This is a review on the newest game in the series, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. It is an action adventure game, where you will have to do many missions to get money and progress into the game. Most of you have heard of GTA games, and know they have always been 18 for various reasons.
Story ***** You are CJ, whose full name is Carl Johnson, he has just left Liberty City to go back to San Andreas to go to his mum’s funeral. He left San Andreas as he screwed things up there, well made it into a crap hole really. CJ is part of a gang called the Groves, who live on Grove Street.
In this game you will do missions for various gangs, and earn back your respect, and also earn some cash while you’re at it. You will also get involved to gang wars when you get further into the game, which is just brilliant fun. You and your brother Sweet Johnson are in the gang, and the leader of the gang is Big Smoke.
New features *********** The new things about Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, well there are loads of new things that you can experience and learn. The newest vehicle is a peddle bike, where you will be able to ride just a regular bike around the city of San Andreas. You will be able to go to a GYM, which will allow you to train up your muscles, and learn new attacks and increase your stamina. Also increasing your muscles and things is a new feature, which makes the game just that more better.
You will be able to get a girlfriend in this game, there are many girls scattered around the city of San Andreas for you to find. But they only want specific people, like they might want a guy with lots of muscles, or a fat guy etc etc. When you get a girlfriend, you will need to keep her happy by going on dates with her and doing stuff that she wants to do. Also another feature that makes the game good, is your weight, you can gain weight, and loose it, you loose weight by running a lot, or riding bikes, or going to the GYM, and you can gain it by driving a lot or eating a lot at the burger shot and other places where you can get food. Another feature to point out would be the 2 player feature, there are places where you will be able to play 2 players, like
when you take your girlfriend out on a date, you will be able to do 2 player then, also there are quite a few others things you can do, which is good.
Even more new features to the game, you are able to rob people at night time, as long as you have a truck, and a mask, and a weapon, then you can steal money from peoples home, drugs and illegal weapons, that is so cool, one of your missions is to rob someone, but after you have done that, you can start robbing places. Also you can buy clothes, like different T-shirts, and trousers, shoes, shades, hats and all that, which is really cool. And there’s even more, you can get haircuts also, and mod your car, you can add Nitro to your car to make it much faster for those racing missions.
Also more new features, yes more… You are able to swim, which will increase your muscles and also increase your stamina, you can dive underwater to increase you lung capacity, which you will need to do, as there are some missions which require you to go underwater for longish time. You can increase your training with weapons also in this game, the more people you kill with your weapon, then better you get with it. Also 1 last thing I thought I might point out, you will need to eat now and then, or you will start to loose your strength and your muscles will start to get smaller, so eat every so often.
Game ***** The game itself is great, there are 3 islands that you can explore, but as most of you know, you will have to complete all the missions on each island to unlock the next one, but the different thing in this game is that you can access every island at anytime, no this is not a cheat. As you can swim in this game, you can just swim to the next island, but then you get 4 star police on you, which you can’t shake off, even if you do cheat, it will appear again.
There are many missions on each island for you to complete, if you fail to do a mission, don’t worry, you will be able to attempt it as many times as you want.
You can buy guns at the usual Ammunation shops in the city, you will find them scattered around the islands. But you will need money to buy your weapons, and there are many ways of getting money.
You can get money by killing people, and stealing what they have on them, doing missions, or doing miscellaneous missions like Pimping, and Taxi driving, which will increase your money. But the easiest and the best way to earn money are to do the main missions.
In this game, you are able to buy hideouts, where you are able to store your car, and save your game, there are loads of places you can buy scattered around the islands, but you will need a lot of money to buy them, so you will need to do quite a few missions to fund these. But when you have got some of them, then it is good, also most of the inside of the houses (hideouts) look different, which is good also.
When you buy the game, you will get 1 disc, a manual, and a cool map of San Andreas as standard for Grand Theft Auto games. The map can be very useful at some points, so you will know where to go, and which place is what, very useful to have.
If you get bored of playing the missions, then just have fun roaming around San Andreas, speeding with your car, and running over people to have a cool chase with the police. Or just sit in a car and listen to the cool radio stations this game has, and some of them have really cool songs like Welcome To The Jungle (Guns N Roses), and Killing in the Name (Rage Against The Machines) and so on.
There are many different types of cars you can drive, there are motorbikes also. You can drive really fast sports cars, and also some small cars, and really slow ones, but they are all cool to drive, as long as it gets you from A to B. There are other vehicles also you can ride, there are helicopters, and the newest vehicle is Planes, which are really hard to drive, but you will need to learn later in the game.
Graphics ******** The graphics of the game is great, all of the detail in the environment, and the detail in the people, and cars and surrounding trees, it just makes the game seam much more… well real. I find this game pretty good with the graphics, Rockstar (The Creators) have obviously spent a lot of time into it.
Sound ***** The background music in the game is great, there is not always music in the game, but you get some really great music on the radio, like I said above, you have Guns N Roses playing, Rage Against the Machines and loads more, really good listening to.
The sound effects in this game are good, you here the gun firing noises, and the footsteps, the revving of the vehicle engines, and is just really good.
There are voices in this game, and no subtitles, even though you can have them on if you want them to be on. You will here some random stuff within the game, like if you kill someone or you have a car crash or something, you character CJ will say out something random, yet to do with the situation.
Other ***** The gameplay is good, very enjoyable to play, easy to learn the controls, easy to drive, and very fun just messing around, if you get bored of doing the missions, take a break and check out the city of San Andreas. Very enjoyable game…
The game is pretty addictive at times, if you are doing the missions, then you will just want to continue, but when you find a mission that you can’t do for various reasons, then you might start to hate the game, that’s one of the only problems with this, and also there is a lot of bad language. But I would say the game is addictive at times.
The game is pretty original, even though now there are quite a few games like it, and quite a lot of Grand Theft Auto games, but this one is far the best, and it has loads of new features which make it original.
This game is not that difficult, yet it can be for some, especially if you are playing a mission and get stuck, and don’t know how to do it, then you will think the game is exceptionally difficult, but like most games, the further you get into it, the harder the game gets.
The game is quite good value for money, you can get it now around £25 - £35 new, and that can be dear for some, but I think that is a good price for what the game is, and you will love the game.
My Opinion *********** In my opinion this game was great, yet I have played better games, as I don’t play it much now, as there are other things that I prefer to play, and also I have gotten stuck on a mission, typical me. But I shall give this game a 4 star * * * * rating, as it has entertained me a lot!

Advantages: The freedom, the music, the variety, the characters, the story, the size, the vehicles, the script, everything. Disadvantages: The graphics are pretty good, but not brilliant. This is due to the mammoth size of the game.
Advantages: Loads of things to do, great missions, hugest map in a game ever, huge variety of vehicles and weapons, great graphics. Disadvantages: None - it's absolutely perfect
