So Me - Graham Norton So Me - Graham Norton
Like a lot of autobiographies, So Me is more interesting and insightful on the period of ... more
struggle before Graham Norton became famous than
on a life which has become a constant round of
professional encounters with celebrities. He is
funny on his unsuccessful career as an actor and
rather touching on the friendships that date back
to the years he spent as a waiter. Under a surface
of camp glibness, he is surprisingly evocative
about the London of the 1980s--certain key
locations of his life such as the restaurant where
he worked or the slum high-rise where he lived are
entirely present here. He is honest about his
flaws and moving about friends who taught him to
be better--for example, a commune where he lived
for a year in San Francisco gets a tribute. His
later life--his cult success as a comedian and his
discovery that what he really was is a chat-show
host--is recorded with occasional insight. He is
attractively unapologetic about his taste for
smut; this is who he is and what he does, and we
can take it or leave it.--Roz Kaveney

Not Me - But So Good
Review of So Me - Graham Norton by christianfilmcritic

Advantages: Interesting and Entertaining
Disadvantages: A bit gossipy

...Every now and then I like to pick up something a little different from my standard John Grisham or Lee Child Novel. So whilst browsing through a selection of autobiographies I cam across 'So Me' the autobiography from camp comic and TV celebrity, Graham Norton. Not that Mr. Norton is what I would class as one of my favourite celebrities, but having read a few things about his past in one of the Sunday papers a while back, I thought that it may make for an enlightening change of read. Covering the period of his life from his early childhood in Ireland, to the success of his Channel 4 talk show and climaxes with his move to the BBC. Although packed with anecdotes from with out his life, the majority of the book focuses on his struggle to find a place in the world, both career wise and sexually. Some of the more interesting anecdotes come... Read review

Review of Prey - Graham Masterton by simonrogertaylor

Advantages: Horror Nuff said
Disadvantages: none

...This book is one of the better ones i have read from Graham Masterton. It follows the life of a man living in a house while renovating it. The house has a checkerd past that slowly unfolds in front of him. This throws him and his lodger into a wild and horrific adventure, that makes it seem real. I found this book had a moment of heavy graphic sexual acts so may not be recommended to younger horror readers, if there are any! It is one of the better books i have read by Graham, as usuall his books take some getting into but once youy get there you are catapulted into the story.... Read review

An adventure into contreversial territory
Review of Fingerprints of the Gods - Graham Hancock by Nepthys

Advantages: Makes a Point
Disadvantages: Needs a little more evidence

...Graham Hancock is an author at the forefront of Alternative Egyptology. He has sold a good few books on the subject and 'Fingerprints of the Gods" Is perhaps his best. There is a lot of debate as to whether Grahams theories are right - but my message would be that 'at least he is trying to open the public's eyes to the fact that the Pyramids are (quite literally!) the biggest and most obvious mystery around. There are a great deal of books on such topics floating around now and I would advise you to be careful as to which ones you buy - a lot of them are just repeating the same thing. Hancock's, However, is the first and perhaps best at explaining his theory - using resonably understandable language and trying to answer as many evidence related questions as possible. Buy this book if for no other reason than to destroy the ignorance we... Read review
