downfall in the past, as I tended not to have any brand or product loyalty. I simply bought the product that was on offer on that particular week. As a result I tried many varying products with equally contrasting results.
Currently at my local supermarket this product is on sale for £1.79 for the 200 ml can. Which is probably a medium price for products in this field. The cheapest is the Tesco’s own label foam at just £0.34 and goes up to Nivea gel that costs £4.15.
The product:
Gillette gel for sensitive skin is stored in an effective green, sliver and black airtight aluminium container. It has the famous Gillette logo clearly on the front and is a very clear and easy to read writing on the front. The product has a clear cap, which simply pulls easily off and the product can be easily administered by pressing the button on the top of it and the gel comes out of the plastic nozzle. I am surprised it is not some sort of safety design to prevent young children opening and playing with this, but the gel comes out slowly and I don’t believe could be accidentally be sprayed in the eyes.
On the back of the tine is one of my pet hates details of the product in a variety of different languages. It does not specifically tell you how to administer the product, but has a safety warning and tells you not to store in direct sunlight or in temperatures above 50 degrees C. At the bottom there is also a list of ingredients used to make this.
When I tried this product I found the bright greeny-blue gel was easy to get out of the tin. It is neither runny nor is it a solid substance. It had a fresh clear and minty smell that I found fresh and very pleasant.
I put a small amount of the gel on my hand then onto my already wet face. Where with a gentle rub it turns into a white foam. It easily covers your face and does not run at all, leaving a coating of foam that consistently covers the beard area. It was cooling and soothing on my skin when it came into contact with it and felt strangely satisfying.
I found the gel helped me produce a high quality shave, because of the white gel covering all my chin region I also discovered all my stubble was taken off quickly and very effectively and I was left with a clear and smooth surface, that also felt clean and fresh and made me feel confident.
The residue of the cream easily came off simply with water, leaving me feeling good and confident, plus I smelt pleasant. The result is a very high quality shave that also makes me invigorated and keen and enthusiastic for the day ahead, knowing I have given myself a positive and good start.
Experience has taught we this product does not leak like some of the foams that I have tried around the nozzle area and any gel can be easily washed away if pressed by accident. I also find and it could be psychological but I do not cut myself so much with this gel. This could be because of its even administration on my skin or that I just take more care but it certainly is a bonus.
Having tried many shaving foams and gels. I find this product is best for me because it produces a good shave and it makes my skin feel nice without irritating it in the slightest.
While shaving for me as most men will never be a pleasure this product does at least make it a slightly easier and less problematic. I don't think I have ever cut myself since using this product when with the cheaper creams and gels I have on many occasions.
For me there are no negative features about this product, just a consistent good product that helps to make my life a little easier.

Conclusion:
I really recommend this as a fantastically effective grooming product. It is kind to your skin and feels good on application to the sensitive skin. It helps to produce a good quality shave that leaves me feeling fresh and ready to take on the world, knowing my face is as clean and clear as it can be. It certainly makes me feel refreshed and confident to take on the world again.
And yes sadly for me it is the best a man can get!!

Having never used a shaving foam before I was still a bit skeptical as to whether this would help my irritated legs but given the fact that in Bodycare it was only £1.99 I thought it was worth ago. Satin Care is also available in Boots and most leading supermarkets but at the more costly sum of £2.99.

...Not any more however, as Gillette have produced a shave gel for sensitive skin which promises to be “Anti Nicks & Cuts”.
Now I admit, I was a bit sceptical about this, how could this possibly work and I admit that my main reason for buying it was that it was only £1.89 in Asda for the 195g can. Does it actually work?

I use a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo Razor and Gillette Shaving Gel for Sensitive Skin. This Shaving Gel is by no means the cheapest brand on the market and at around £1.89 for a 200ml can it is probably at the upper end of the price scale but is something that I have bought consistently over the years. I have also tried Shaving Foams too, including Gillette, but I have found that I really can't get on with these at all. The Gel is definitely a lot ...

...their formation by King C Gillette in 1901 Gillette have been innovators in facial hair care and removal. Their products which include Oral-B and Braun are among the most respected around the world. In October of 2005 The Gillette company was purchased by Procter and Gamble, although they still trade under the Gillette name. Recently however their reputation took a little bit of a tumble, apparently they have been caught placing spy cams in supermarkets ... ...Anyway I digress, I buy Gillette because the quality of the products is excellent and although they are slightly more expensive than other popular brands I do think they are worth in in certain circumstances. The can is coloured in the usual turquoise colour which has become synonymous with Gillette. ...

Advantages: cuts down friction on face not relationship Disadvantages: Its no better than all the others really
...this product as a ‘gel’, Gillette are hoping to portray a ‘trendy’ image. But to be perfectly honest, other than the initial appearance of the stuff, it differs very little from ordinary shaving foam. It does the job adequately, but not exceptionally. It does cut down on the friction but not on cuts, It does make your skin feel smooth, but so do they all! It makes you smell ‘clean’, they all make you smell clean! I would purchase it again, but only ... ...me!
As for my hairy girlfriend, she came back about half an hour later, grabbed the can and stomped off with it. Screaming the immortal words “hey ass face, if you don’t want it, I’ll have it!” and she’s been using it ever since!
So what have I learned about this product, well it turns ladies legs into a vision to behold and made my face look like a bottom!
I have been reliably informed that this 200 milliltre
can of Gel costs £1.79 from Tescos!

Reviews which might be of interest for "Gillette Shaving Gel Sensitive Skin"
Advantages: Good clean cut Disadvantages: Can't think of any.
Even though I originally bought my husband the Mach 3 razor, i thought I would try it myself for shaving my legs.
Ugh you might say but I did put a new blade in.
I must admit my legs were really smooth afterwards and didn't cut myself at all, I even used it for my arm pits.
My husband thinks it is great as since I bought it for him he hasn't cut himself.
Shaving days used to be a bloody mess, pardon the pun.
Remember to use a decent ShaveGel , we use a sensitiveskin range from Gillette.
Afterwards it is a good idea to use an aftershave balm to close up the pores.
Give it a try. ...
Advantages: Decently constructed razors, 3 blade action Disadvantages: Not the best quality shave
used this with GilletteGelSensitiveSkin as the lubricating agent for my face, as on previous razor reviews.
The first shave is usually OK, quite smooth with not too much effort required, although it's quite usual to get a couple of nicks. The problem with nicks gets slightly worse as the usage continues. For a lazy sod like me, who shaves only a few times and week and ends up with lots of tough stubble, the performance goes downhill from there, with lots of hairs getting stuck between the 3 blades. Usually with multiple blades you can in some way eke these hairs out with perhaps the plastic protection cover of the razor, but this doesn't seem to work in this case, and much rinsing under the tap ensues, usually to not much effect. Both have pivoting heads which helps keep a contour on the face.
The blade itself seems to be quite strong ...
Advantages: it does what it says on the can Disadvantages: none
This is a product that I have only just recently had the need to use, it is not that I have suddenly at the ripe old age of 38 just started to shave rather a temporary change in my health and my living situation means that I can, for the next eight weeks at least, no longer shave in the shower as is my normal practice. The benefit of wet shaving whilst in the shower is that I have never suffered from a shaving rash before. I always use the same Gillette razors and shavinggel for sensitiveskin.
Now I find myself washing in a hard water area with no option to shave in the shower as my leg is encased in a caste for the next few weeks. After a couple of days I found that I was getting a rash and my skin was very angry looking. Hence the purchase of the Simple post shave cooling balm.
