Hi guys! My name's Jenny, i'm 24 and live with my family and mental animals! I'm a bit of a shopaholic and I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with other Ciao members and hope it helps!! I'm just doing this for a bit of fun!
Around 75% of M.E patients suffer from some sort of muscle fatigue and muscle pain in various parts of their body. For me, it's my legs, hips and arms, made worse with the small amount of exercise i can manage.
For myself, no amount of painkillers or over the counter of prescription painkiller helped. Some took the edge off the pain but it was still numbing away my limbs, in turn returning to being painful. I've also tried using a TENS machine, which in my opinion helped for a short time then the pain would force its way back.
About 6 months after being diagnosed, my mum decided to purchase me a wheelchair. Just what every girl wants!! It's not even pink : ( This was a huge blow to me, even though I only use it for days out or holidays.
I'm not a huge fan of prescription medication, I take what I have to but have always been interested in natural supplements. It was whilst I was playing around on the internet that I found an article on Rose Hip. The article I discovered was aimed at Arthritis sufferers.
So I got a big tub of the stuff, and started taking the capsules, not really thinking they would help but it was worth a try. I noticed a difference after one week, my hips weren't as stiff, my arms not as weak and I could walk further without being in agony.
Six months on my Rose Hip capsules are as important to me as all my necessary prescription medication. Yes, I still get aches and pains, but life is so much easier. Before, carrying just 1 bag of shopping (shopping seems to be a reacurring theme - anyone think i've got a problem?!) - would be agony, my arms would be burning with pain and would do until the next day. I'm walking more, the aches I do continue to get after walking soon fade to a dull ache within 1 hour of returning home.
This may not seem like much to any 'normal' healthy person, but the muscle fatigue caused by my M.E really was a debilitating factor in my life.
I would recommend this to anyone who suffers from aches and pains in their muscles. A friend of mine who loves hiking mentioned that her knees had started to play up when she was walking up steps or uphill, I soon got her on Rose Hip and she's had NO problems since.
I have found Rose Hip capsules in Boots and Superdrug, they're also easy to find over the internet. Containing only Rose Hip powder (capsule shell = gelatine), different brands advise you to take different amounts, mine tells me to take three capsules twice a day. Now, M.E seems to have robbed me of my brain, and well, I forget - so I take one in the morning and one at night - and it's still making a world of difference to me.
