I came across this store Go Outdoors about 1 year ago when I went with my partner, he needed some new boots for work and he was told about this place from a friend of his.
It is a store that sells everything to do with outdoors from coats and jackets to tents, any thing to do with camping, fishing equipment, skiing, cycling, caravanning, boots, maps every thing you need.
The store we went to is in Coventry it is situated at Coventry Business Park, Canley Road, just 10 minutes from the NEC which is not to far from us. It had ample parking places, and it is open every day of the week. Monday 10am - 7pm Tuesday 10am - 7pm Wednesday 10am - 7pm Thursday 10am - 8pm Friday 10am - 7pm Saturday 9am - 6pm Sunday 10am-5pm
These are great opening hours especially if you work full time.
Upon entering the huge store which is 50,000 sq ft large you are just amazed by what they have got. Most things are on display and are set out into sections.
The first section you enter is the clothing section, here you can choose from so much, coats, jackets, t-shirts, trousers which include Mens, Womens and Childrens. They have so many to choose from in all sizes and colours. There are well known brands such as Sprayway, Berghaus, Regatta, and Paramo. Some of the clothing has Gore-Tex which offers protection from wind and rain. Also in this section are the boots and shoes. From trainers to walking boots anything you need will be here.
~Camping~
There is a huge section for tents were can find up to 70 tents on display from the small one man tents to the massive 7+ person tents, all are accessible to have a look in and around. You can also get all your accessories to do with camping, sleeping bags, camp beds, huge water containers, torches. Every thing to do with cooking including stoves, barbecues all your pots and pans you will ever need knifes, forks and coolers. They even sell food that is in pouches which you just add boiling water too.
~Caravan~
Apart from the caravan itself they sell absolutely everything from lights to adaptors, Portaloos to towing equipment and all are on full display.
~Climbing~
If you are a keen climber then they have everything you need including all ropes and harnesses. Proper climbing shoes for all weathers including ice climbing. A whole range of different helmets and all the accessories you will need to enjoy and safe and happy climbing experience.
~Fishing~
It has a big section on all sorts of fishing which includes rods and lines and hooks, weights, and even bait. Fishing clothing and bivvys and specialist beds and books.
This store I have found offers you anything you need for outdoors there is a big section on all the maps you need for all different areas along with gps equipment and compasses. I have also found the staff here extrely helpful and will help you in any way you need, and they are experienced. They know what is best to suit your needs. Each time i have been to the store i have found that even though it may be very busy the queues are kept very short. There is so much there that I have only touched the surface really, if I were to name everything I would be here all day, but you get the idea of what the store is like. Every thing is very well laid out in sections so it is easy to find what you are looking for.
Also if you are a regular visitor to the store it is worth while purchasing a store card this can really save you pounds. It costs £5.00 a year and offers you so much discount for example without the card a jacket could cost you £200 but with the card it may only cost £129.00 now in my opinion it has to be worth it, let me give you another example say you wanted a tent without the card it is £120.00 but with the card it is only £79.00 what a saving, why pay more when you can pay less and for only £5.00 well you have made your money back and some.
They have online shopping at http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk, here you do not need the card as the discount has already been taken off, but have a look for yourself and see what savings you can make.
~My Verdict~
I will not shop anywhere else now; I even get my children coats and wellies from here as I know they are of high standards and will not get ruined in 5 minutes. I have a brought a number of things from here including jackets and fleeces that I am completely happy with them all. I have not tried the online shopping as the store is very close to me and I always prefer to try on before I buy. I have never had to take any items back so i cannot comment on the after sales service, although i am confident you would have no problems.
There are other stores around the country one in Oxford, Hathersage, Sheffield, Wakefield, and Stockport, with 2 more opening in the next month in Loughborough and Wigan.
If you do get the opportunity to go I am sure you will be very impressed.

Quick review of Go Outdoors
I've shopped in several GO Outdoors stores, I think they're absolutely fantastic shops, I always save money, last week I bought a Campinggaz Camp Bistro for £4.99, they're £15 in Tesco and £17 in Argos. I bought a walking pole for £2.99 and a Vango Venture 500 tent for £59!, I've seached the internet and no one sells cheaper. If they do they've got a genuine price promise where you get back 10% more!
Great ...

I placed an order online 4 days ago and they have yet to dispatch it despite charging £5 for p&p, Customer Services were completely useless as I had a girl who just talked all over me and didn't listen for the entire call. Also sent an email to them which they have yet to acknowledge. Pretty poor in my opinion, or maybe I'm too used to companies who dispatch things quicker than you can blink or who are polite to their customers.
Cheap it may be, but absolute complete rubbish imho. You're better off travelling the miles to the store than using the online bit, although I've had less than great experiences in the stores also. ...

Poor customer service. Despite being told twice (on the phone and online) that my desired item was in stock at the time of ordering, almost 3 weeks on and you guessed it... nothing. I sent an e-mail to chase a few days ago but that got completely ignored. I called them today to be told that this wasn't a "stock item" so I cancelled my order and fortunately found the same deal elsewhere. I'd recommend you avoid until they get their stock system in order!!! ...

I went in to the Loughborough store recently and thought I was in an abandoned warehouse. The product was all in piles, and I seemed to walk through row after row of the same trousers.
Nobody offered to help until I'd been wandering around for 15 minutes, and then to cap it all off they had NO BERGHAUS product in stock!!!
Useless, utterly useless. ...

It is a complete mystery to me how this store won any online retailer awards. They do not give you any information on shipping other to say order despatched. When the item ordered has not arrived they did not respond to email queries. Talking to them on the phone they claimed that the house could not be found in three attempts (the post code is for 4 houses only, easily found on any online map) - and then defended the shipping company rather than ...

Advantages: Cheap tariffs, free voicemail, good range of phones Disadvantages: Poor coverage and reception - can't use in the countryside or indoors
One2One is known to have the worst coverage of all the uk networks and I have to say this is true. Outdoors, if you live in towns you are fine and I have found coverage to be good. If you live in the country then forget it! Indoors reception is dodgy. In some areas its good but others, where my friends on Orange have full reception I have no network! In areas where there is half good reception there is a tendency for you to get cut off frequently. the network itself doesn't seem to be reliable. Reception levels vary dramatically dropping down to zero then up to near full.
The tariffs though are the cheapest in the UK, and contrary to other peoples opinions I have found their customer service quite good despitte the fact that they don't tell you enough tostart with, like you have to activate roaming to get international coverage(a lot ...

Advantages: Inexpensive plans and tariff Disadvantages: network coverage, phone reception/signal, and customer services
is the most frustrating thing I have ever had and I believe I?m reasonable calm person. They do transfer me to their so called different department and they keep asking same type questions again and again (Name, Address, password, and what my problem was). When I end my contract with Three network, they do squirm.
I don?t know whether if they pretend they don?t know or just non-sense people, but, they kept putting me into stupid, repeatedly discussions which I think they did intentionally. For example, when I say Three have poor reception so that I have to gooutdoors to make the phone call, and I have already checked the reception area online EC2 London (I not sure if I could trust this online checking network coverage). They replied that I was having very good reception whilst calling them and claimed that I lied about this. They said ...
