Goodmans GBD6
Review of Goodmans GDB6 by

Advantages: works and reliable
Disadvantages: made by Goodmans
...ye i agree pretty much which the previous review. i have also had the GDB3, which was a good price but was ultimately crap. i'm just commenting to say that this is probably the best product goodmans have made as most of the other stuff i have used by goodmans is real poor quality. i had a good mans t.v and the picture started going pink after about two or three years of use this clearly one of worst lasting t.vs i have ever come across. i have a sony trinitron t.v also which is ten years old now which is far better then anything that can be made by goodmans. also i had a goodmans dvd player that didn't work as soon as i got it and had to wait a couple of weeks to reciveve i new one and i'm not sure the replacement isn't chewwing my films as it enters the player. so basically what i can tell you about the GDB6 is that it is the most...

Easy set up, plus good selection of connections
Review of Goodmans GDB3 by
nemo183
Advantages: It's cheap, and set up is very easy
Disadvantages: It may have several serious technical faults
...I bought a couple of these for about £42.50 each on special offer. One was as a replacement for a grundig digibox, which, after a power cut , refused to reboot.
The other was to provide decent channel 5 in my son's bedroom (in our area, even with massive aerial and signal amp, we don't get a decent 5 signal)
Initial impressions were good. Set up was simple, and menu control quicker and better than the Grundig 1500.
Sadly, since then, it's all been down hill. Both GDB3's have a tendency to reset to "standby" mode (red light) for no reason. From this state, you can press "ON" on the remote control until hell freezes over, with no effect. The only way to restart is to pull the power lead and all is OK.
After a VERY short time, this becomes a complete pain.
I've tried a few times to call the Goodmans "help line", but have not yet...

Do not buy
Review of Goodmans GDB3 by
stevepick
Advantages: 2 scart sockets and timer settings
Disadvantages: crashes
...I saw it recommended in the computeractive magazine as being the best buy, and then checked the internet reviews, I should have believed them and not bought it. Sometimes it would not start from standby without being turned off at the mains. So thinking that the remote was faulty I bought a replacement remote which did not cure the fault.. Now it is loosing all the channel and timer settings, and when switched on displays the new installation page! so that after installing all the timer settings have been lost. I have tried to email Goodmans, but there contact site crashes.
The scart sockets are badly designed as the leads easily fall out
I should have taken it back to Argos for a refund before the guarantee expired...
