For years I used to use any old razor, then I moved onto to Craig’s razors Gillette Blue II, which were a big improvement, but then someone went and bought Craig a gift set including a Gillette Mach III, at that point he put his foot down and bought me my very own gift set which included a Gillette Venus razor.
Now as I have always used disposables so this seemed a bit strange, the idea of changing blades kind of freaked me out a bit at first, as admittedly I liked the idea of just chucking it away when I was finished.
However, the colour was very appealing to me, a nice shade of blue that can only be described as aquamarine, has a nice easy grip handle which is great because when your hands are wet with the shaving, it gives you much more control so you are less likely to make mistakes and probably most of us will no doubt be aware how those little mistakes can nip like hell. But these shouldn’t really happen with this razor as it sports three blades for a closer shave which are fitted with a protective barrier and it’s even got a aloe vera strip which fades through usage and sits adjacent to the blades to help protect your skins natural moisture, the fact it fades through usage is great because it lets you know when you need a new blade.
It even comes in it’s very own little case with stickers attached (so you can stick to the wall in your shower) and compartments inside to store new blades which are all individually hygienically sealed to keep your aloe vera strip fresh.
The first time I used I have to say I was very impressed indeed, it just glided over my legs with hardly any effort whatsoever, you don’t even feel the razor on your legs (at any point), the head moves so you can accommodate all those little nooks and crannies (even behind the bends at your ankle) and I also found I didn’t have to go back over some areas as I had done previously and the best bit no little nippy cuts on my skin, even under my arms and I usually always have cuts there!
Now I have to say at this point that I have never been left with a smoother and softer finish on my skin and not even a cut insight, wow I’m in love!
I must have got about 3-4 uses before I had to change the blade and at this point Craig was taking the mickey out of me cause I asked for his help, obviously I hadn’t realised just how simple it really was, there is a little blue button toward the head, you simply just press and this releases the used blade, thus making way for your new blade which just clicks into place.
It was when I went to buy new replacement blades that I got a shock £5.49 for a pack of 4 replacement blades, I hesitated at first thinking it wasn’t worth it, but then I thought to myself “Am I Mad – no cuts and nice smooth legs” and gritted my teeth and purchased!
The Venus razor itself costs around £5.79 but it does come with a razor attached and a further 2 replacement blades to get you started, I would definitely recommend you chuck away those nasty disposables and give this a go, you’ll never look back.
You can purchase razor itself and replacement blades at most supermarkets, chemists etc.
So a big thank you to Craig for buying me and thanks to you for reading, take care Heather:)
Advantages: Easy, quick, very close shave, takes longer for hairs to grow back, no cutting or nicking Disadvantages: Replacement blades a bit pricey
Hairy legs just aren't attractive. No matter how much some of these 'new women' protest that it's natural and demand that we all bin wax, razors, depilatory creams, etc - it's just not going to happen!
- Waxing: too painful, too expensive
- Depilatory creams: Time-consuming, smelly
- Sugaring: I'd rather eat it
- Epilators: Only for the very stupid or very brave
So you can see, the best option for me is a razor! Before I bought the Venus, I ... ...painful nicks and were generally rubbish quality.
This might seem quite expensive, initially, at £5 for the razor and more for replacement blades, but trust me, it's an investment, and the best £5 you'll ever spend! If you're very conscious of how things look, the Venus, as well as blue, comes in pink and a limited-edition white.
It comes in one of those plastic capsule things which are hell to open - I broke two nails trying to open it, and ended ...

...is just as simple………………
The Gillette For Women Venus Razor.
I, like most women, saw the adverts promising to make you feel like a goddess. Probably still like other women I thought it was just the latest in a long line of gimmicks, getting women to buy over priced shaving products, made especially for them. So for a while I continued to use my husband’s Wilkinson Sword.
Until I read someone’s opinion ... ...I was looking to buy a new razor, as the one I was using had bars on the blades. This I found made cleaning difficult, especially as I use shaving oil as opposed to foam or gel.
So, why do I think it’s the answer to every woman’s dreams? Well, okay it isn’t quite, but it’s close. Finally somebody has actually taken into account the needs of a woman when it comes to shaving, and that strangely enough those needs are not the ...

I chose the Venus razor because (unlike a lot of the other razors in Boots) you could get the replacement blades with your Advantage Points. I trotted along to the counter, razor in hand and clutching my card only to discover that I would be able to get free Shaving Gel – I was a ...

Advantages: nice design, usful storage case Disadvantages: expensive
Gillette is running a series of commercials at the moment for a new razor that caught my eye and I thought I would try the Venus out.
400 million women in the world use a safety razor as their method of hair removal, myself included. In the UK only about 40% of women use a model of razor that is designed for a woman, which leaves a massive 60% using a razor designed for shaving the face and not legs and underarms (in other words they are nicking ... ...3.
So why are Gillette trying to convert the female population to a female razor. I think the answer comes when you compare the prices of the two razors. The mach 3 costs a reasonable £2.97 with four replacement cartridges costing £3.97. The Venus however costs a whopping £5.49 with the replacement cartridges costing £5.99.
Yes the colour and case are very nice Gillette but not worth an extra £2.52. I think when I run out of blades I shall be converting ...

Advantages: A smooth shave, lasts for ages so good value for money, aesthetically pleasing (but not pink!), indicator strip, NO CUT LEGS!!! Disadvantages: Still have to shave quite regularly so no better than most other wet razors, not portable.
I was quite annoyed when the Gilette Venus razor was launched. I had been in the dark ages for some time and had been using an original Gilette Sensor for women for a few years (during which time I had a brief flirtation with salon waxing and a slightly longer relationship with an epilator – that’s another story, told in one of my earlier ops!), and it was only recently that I had updated my shaving equipment and bought a Gilette Sensor Excel. I ... ...my first packet of blades before, much to my annoyance, the Venus was released. First of all I decided to wait a while before buying one, but on seeing it on special offer in Boots (and after high recommendations from my mother, a recent convert, via the Venus, to wet shaving!) I decided to succumb and purchased my Gilette Venus, which I have now been using for a few weeks.
With the initial purchase, you get the razor itself (i.e. the handle!), ...

Advantages: Leaves you smooth, attractive Disadvantages: pricey!
Shaving has never been appealing to me - as legs get stubbly within 3-4 days. i have tried everything; waxing, hair removing creams........ not a good idea. Waxing is ideal if you have high pain tollerance and can afford to have it done at a salon, but sadly neither of these apply to me.
Gillette for WomenVenus Razor costs around £5.49 and you can get it from boots, superdrug, ect. It comes in a very strong plastic packet, which you can to cut open. It comes in a plastic case with 3 spare baldes. It has a long blue handle with a pale blue grip - this helps stop it slipping when its wet. The razor is long and narrow with a rubbery handle. It is very easy to use. A 4-year-old could work out how to fit the blades on - they just clip on. To remove the blade, you press the dark blue button behind the head of the razor and i just comes off ...

Advantages: Silky Smooth Legs with no cuts or nicks, nice smell Disadvantages: Having to shave in the first place
shaving burn, only silky smooth legs.
It claims to contain Silk, which is the reason behind the no nicks feature. I imagine that the silk assists the razor in gliding over the skin and provides a protective coating to prevent the razor hacking at your legs.
The Aloe Vera in the formula soothes your skin, thus preventing any rash or irritation and the Vitamin E moisturises your skin. However, I still apply my usual moisturiser afterwards.
The back of the can recommends that you use it in conjunction with the Gillette for WomenVenus razor, however, I have been using disposable Wilkinson Sword ladies razors, and have experimented my boyfriends spare Mach 3 and a new blade and have not noticed any difference between the two.
I have also used this under my arms and have not experienced any rash or irritation there either. Even when I ...

Well, Like I have said in my previous op I like the word 'New' on packaging - I'm a sucker for trying out new stuff. Well the gillettevenus razor has been out for a while now and I've debated whether or not I should give it a try (I have had the gillette for women excel razor for ages now). I've seen it in the shops and ummed and arred if I should buy it. I've actually put off purchasing it due to the fact that it is quite pricey.
So, after reading a review on Ciao! earlier this morning on the Venus (which came highly reccommended) I gave in and popped into boots while I was in town. Well for the razor initially it costs £5.99 but if you have time I would reccomend shopping around. I found the exact same in Savers which is just accross the road from boots and it only cost £4.49. Same with the refills, I found them to be ...
