Golden Axe II (Mega Drive)

Advantages: A classic game with simple but effective storylines and actions
Disadvantages: Some claim it was too easy

...sequel to the highly rated Golden Axe. Having not played the previous version i was bought this version as a youngster and for a while was probably my favourite game on the mega drive. The story is very basic, you are tasked with retaining the golden axe from the dark guld, who you will meet at the end of the game.

It was good fun, though somewhat crucified by the press for its failure to build upon (or even emulate) the original?s good work. For European gamers, it would prove to be the last instalment released on the Mega-Drive format and a rather unfulfilling end to the series. But whilst our press was moaning about Golden Axe 2 playing things too safe, Sega were ...
