I bought it to replace a Lite-on Which after the second unit failing changed to Goodmans ... How wrong was I , I should have kept well clear .
This thing has only ever written successfully to about 3 disks out of over 100 ! , yes thats a 3% success rate , I kid you not .

Advantages: Digital Freeview Tuner (When it works) Disadvantages: Slow , Unresponsive , Eats DVD's !!

I have thrown dvd's from Tesco's , Svp comms & even TDK Mega expensive ones into it & it doesn't recognise any . It throws them back as full , Or says they are not DVD's !!
I had resorted ... ...with , So I mailed Goodmans tech support (Big Joke!) asking what brand disk it was shipped with as I would buy them because it seemed to work at least 70% of the time . They couldn't even tell me what brand disk it had shipped with & told me that I had to format the disks !!! , What planet are they from ... The machine sets them up as soon as you put any new disk in .

The Tuner find some of the stations some of the time , the picture is very blocky at times if it doesn't freeze up totally (I missed a whole episode of Top Gear this way)
So overall PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THE GOODMANS GDVDR305DVBT As you WILL regret it .....
All I have now is a rather expensive DVD Player & Part Time Freeview Box ....
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Difficult to use, unreliable, no spares available
...get the spare circuit board for the power supply from the Goodmans dealer in the UK at all.
I ended up throwing it away and buying a cheap Asda DVD player which works fine as i have lost faith in DVD recorders, a video machine is much easier to use. ...

Advantages: Having Freeview & DVD Recorded In One Disadvantages: Timer for recorded poor.
Looks: The box is on the large size but light weight.
Set Up: Was easy to install and could programme from control.
Control: Nice size, not to large, easy to use. Two controls in one as it has the DVD control and Freeview in one. All the buttons you need so you don't have to get up from the seat.
Freeview: some good channels and reception is very good on all channel. There is a number that comes up on the channels that are not free to call if ... ...good.
DVD Recorder: Easy to record and you can use in many way either recording a programme off the T.V./Freeview, linking the camcorder or even linking video player.
Manual: Is strate foward to understand and follow.
Value: Not a bad price.
Information on box (Can do): Kodak Picture CD, Compacted Disc, DVD video, 7 Day EPG, DVB, Dolby Digital, RW DVD+ReWritable
