The game of the year is finally here, and as with other Rockstar games this will receive some bad reviews because of its content, well not here. From the first second of putting thisgame in my PS3 I was amazed, the graphics and the level of detail are incredible, especially when you consider how big the map is. What makes it even more impressive is there are no loading screens when you go in and out of buildings, this keeps the action flowing throughout. I was sceptical about the series returning to liberty city and whether it would have the same entertainment level as Vice City and San Andreas, the answer is yes it does. Like all my friends I really like the new character Niko Bellic, hes an eastern european immigrant fresh from the red army looking for work, and hes not too fussy what it involves. Pretty quickly you get the impression Niko is an ice cold killer, this fits in nicely with the interesting storyline Rockstar have come up with. Your cousin Roman tells you about how wonderful his life is in liberty city, when you get there everything is not exactly how Roman said. You get to work beating up loan sharks and killing anyone who gets in your way. The fighting and shooting has been improved by a long way, beating people up and shooting random pedestrians has never been as easy or as fun as this. Your mobile phone is a brilliant new feature which you can use to call people you know for work, dates, a taxi, guns or just to talk if you wanted. Another new feature is the sat nav, you can get directions to any where you want by simply placing a waypoint on the map. I'll be honest the new controls and driving can take time to perfect but very soon you will be comfortable driving and shooting multiple pursuing vehicles at once. There is not the same level of customization as in San Andreas but theres still plenty of side missions to preoccupy you. The radio stations return with more variety and comedy than ever before. Then theres the online action which can be entered through Niko's mobile, theres plenty of modes new and old to make this game last for months. If you own a PS3 or 360 buy this game or miss out on an action-packed gaming experience.
