In the midst of buying all my baby equipment, I decided it was about time I wrote a review on something to do with babies. I have owned and used several buggies in my time as a parent (almost four years, it soon flies by) so I thought I'd tell you about one of them.
The reasons I chose this buggy were a combinationof factors relating to other buggies I had owned, so I'll try and explain them all without waffling too much about it.
The first buggy I had was a two in one mamas and papas which I got second hand for a tenner. The type that starts off as a pram then converts into a pushchair by lifting the back and lowering the front. It was very heavy and bulky and didn't fold up very small so I couldn't take it on the bus.
I replaced it after a year with a mothercare stroller which was very lightweight, cheap, and folded up really small. It fell apart in less than a year and it didn't offer any protection from wind, sun etc.
At this time I was expecting my second baby any time so I bought a mothercare tandem. This offered protection from the weather but I had to return it in just a few months as it was begining to fall apart also. I found it very heavy and difficult to steer being a tandem.
Bearing in mind all this and taking the advice of a friend who owned a graco buggy, I decided to buy the Mirage. It offered the protection from the weather that the tandem had provided, as it has a large hood and the seat is surrounded by fabric, so the sun and win have a job getting to the baby.
It was quite light weight, especially when compared to my bulky old mamas and papas, and it folded up quite small, although it is not umbrella folding so soem may find it still rather bulky. It was however small enough to fold and take on the bus.
It felt a lot more sturdy than the stroller I had previously, and it was much easier to push, even though it was obviously larger and slightly heavier.
The pushchair benifits from a fully reclining seat so it is suitable for a newborn. the seat only has one other position, this being upright. It is easy to change the position of the seat, simply push it up til it clicks in place, or to lower it, unhook the plastic clips at the back of the seat and let it fall back.
The shopping basket was an invaluable feature of the buggy, it is very big and can take a lot of shopping as well as changing bags, toys, you know, general baby things you can't leave the house without. It is also possible to fold the buggy with a small amount of stuff in the basket should you need to take the bus.
Although there are no fancy extras with the buggy like a parent tray for example, I found you could store quite a few bits and peices in the hood whilst it was folded back, in fact this is where I kept my handbag, along with drinks, snacks, and smaller shoppign bags. Just remember to move them before you fold the buggy or they will all fall out.
There is a plastic tray which can be attached to the front of the buggy but it wasn't big enough to put anything on, and when the buggy was folded, the plastic tray would scrape on the floor as you moved the buggy around so I threw mine away and prefered to use the buggy without it.
To fold the buggy you simply pull two handles, located on either side of the frame, and a slight push downwards causes the buggy to drop down and fold. You need to have the seat reclined before you fold the buggy or as we discovered it gets stuck. The buggy folds quite flat, although it takes up about the same surface area as it did when it was unfolded. Still I found it quite compact and it stood leaning against a wall in my house, and it fit easily into car boots.
The seat of the buggy has a washable cover which is quite simple to remove, and the rest of the fabriic can be washed with a cloth and some soapy water if it needs doing.
The buggy is easy to push around, seeming to glide along in comparison to all my previous buggies. It is easy to steer, having swivel wheels at the front. These can be locked although I have never felt the need to have fixed wheels. the only thing I have found to be a problem is that occasionally the front wheels go over a bump and turn themselves sideways, acting like brakes. This happens without any warning and the buggy jolts to a sudden stop. It is advisable not to push it on a very uneven surface such as cobbles, and to take care on rough grass for example.
The buggy has a brake which you put on by pressing a bar with your foot. The brake goes on quite easily and holds the pushchair still. It is very useful when you want to stop for a while on a hill without your buggy rolling away. It is easy to remove the break too, simply lift the bar with your foot.
After using the buggy almost daily for about a year and a half, it is still in good condition, save the wheels. The "tyres" for want of a better word have worn away and almost disappeared, especially the back wheels. Also the plastic of the wheels is starting to show the pressure they are under, with white areas emerging and I was worried the plastic might begin to snap if I used the pushchair for much longer.
Don't let this put you off though, I don't have a car, and I often walk into town which is around 2 miles, then around town for several hours and back home. I would say the buggy has made this journey on average about twice a week. Also I make a trip to nursery with the buggy every day, as well as walks to the local shops, visiting friends, and a whole lot more. I don't think it would be possible to use the buggy more than I did, and it has also coped with the extra weight caused by my shopping (trust me that has been a lot of weight) and also a buggy board which I used for about six months.
I had expected the buggy to last a bit longer than this, although I must admit i am impressed when i consider all the stresses I have put it through.
From my childrens point of view, The buggy has served them well. They seemed comfy in it right from when I first used it for my younger daughter aged 2 months old, to the occasions my elder daughter aged three has used it.
The buggy cost me around £50 when I bought it around a year and a half ago in a sale. It is available at around £70 from places like babies r us. It is also compatable with the autobaby car seat to create a travel system, and you can buy matching accesories such as a changing bag and footmuff. A raincover is also available and I would recommend you get one as I found mine very useful in rain and high wind.

In fact I was so pleased with Graco that I have just bought a new buggy from them ready for my new baby which is due in four weeks time. NOTE: The age group it made me choose is inaccurate, it is suitable for children from birth to about 4 years.
Advantages: Great look. Reasonably light. Plenty of storage underneath. Disadvantages: Not the lightest on the market.
...read the opinions on the Graco Citisport, I dragged my husband over to Mothercare World, intent on buying one. When I had a good look at it though, I was disappointed, and ended up buying a Graco Mirage pushchair. I needed a pushchair to use for either of my children when the other was not around, and to take on holiday. It had to be light, compact when folded, but above all comfortable. Once at the store I decided to place both pushchairs next to ... ...very light(5kg), had A 'Cheap' feel to it.The talked of 'one handed folding action' seemed impossible to do, so I asked the shop assistant to demonstrate it to me(I'm a bit cruel like that!), eventually she managed it, but I did see a sneeky other hand whip up and grab the frame at the same time. Once erected, the hood wobbled about terribly. I then tried putting my eldest child in the narrow looking seat to check the fit and comfort. Despite being ...

...thus progressed on to the Graco Mirage Pushchair (although the 3-in-1 included the buggy I disliked the bucket style seat and so did my daughter by her rather ear-piercing squawks).
I didn't plan on buying this particular model, it was just a shopping whim one boring Saturday afternoon which I'm sure most mums can relate too. Whilst out for a stroll and on passing my then nearby nearly new baby items shop I spotted a Graco Mirage pushchair lined ... ...up her offer.
The Graco Mirage is the second cheapest in the Graco range being priced at £64.99 currently in Argos, the cheapest being the Graco Shopper (£49.99, Argos) which is of slightly smaller measurements when folded, of lighter weight and not having the removable plastic tray across the front of the seat.
Although when folded it is not as convenient as an umbrella pushchair, with it folding flat instead, it is an excellent every day all-rounder ...

...I already have a Graco Twin Mirage, and was pretty sure I wanted the single version.
When I was in toys r us recently, I took a peek in the pushchair section and was delighted to find the Graco Mirage on sale at £39.99 including a free raincover (worth £15)! What a bargain - totally irresistable so I got it. The reason for the sale price was that this particular colourway was being discontinued.
I got it home, unpacked it, assembled it all by myself ... ...it. As with other Graco models, it folds in half. The front wheels swivel but can easily be locked, and the foot brake at the back is very easy to operate.
After a week or so, my hubby deigned to try it out and was pleasantly surprised to discover he LIKES pushing it! I am 5ft3 and he is about 6ft, so while most pushchairs are easy for me to push, he used to find the 2 in 1 uncomfortable, a bit low for him and also he found with his longer stride ...

I needed a decent pushchair for my 1 year onld child having got fed up with the heavy weight 2 in one pram pushchair that I owned. There were a number of must haves that were on my list. Firstly it had to be fairly light weight - It is fine. I needed something which was sturdy and had strong wheels with good steering - It couldn't be better. Thirdly I wanted plenty of space to put the shopping during a busy day in town - This has plenty of room in ... ...spend huge amounts of cash on something that would be in the loft in a couple of years time. Another advantage is its colour scheme. Pleasing to the eye unlike some models on the market. It's also easy to clean.
The only disadvantage that I have found with this product is the way that it folds down. It is a flat folder and therefore takes up a fair amount of room in the boot however I decided that if it was a sturdy product that I wanted I would ...

Advantages: Nice looking, comfy for baby Disadvantages: Brake pedal comes off, brakes stick, wheels have stuck
I bought the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe travel system and was looking for a lightweight pushchair for a holiday abroad. Another Graco pushchair was the ideal option after getting on so well with the travel system. We bought the Mirage pushchair for £79.99 from babies r us. It has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare form the start. The pushchair itself is loverly looking with really comfy handles. It collapses down to a good size and is not too heavy ... ...also comes with comfy inserts for babies to make it all a snug place for them to be in! It reclines to different positions using a sliding rope/clip effect which means you can put it to exactly the right place you want it. And you can also put the leg rest up which is great if baby falls asleep.
We got it home and it has to be assembled which took myself and my husband about an hour to do. We then tried it out but found that we couldn't get the ...

Advantages: Can last your child up to 3 years Disadvantages: Car Seat/Carrier is quite heavy. Takes a bit to get the hang of fitting.
The GracoMirage Travel System consists of a pushchair, with a carrier/car seat.
I have been using mine for 7 weeks and have found that the car seat is quite heavy, and it took us qutie a few attempts to work out how to get the seat belt strapped around it before we got it right.
If you are on a budget it is a good option, we paid £101.99. But if you don't have a car like us and rely on it for getting about on a day to day basis, then I wqould re-think. The wheels are plastic, and so on uneven ground it tends to be quite bumpy. Also I find on uneven ground, like most footpaths, the front wheels seem to flap around a lot, rather like a lot of supermarket trolleys and they just don't seem very sturdy. With hind sight I would pay more and go for a pram with pump up wheels. ...
Jessica was born in December 2003 and one of our 1st ever buys was my old pram, the GracoMirage Travel system. Being a rather large baby she'd outgrown the pushchair part of this pram by the time she was 1. It was also a little heavy with or without excess weight so I decided it would be best to sell up and buy a stroller.
I'd been looking around for a few months when I spotted the Chicco Explora in the Argos catalogue and priced at just £39.99 it seemed to be the solution I was looking for.
The pushchair itself is suitable from 6 months of age and features the usual 5 point safety harness. It comes complete with sun canopy, rain cover, carrying handle and basket. It has all round suspension with front swivel wheels which can be locked by the push of a plastic button. There is also a break on the rear wheels, to lock you ...
