Introduction GTA 4 is this year most hyped up game and like other GTA games has broken records for most copies sold
Storyline You are Niko Bellic, a man who has some ghosts on his back and the promise of a luxury life with his cousin in Liberty city has come to get rid of the sins of his past and make a fresh start. However as soon as he steps off the boat he finds the wild stories of his cousin roman have all been lies and that he only owns an average cab company and a 1 room apartment in the bottom end of downtown, and even before Niko gets chance to take this all this in he is thrown into a world of organized crime, loan sharks and professional contacts that will test the last oz of fiber in this battered man soul.
Gameplay One of the main things that you get from this game is the fact that they have completely revamped the entire game as a game. This time you get a real feeling of being in this real world
One of the first things you see is the fact of driving cars While in other GTA games the cars were fairly easy to drive you get to learn quickly that these cars can't do a quick turn or brake as good then in the old game and therefore it adds a sort of realism like you are genuine driving a car in the game with you being forced to brake often in order to get round any small or large corners. Another driving aspect is the damage control, for example if you crash a car on the right side of the front then you get less control on the right side , the tire will not turn as easy and also the car will slow down dramatically Also the fact
that any scratches or dents in any place will stay on that car until it repaired, also any blood on the car will attract any unwanted attention from the cops.
The combat system has also been revamped as well When locked on, the target's health is indicated by eight colored segments on the target circle and when the target health is all gone the target will be rendered incapacitated to fight, a few more hits will finish him off and send the target off to a long dirt nap also with the combat system you get the chance to counter any hits heading towards you and hit the enemy back with a combo of powerful hits, also if you finish someone's health with a counter combo it will kill them instantly without any need of a finishing hits afterwards, with melee weapons a counter combo will kill them instantly regardless of health With the addition of unarmed combat is the addition of tradition weapons combat which has also received a revamped With each weapon there is only 2 different weapons in each category Melee weapons Baseball bat/Knife With melee combat it adds like a quicker kill then unarmed combat Pistols weapons Glock pistol /Combat pistol (Deagle pistol) The pistol is generally used as an overall round weapon effective at short to medium range Submachine gun weapons Uzi / MP5 These are most effective at close to medium range and is mainly used when they are 3-5 enemies Shotgun weapons Pump action/ combat shotgun While both shotguns have the same damage the pump action only carries 8 shells and the combat shotgun carries 10 shells and also fires them most faster then it counterpart, generally the shotgun is lethal at close range and fairly effective at medium range Machine guns weapons AK47 / M1A4 These guns are probably the best weapons in the game, these are effective at medium to long range Sniper rifles weapons Bolt colt rifle/ PSG1 If you want to hit an enemy far away then a sniper is your safe bet, effective at long range Grenade/ Molotov Throw able weapons that are powerful within range of target Rocket launcher weapon RPG It does what it says on the tin it fires a Rocket propelled grenade that explodes when it hits Needless to say MASSIVE DAMAGE AT ANY DISTANCE so long as it hits it but to no worries the shock damage is lethal in it self
Graphics Now remember in GTA3 in liberty city the design was sort of based on New York and other cities in America, GTA 4 is completely based on New York City with a sort GTA humor and logic so for example the statue of liberty is called the statue of happiness in liberty city. A major difference between GTA 3 and 4 is the latest next gen graphics which gives GTA 4 an almost real life view. Another thing you will notice is the fact that you will never see the same person twice (unless you have really good memory and a keen eye) Again the cars actually look like they are from the real world and have the same looks and with old cars you can actually see the rust effect on the car looks really does make it look like an old car with bad comments from onlookers when you run them over with it
Single player The single player mode is where the real fun begins It simple enough to go thorough as most of the things you need to know are explained in the mission needed There are all 93 missions that vary to either driving people to set destination to stealing set items and to many points killing people. With certain missions come options of changing the fate of set people and in doing so will also change the way you play the game Will Niko be able to change his ways or is he beyond redemption As well as the single player story missions there are also other things to keep you busy while in between missions Activities These range from playing pool and bowling to watching comedy shows Now these activities can be done alone or with one of your friends / Girlfriends ;) The good thing about these activities is the fact that they are so good that they could very well be made into they own games or in the case of the shows they look like you are really there
Favors This is one of the major bonuses about having friends Once you get a friend/girlfriend up to certain like level then you will unlock special treats from them. These can vary far and wide from 10 discounts at clothes shops to getting a fly cab to see the town
Mini Missions These are essential for 100% but not needed to complete the game story mission And with all the different mini missions there all offer money for completion. Some can be done by entering a certain car/bike, Some by reading your emails, Others are started by calling a friend, One of the major differences in doing these missions is that only a certain few will offer a added piece of equipment to make you life in liberty city that much easier.
Multiplayer mode
Once you have a phone (mission 2) you can select the multiplayer mode at any point during the single player game Now in the multiplayer mode once you have set up your multiplayer avatar you can either roam the city with 15 random people or friends you invite to a free for all roam around the city. Or you can go for the multiplayer combat modes These mainly vary from Free for all, team death match, racing and co-op mission mode. And like many things with online features in the ability to rank up dues to how you score in an online game And these details can be found on http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/ along with some interesting single player marathon stats so that you can keep up with how farther you traveled or how many times you got busted.
Overall opinion
This game has meet the GTA standard and surpassed it with flawless accurate measure And with news that the GTA DLC will be released for added content just give this game so much life While it has it flaws it is almost completely overcome by it pros
