Advantages: Good sound, long lead, mini-jack and 1/4 inch jack provided. Disadvantages: Some may find the 'on ear' fit difficult at first.

These are great headphones with Grado's unique vintage styling. These are the second headphone up the range and a clearly noticable improvement from the entry level (they use better wiring & technically superior, closer matched drivers). The jump up to the next headphone in the series (SR125) does not give anywhere near the same return for your money as the jump from SR60 to SR80. ... ...well worth it. (I always felt that you needed to jump up 2 models above the SR80 to get a similar jump in quality).
They have a long lead as standard and come with mini-jack plug (for portable kit) and an adaptor to fit standard 1/4 inch jacks on Hi-Fi kit.
So what do they do well? Good bass extension, good detail in the mid range and nicely extended treble (without being 'sharp' or 'harsh' like so many of the competition). Just an ... more
In the interests of disclosure, I used to sell these products! So in this respect at least, the extra money is well worth it. Just an allround quality headphone really. They can be little difficult to get used to wearing because they sit on the earlobe rather than around it but the (easily replaced) earcushion is quite thick and will become more comfortable after a while. I have read a negative review about the durability and can only say that in my experience selling them I did not see a wire problem ever (one broken headband was all I saw). But I will say that they are perhaps not the most suitable headphone for stuffing in & out of a backpack. In summary, a great quality headphone for a reasonable price. Vintage looks but bang up to date sound and quality.
Advantages: Quality of sound and vintage styling Disadvantages: maybe the size also hurt my ears until bedded in
Bought for me as a gift from my Father!
An american headphone with a vintage style, I have the sr80 models and I am very impressed with the quality.
I use these headphones mainly with my ipod, they are very good at cancelling out all background noise and excellent at keeping my ears warm on a cold winter morning! As for sound they are excellent, far better than the sennheiser`s that i had before. They don`t need to be turned up to full like most ... ...The depth of the bass and the clarity of the vocals is amazing. One of the best thought out features is extremely long cable allowing you to dance freely at the bustop!! it has a small headphone socket as well as the larger jack plug. If your in the market for a nice set of headphones and not worried about the size then treat yourself!!
One thing I did notice is that they hurt my ears for a while until they moulded to my head. I may just have a ...

Quick review of Grado SR80
Good sound (while it lasted). Wiring to jack plug failed slowly but surely. No after sales service from Grado labs. I will go for German reliability and customer service next time. My advice - spend your £80 elsewhere! ...

Advantages: Good sound quality. Disadvantages: Not too good stuffed in the backpack!
people do find the somewhat unusual on-ear fit a little uncomfortable after a while, so I would suggest a lengthy audition.
All in all, a good headphone but the step up to the SR80 is the biggest 'bang-for-buck' ratio in the Grado range. If you have the extra cash, go for the SR80's. ...

Advantages: Colour screen makes browsing easier, and allows display of album artwork, and photos. Disadvantages: Uploading the album art can slow the iPod, and takes up space for music.
available from many online stores.
Sound quality is at its best when ripped in the aac, or apple lossless format, which take up more space than mp3's, they wipe the floor with them for quality. Also a good set of headphones are adviseable. The apple in box phones are very good, much better than standard box headphones, however to really get the best from youre music, spending £30-£50 on a pair of headphones (I reccomend Sony mdr ex-71's or Sennheiser px100's, unless you want to spend £90 on some GradoSR-80's, which turns youre listening experience from chalk, to cheese in comparison)
The instructions are easy to follow, and concise, covering every aspect of the iPod, and the apple customer support are very useful, so you'll never be stuck for help. Also inbuilt features like a calendar, memo's, games and the ability to import contact ...

with Sennheisser headphones but after listening to these for the first time, I was blown away by the sound reproduced. The Senns were quality headphones but lacked the openness and clarity and the tight bass of the Grados.
i think look is very retro (circa 1066!!) and flimsy looking but overall, this is outweighed by its quality of sound.
I auditioned these cans for quite a long time before settling on the SR80. The SR60 is not too far behind; very similar in sound. I also tried the other Senns, Beyer D., and Grados but for the price and overall sound, it can't be touched.
Strengths:
Very open, clear, neutral and detailed sound. Bass is tight, fast and solid. Lightweight and comfortable on the ears. Simple, understated, utilitarian look.
Weaknesses:
Revealing of source components. You get what you put into them. Some may find the look ...

Built on the same features as the SR60, but utilizes a 4 conductor connecting cable and larger ear cushions, the result of which gives a more open stage. The SR80 provides an improved bass resonance, which enhances the overall detail.
