    Alton Glenn Miller or Glenn to everyone that knew him was born on the 1st March 1904 in Clarinda, Iowa to parents Lewis Elmer and Mattie Lou Cavender Miller and was one of four children; he bought his first trombone at the tender age of thirteen whilst his family were living in Grant City, Oklahoma and joined the town band. Glenn attended High School at Fort Morgan, Colorado and studied at the University of Colorado for two years, however lectures got in the way of his love for music and as such he dropped out in order to pursue his dream.     On 15th December 1944, Glenn Miller mysterious disappeared onboard a plane headed for Paris. Neither the plane or Glenn Miller were ever found. There are many theories about what happened to the plane, but no-one really knows for sure. Many think the plane crashed due to bad weather. One theory is that the plane crashed when a fleet of Lancaster bombers jettisoned bombs. The plane caught in the shock waves of the explosions plummeted in the sea – a victim of “friendly fire”.
