The system is great value, consisting of a buggy, carrier, and permanent car base, which is a great deal at the £150 sale price we paid. Our first baby was born in May and we found this attractive looking Graco travel system in our local Babies R' Us for an irresistable price in the sale.
The system is great value, consisting of a buggy, carrier, and permanent car base, which is a great deal at the £150 sale price we paid. For newborns, the whole carrier simply clicks between buggy and car seat base, meaning that transferring baby from buggy to car and back again takes a matter of seconds. When baby is older, the buggy is simply used on its own. I can't comment on this yet, as our daughter is still not old enough to use it.
In many ways, the system is superb. Despite some flimsy plastic on the cosmetic parts, it generally feels very nicely made, and the fabrics are attractive and durable looking. The buggy folds up easily and neatly using a clever double "twist grip" catch in the middle of the handle. Press a button, twist the grip and lift the handle, and the whole thing folds up in one smooth movement. A simple plastic locking tab engages between the two "halves" to keep it folded tightly when loading it into the car boot or manoevring onto a bus or train. Another nice touch is the way the folding action automatically engages the buggy's brakes, which means that when you unfold it again, the brakes are always on. This is very useful if you're unloading on a hill. There's also a simple plastic lever on each front wheel which locks the steering out, for when you want to rock baby to sleep.
The carrier unit feels robust (if a little on the heavy side), and has generous padding. We particularly like the extra semi circle of padding which fits neatly around baby's head. The carrying handle folds easily out of the way to lift baby in and out, and the three point harness is both secure, and has plenty of adjustment. The carrier has two sets of slots in the seat back for the shoulder straps meaning that it can be moved as baby grows. There is also a simple level indicator on the carrier which consists of a coloured circle with a small viewing window. If any orange can be seen in the viewing window, the carrier is not at the right angle. The carrier can be mounted into a car either using the built in seatbelt clips, or the permanent base unit, of which one is included in the system.
The permanent car base unit consists of a large slab of grey moulded plastic which secures at its rearmost point to the car's seat by means of the seat belt. The front edge overhangs the seat cushion, and from this, an adjustable double metal pole extends directly downwards to rest on the floor. This is the system's weak point, and the sole reason I would not recommend the system to others.
Simply put, with the base unit installed correctly, the carrier unit sits way too upright. This means our daughter's head lolls around on her chest, and should a rear impact happen, would almost certainly cause her neck injuries. The level indicator on the carrier shows no orange, but the fact is the seat is not in the correct position. Because the seat belt anchor points are all at the rear, pulling the belts tighter tends to squeeze the rear downwards "into" the car seat, which then exaggerates the problem. We've set the front support is as short as we can get away with without it leaving the floor altogether, and the only way to "lift" the rear is to loosen the seat belt which then compromises security of fit.
We drive a Ford Mondeo and a Ford Focus, both among the most popular family cars in Europe, and hardly obscure in any way. They also appear on the "checklist" in the supplied documentation to indicate they have both been tested with the system. We've also tried the system in various friends/relatives cars including two VW Golfs of different shapes, a VW Passat, Volvo S60, a Peugeot 406 and a Ford Escort. It's the same story in every car. Out of desperation, we even had our installation method checked by a local car seat fitter who said we'd done it correctly, so I can only conclude it's a design fault. A fundamental element of any car seat is that it mounts securely and in the correct position. This system can achieve one or the other, but not both at the same time.
We are now having to buy a separate car seat at extra cost, and will need two if we want to keep the same convenience of being able to swap between the two cars. This is not what you expect when you buy a complete travel system. You don't need to be a safety expert to see that the position of baby's head is potentially lethal in an accident when using this system, and for that reason, despite all its other plus points, I cannot recommend it.
Advantages: Large storage basket, sturdy, comfortable for baby Disadvantages: Large when folded, heavy, difficult to manouvre
We bought this travel system believing it ticked all the boxes - it could be used as a pram with the carseat, came complete with a base to easily fasten the carseat to the car, served as a pushchair suitable from three months and looked warm, sturdy and reliable. As I do lots of walking I wasn't too bothered by the weight or size of a pushchair when folded, so believed that the bulkiness of this system wouldn't be a problem.
It's very easy to attach ... ...need to wake your sleeping infant. The isofix base is relatively easy to attach to the car and means that installing and removing the carseat is very simple - all you have to do is position and listen for a click. Attaching the carseat without the base is a slight puzzle, but instructions are printed on the seat itself so it's fairly easy to figure this out and to be confident that your baby is safely secured. The pushchair has a clock and electonic ...

Advantages: Car seat with autobase included, so easy Disadvantages: Much too heavy and big
I bought this travel system last April from babies r us for £229.99 and got a free raincover with it as well as a £30 discount from the normal price of £259.99. This is definitely an expensive option but it seemed to have everything we were looking for to ensure the comfort of our first baby! My friend had told me that it wasn't worth buying a big system like this as it ends up not being used after about 6months when you switch to a lightweight pushchair. ... ...the style and everything that came with it. It comes with the pushchair, a car seat which attaches onto the pushchair frame, a base to stay in the car permanently to then put the car seat into and a carrycot to use when baby is still young.
I still think this is one of the best looing pushchairs available, it is very sturdy and feels very comfortable to push. It's really easy to maneouver.
It has a one-hand collapse facility, which I actually never ...

Advantages: Good for transferring a sleeping newborn from car to buggy Disadvantages: Bulky and heavy with lots of padding unsuitable for hot weather
...offer we settled on the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe......for reasons I can't well remember. I think it seemed a good price for what came with it. I purchased the travel system for £219.99 when it was on offer in Babies R Us but it's worth checking out the Kiddicare website as they often sell things cheaper.
This travel system has the following attributes:
Luxurious forward facing pushchair with deep side wings and snug apron - It is comfortable looking ... ...a lot more than other Graco travel systems because of the 'newborn' insert, which I only used twice (my daughter preferred the car seat on top and I could see her more). The insert is basically a slightly more rigid sleeping bag that you can (with difficulty) squeeze into the buggy in full reclined position. Bit of a waste of money. Our daughter was born in January and by the time I was regularly going out she'd almost grown out of the insert.
Unique ...

Advantages: Everything you nedd at a good price! Disadvantages: Very heavy
...then a Chicco when the Graco broke, then another Graco when the Chicco broke, which is all my partner's fault, he has a problem folding and unfolding prams! My second child got my money's worth out of my first Mamas and Papas, then we bought another buggy, another Chicco. Then I saw a woman walking down the street with a pram I fell in love with, a double buggy made by Marco, which I bought off Ebay and imported it from Germany.
Anyway this being ... ...them, and decided on a Graco Tour Deluxe.
My criteria wasn't that complicated. I needed a pram that:
1) Was suitable from birth
2) Had a car seat
3) Wasn't umbrella fold
4) Had a carry cot or carry cot insert.
This pram had all of the above.
The good points:
Its quite easy to set up, altough you do need to read intsructions, another thing my partner is not very good with.
The car seat is easy to use, it comes with a base, which means you ...

Advantages: Comfy for child & great basket! Disadvantages: Too large for public transport
We brought this travel system at our local Babies R Us. It included the pushchair, car seat, carry cot insert, changing babg and rainciover!!!!!
It is great value.
One thing to note is it does not come ready assembled and took my partner and father over an hour to assemble the different parts!
The carrycot is a really useful feature that a lot of other travel systems dont come with. Although it was only used for a few weeks it was nice to have ... ...suit from newborn to heavy toddlers with lots of postions to move the harness straps to etc.
The car seat is good, but I did find it heavy compared to some other brands. It also has very generous padding. The carrying handle folds easily out of the way to lift baby in and out, and the three point harness is secure, and has plenty of adjustment. The carrier has two sets of slots in the seat back for the shoulder straps meaning that it can be moved ...
