    Advantages Advantages It works fast

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's not a cure.

I have suffered from cold sores since I was 5. They have caused me a lot of pain and distress over the years, most especially when I was a teenager when they seemed particularly painful and unsightly. SO WHAT ARE COLD SORES? :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::: Cold sores are small blisters filled with a clear fluid that appear on the lips and around the mouth and nose. They are caused by the herpes simplex virus which is passed from person to person via saliva or infected bodily fluids (eewwwww!) It is therefore important that those who have a cold sore practice good ... more

Advantages Advantages speeds up healing time

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't offer much in the way of relief from cracked lips

speed up the healing time for those nasty cold sores I unfortunately suffer from cold sores and extremely dry cracked lips whenever I am run down or feeling under the weather. For all long as I can remember I have suffered outbreaks and I never only get one my entire mouth becomes covered in them. They are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) which is the reason some people contract cold sores and some don’t as they simply do not have the virus. Apparently most people contract the virus as small children from being kissed by someone who has it. I curse the person who gave this horrible ... more

Advantages Advantages Works for some people, convenient to carry about

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't work for me, expensive

I have suffered with frequent cold sores ever since I was a teenager and often have a run where I get a cold sore on alternate sides of the lip - as soon as one heals, another erupts on the opposite side! The herpes simplex virus which causes these painful and unsightly sores lies dormant under the skin, until it is triggered by things such as stress, colds or sunlight. I find mine are most prevalent when I am feeling under pressure or rundown and it is then that I seem to have a constant cold sore. After recently having a baby, recovering from pregnancy and feeling the effects of continuous ... more

Advantages Advantages works well, effective cold sore treatment

    Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive

About a few days ago a cold sore seemed to pop up in the corner of my daughter's lower lip. I always fret over the slightest illness that she gets so I quickly dashed to Tesco and picked up a small 2g tube of Zovirax for £1. It seemed really cheap and was a brand I associate with cold sores so I knew it would be ideal. It contains 5% of the active ingredient of acticlovir which is a common antiviral drug and works to get rid of the virus and so heal the cold sore. It comes in a small cardboard box with a long part attached at the back for hanging on the shelf. Opening the box I actually ... more

    Advantages Advantages works well

    Disadvantages Disadvantages initially seems pricey

It was only a couple of years ago that I got my first Cold Sore. I had always heard about people getting them and was glad that I had never had them, but 1 day I got 1 and I seem to now get 1 every 9-12 months roughly. They are so annoying and ugly looking as well. There was only a couple of Cold Sore Creams in my local Supermarket and it seemed to be the brand named one - which is this one, and then a cheaper one. Not knocking the cheaper one as I am sure it does just as good a job but I wanted this ugly looking thing gone as soon as possible. This comes in a tiny little tube - just a 2g tube ... more
