After I finished watching Pretty Little Liars, I wanted a series to watch which wouldn't involve me staying up all night and a mystery which needed solving and Gilmore Girls has always been a show i've enjoyed although before I just watched random episodes rather than from the beginning.

The Gilmore Girls follows a mother and Daughter both named Lorelai Gilmore but the daughter is known as Rory to make things a little easier. Lorelai had Rory at the age of 16, then moved away from her parents who she believed were trying to control her and sets up home in Stars Hollow, she runs and Inn and Rory excels in school. Lorelai and her mother Emily do not have a very good relationship but when Rory gets accepted into chilton school, Lorelai needs her parents help to pay the tuition fee, they agree to pay but on one condition. Lorelai and Rory must attend dinner at their house every friday night and call them at least once a week to update them on how they are both doing. The day before Rory is due to start at Chilton she decides she no longer wants to go and that's because she meets a boy.. Dean. Lorelai is desperate for Rory to not end up like her and have a child at 16. Rory does go to Chilton and there is where she meets Paris. Paris wants to always be the best at everything but Rory is equally as intelligent as her so there is a little rivalry there. Rory misses her old best friend Lane who lives in Stars Hollow with her parents who are very strict. In this season Rory has her first kiss and first boyfriend.
Lorelai manages an Inn with her best friend Sookie, but their dream is to open their own inn. Alongside Lorelai and Sookie is Michel who is french and very sarcastic he does the bare minimum and even complains about that. When Christopher, Rory's Dad turns up completely out the blue it really messes with Lorelai's head, she doesn't know what to think.
Gilmore girls is set in Stars Hollow which is a small little town. Everyone knows everyone and their business in this town. You can't walk down the street without bumping into someone you know.
Gilmore Girls is a tv show I've watched many times, It's not a show you have to religiously watch. It's easy to pick up even if you don't watch all the episodes. I've had the dvd boxset for many, many years and thought it's about time I sat down and watched it from the start all the way through. I love how funny this show can be at times there are many one liners which will have you laughing out loud. Lorelai is also a really funny character she has a comeback for everything, no matter what is said to her, she has a witty response.

21 episodes, with each episode being 45 minutes. This is a very easy season to watch. I really like the 'Rory's Dance' episode and 'Rory's Birthday Party' I love the episodes which show parties and balls which are always fun. Concert Interruptus was a good episode it was the first episode where it showed that Rory could have fun with the girls from Chilton. Rory and Paris got on well and they finally stopped studying.

Casting
Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore
Alexis Bledel as Lorelai "Rory" Gilmore
Melissa McCarthy as Sookie St. James
Scott Patterson as Luke Danes
Keiko Agena as Lane Kim
Yanic Truesdale as Michel Gerard
Kelly Bishop as Emily Gilmore
Edward Herrmann as Richard Gilmore
Jared Padalecki as Dean Forester
Liz Torres as Miss Patty
Liza Weil as Paris Geller
Sean Gunn as Mick / Kirk Gleason
Teal Redmann as Louise Grant
The casting is brilliant. Lorelai and Rory have a great relationship, they are more like best friends than mother and daughter they get on so well. I love that Chad michael murray and Jared Padalecki are in this show. I know both of them from other tv shows and movies and think they are really good actors. Paris Geller is one of my favourite characters she comes across as a know-it-all who doesn't like not getting her own way but she also has a softer side which comes across at times. Paris and Rory have a very odd relationship, they both have the same goals and get along at times but they also seem to be in competition with one another quite a lot. Emily Gilmore is a very strong character who Is quite controlling but I really enjoy watching her scenes.

I love the theme tune to Gilmore Girls, it's so catchy, after the first couple of episodes you'll know it and you wont be able to stop yourself singing a long . It's Called 'Where you lead'

A Great series. Gilmore Girls is the type of show you can watch whilst working or studying. You don't have to pay full attention constantly. If you miss an episode, you can still easily follow. I usually watch this in the evening whilst ironing or whilst doing my accounts. I highly recommend this season it has a great cast with a few very well known actors and an easy to follow storyline.

Manufacturer's product description

Set in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, GILMORE GIRLS is a charming television drama that tells the story of a thirty-something single mother, Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), and her precocious teenage daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), as they navigate their way through the shifting tides of day-to-day life. Lorelai and Rory's relationship is one built out of friendship as much as it is based on maternal love, which allows for more drama and depth than most family shows. This release is a perfect way for fans to remember why they fell in love with the show in the first place, and allows latecomers to discover Lorelai and Rory for the very first time.
