Poor quality and a poor service. As for aftersales help, it doesn't exist!!!
Being newly married and having little cash we decided to rent our first TV. An easy task you might think, but not so easy in reality.
We found a company called Telly Bank, who later changed their name to Box Clever. I don't really know why, as they are actually Granada. Yes that's right, the big high street dealers, hence we though that a good deal was imminent. How wrong could we be?
The first problem was the TV itself. Once installed the picture deteriorated rapidly as did the quality of video record and playback. We called the engineers who immediately upgraded the system for no extra cost, at this we we're quite pleased as the set we wanted (newer & larger) we could not have afforded.
Having finally acquired what appeared to be a great TV-Video combination, problems with the payment meter came to light. Every time we put in a coin, it would not register. The end result was our pockets emptying whilst the meter was filling, and we still could not watch TV.
After many complaints and almost 5 months later they finally came and took it away, only to send us a bill for over £150 because we had cancelled. What they had not done, was to inform us of our rights when the agreement was made, which apparently gives us good standing in the legal sense.
The moral of the story is quite simply a case of READ THE SMALL PRINT CAREFULLY! There a many companies out there who want to rip you off, and Granada is no exception. Beware the supposed high street name along with BOX CLEVER and TELLY BANK. They are all the same company. Poor quality and a poor service. As for aftersales help, it doesn't exist!!!

, Granada and D.E.R are recent purchase by the big umbrella) but a store locater on the website indicates my nearest shop is actually Bletchley, and failing that Bedford. Not bad for a Milton Keynes man, but given that the phone support is so good I doubt I'd ever need to visit either.
It seems a shame that I can't acquire white goods anymore, but that might mean contacting a different part of Boxclever, called something hilarious like "Cwazy Woys Washers and Wifidegeration (though I don't suppose he'd refrigerate wives, and there in I suspect lies the false advertising claim for some poor put upon husband.)
Well I'm just rambling now so I'll wrap it up with Boxclever, great telephone service, not so great delivery-man service, great engineer service. Polite, prompt and something else that begins with p.
The update the otherside hasn ...
