This will look like gold-in your eye

Advantages: Multiplayer, the game of a generation, limitless replay value, You ARE BOND
Disadvantages: Dated a bit (ok a lot...)

...point in the franchise history) Goldeneye saw the Bond legacy try to survive in the post Cold War era. The long opposing pesky Ruskies we're no long there to be fed as the evil doers a new enemy had to be found, and here (in the movie anyway) it was a form of cyber terrorism and war by electronic manipulation. The game is set along a similar story line and fan of the movie will almost certainly spot the reference through out the single player game.
...as the movie, the Dam level which acts as an easy entry into the game sees the players mission mirror that of the movie. Bungee jump into the chemical facility underneath the dam (though on harder difficulties other missions are added to the level, like they are pretty much through the game). The level set the tone for the game and better yet, set the tone for a generation of shooting games that had to follow in it's foot steps and it wasn't until ... more

...a bargepole’ category. Goldeneye is one such title. It’s the one that had endless amounts of TV and magazine advertising. The magazines loved it, the public loved it more and I totally turned my nose up at it before even bothering to try it. ‘Another lame movie game’ I thought, until one of my friends let me borrow a copy over a weekend. The last thing I remember is waking up at four o’clock on the Saturday morning having ...
...Half-Life and Unreal which make Goldeneye look like a U rated affair. At the time though there was just nothing like it on any console – this was a true groundbreaking game that re-wrote what we could expect from console gaming. The Game: You know the score, Goldeneye is of course based on the 007 film of the same name. A rather nasty weapon codenamed Goldeneye has been created and it has the power to destroy virtually anything that has a microchip ...

The Golden Game

Advantages: Very fun
Disadvantages: Causes agression in kids?

Goldeneye is the N64 classic - it's the must have. The first game most people get when they buy a console is this fantastic one. I'm not suggesting I'm good at it, though... The first thing you notice when you load up the game is the difference of the selecting your game screen - it's much more interesting and entertaining, and the idea's so simple - it's just like a secret document. It sort of gets you in role and prepares you for what's coming. ...
...Jaws to Oddjob, from Bond to Mishkin... you'll find they're all there. And, of course you can choose your arena - the seemingly never-ending corridoors of the facility, or perhaps the darkness of the caves? You decide... Once you arrive in your arena, depending on your selected scenario, your objective is generally to kill your opponents, surprisingly. You start off, however, with no guns, and you have to go round the arena looking for weapons on ...

...uses it to steal the Goldeneye firing key from Severnia, after setting a satellite to destroy the building. The supposedly sole survivor Natalya joins forces with James Bond to track down the bad guys, save London which is set to be destroyed and to kill Janus who turns out to be 006 who managed to survive the ambush after all. The film was a huge hit and loved by all 007 fans. Goldeneye the game is very true to the story and there is very little ...
...story is spread out over 20 missions and each time you complete the "story" you progress to another difficulty setting. There are 3 settings. Agent, Secret Agent and 00 Agent. All 3 settings are very challenging and the missions vary on each level everytime you progress. Graphics -------- The graphics on this game are excellent and the game creators Rare have pushed the Nintend 64 right to its limits. Every part of the game is superbly animated ...

...that same glory. Goldeneye was a very popular Bond film and the game could never be thought to mirror the impact of its success. How a then relatively little known games company called Rare decided to prove everyone wrong. Goldeneye is one of the best games i have ever played and probably one of the best I ever will. If a classic game must be groundbreaking then this is without a doubt earthshattering. You begin the game as the legendary Mi6 agent ...
...This is known as the goldeneye and is capable of firing an EMP wiping out all electrical equipment in its target area. Thus the danger of this weapon being used to send the world into the stone age again is very real. LEVEL Level design in this game is something to be proud of. It is quite apparent that the Rare and Nintendo team have pulled all the stops to create detailed and recongnisable backgrounds. Using photos from the films sets and even ...

Goldengame

Advantages: play it to find out!
Disadvantages: hardly any, maybe a bit too hard?

I had heard about Goldeneye being a fantastic game, and had played it in HMV for about ten minutes to find out. As soon as I had the controller in my hand, I was addicted to it. A long queue had began forming behind me, and it took a few disgruntled and impatient viewers to shift me off it. Goldeneye is the game that ultimately made my mind up to purchase an N64, and I haven't regretted doing this since. As the name suggests, Goldeneye is really ...
...a licence to do so. Goldeneye has been voted N64's best ever game, and it is easy to see why. If only the rest of the N64 game catalogue were like this, they would still be around today. Perfect Dark and Mario 64 are the only games that rival Goldeneye's superiority, and these are not in my opinion as good anyway. Goldeneye has many levels, each a scenario from the film. You control Pierce Brosnan 007, who actually looks like him (as far as he can ...

Killsone 2 is a great online multiplayer with great graphics

Advantages: Big online community, great graphics, interesting non-weapon equipment
Disadvantages: Could do with vehicles

After the Helghast invaded an ISA colony you take on the role of ISA Special Forces soldier Sev in the attacks on the Helghast home planet; Helgan. The story is quite entertaining as you play your way through the game. The game successfully builds the suspense and steadily introduces new weapons and foes. The programmers harness the power of the PS3 very well with large stages with realistic detail and do an ok job at utilising the motion sensor capability of the controller. The game has good playability and is quite easy to control, I think it's a controller thing but I found it a lot easier to "look" with Goldeneye on the old N64. Where this game comes into it's own is the online mutliplayer functionality. In the forums there are many customised games taking place with a selection of game type Player Assasination ...

Review of Killzone 2 (PS3)

Recommended, but not Perfect

Advantages: Guns, levels, and good fun with mates.
Disadvantages: Graphics are a problem, not as fun as it should be.

Multiple delays have trouble the "sequel" to Goldeneye on the N64, and, really, it has been worth the wait. Unfornuatly it was not as good as everyone had hoped, and is flawed in several factors. Worst of all, the framerate is quite low, much lower than Goldeneye. This makes playing some levels (especially eight player multiplayer) slow down badly. The next little niggle is the crosshair. I find it very difficult to see sometimes, and can cause you to easily miss because you can't see where you are aiming. The plot is rather thin, the bonus levels are not as good as Goldeneyes, multiplayer doesn't seem as fun and the graphics are flawed. There we are. I said it. Perfect Dark is not as good as Goldeneye. So what is good about it? Tons of stuff! The good levels are quite fun to play, and the variety of gameplay styles and levels makes ...

Good game, good game

Advantages: Excellent multi player, good game, lots of action
Disadvantages: Takes some getting used to the controls

great fun. Where this really scores is on the multiplayer. I can even say this from a perspective of still having to win! The characters are good and you can even let one person have a good bonus - double damage for shooting anyone? With lots of great guns - I'd recommend the sniper rifle - and hand grenades, both my son and i feel that this is the best multi player since the legendary Goldeneye on N64. It will fill a lot of good time and no doubt give you as much enjoyment as it has us! ...
