City. Grandma may not approve, but the 143 million people who boughtGTA IIIwill be chomping at the bit for this PC version of the PS2 follow-up. Not quite a full-blown sequel, but far more than the average lazy mission disk,Vice Cityrelocates the action of the previous game from the New York-esque Liberty City to the Miami-influenced metropolis of the title. Clearly as soon as someone mentioned Miami the developers immediately thought ofMiami Vice, because they've gone and set the whole thing in 1986 with an incredible soundtrack featuring everyone from Michael Jackson to Sigue Sigue Sputnik. As the game starts you take control of Tommy Vercetti (voiced byGoodfellasstar Ray Liotta) who gets involved in a bungled drug deal and must set himself up from scratch as a crime boss. Unlike inGTA III, you're not restricted to being a small-time hood any more; the game now allows you to purchase property (porn studios, strip clubs, cab companies and so on) and run extortion rackets. This cleverly widens the scope of the game while keeping the controls and gameplay pretty much the same. It also means that you still spend the majority of your time driving cars very dangerously and shooting and maiming anyone that happens to get in your way. Indeed, in most respects the game is very similar to its predecessor--the graphics, for example, are improved but hardly ground-breaking--though there are numerous minor additions, most notably the chance to ride motorbikes--which is particularly satisfying--and fly proper aircraft.Vice Citycan't be recommended unreservedly though: if you're intending to buy this game for someone under 18, you really should think again, as it's violent, filled with sex and swearing, and is totally and utterly immoral--which is why it's guaranteed to sell and sell. --David Jenkins

fueled by the violent power struggle in a lucrative drugs trade. Construction is everywhere as a shining metropolis rises from foundations of crime and betrayal. As a soldier, Vic Vance has always protected his dysfunctional family, his country, himself. One bad decision later and that job is about to get much harder. Kicked out onto the streets of a city torn between glamour and gluttony, Vic is faced with a stark choice - build an empire or be crushed.Impressive graphic overhaulVice City Stories is a monumental improvement upon the previous Grand Theft Auto title on the PlayStation Portable. For one, the draw distance has nearly doubled so that buildings and features can be seen across town. Character models and cars are as detailed as if they were on the PlayStation 2 and include all of the shine and transparency that looked so great in other Grand Theft Auto titles. Players can even choose the clothing that Vic will wear in Vice City. Overall, Rockstar has substantially increased all visual elements so that you don`t need to make any graphical sacrifices when taking Grand Theft Auto on the road.Even the city appears as never before- people on the street will notice you and recognize you for the actions you`ve taken on previous missions. Some even comment about actions you`ve taken and give you an idea about how the public feels about your notoriety.Expanded gameplayNew characters never before seen in Vice City add new twists to the story gamers were introduced to in the PlayStation 2 Vice City title. With a playtime of over 15 hours for the storyline alone, there is certainly plenty to see and hear in and around the city. Choose from various objectives to complete such as doing stunts for a chocolate commercial, chasing a known drug dealer to swipe his loot, and patrolling your neighborho

- Motorbikes have been added this time round. These are useful for the narrow alleys contained within the game. --------Introduction-------- This is the sequel to the classic Grand Theft Auto 3. Prior to this game being released in November 2002 by Rockstar North, the antipation for this title was at exceptionally high levels. And as with the previous game it was critically acclaimed. This time around the game is set in a 1980's Miami-esque location called Vice City. We play as Tommy Vercetti - this time we have a character with a name and who a guy talks the talk, and can back it up.
Here we will focus on the PlayStation 2 version of the game.
--------New features in this sequel--------
- Motorbikes have been added this time round. These are useful for the narrow alleys contained within the game. The best motorbike is the PCJ 600 and this vehicle is especially helpful when trying to complete all 36 unique jumps. Also exceptional is going from rooftop to rooftop in a later mission - it is really cool.
- You can buy properties (15 in fact) situated all over Vice City as the game progresses. Your going to have to earn some serious cash in order to buy them all. Once you do some will even earn you money like the Strip Club you buy later on in the game (and yes you can watch a dance!).
- Now you can change your clothes. Go around in a police uniform or a tracksuit or my personal favourite the 'bank job outfit' used in 'The Job' mission later on in the game.
- Another new feature is the ability to fly around Vice City in a helicopter. There are some 5 to choose from scattered around the place. This is always a useful vehicle from getting from one side of Vice City to the other. Some missions even require you to use a helicopter to follow a limo or alternatively use the air to deliver flyers to the residents of the City. Additionally you can even kill people with the blades of your helicopter. Talk about attention to detail - which is something this game and its predecessor oozes of.
- You can 'knock off' stores which basically means there are 15 stores around the city which you can rob. Point your uzi at the shop keeper and he'll hand over some cash. You should be as quick as possible though - the longer you take the higher your wanted level will be.
--------Storyline-------- Vercetti has just been released from a high security prison. Tommy's in town on 'buisness' and whilst the drugs deal is taking place he is betrayed. He escapes with his life, whilst the others involved with the deal are left in a heap of bullet wounds. With no money, an unhappy boss we start the game. You have the get the money back. From there on you are hired to take part in various missions by various different characters.
--------Gameplay-------- The missions in the game are consistently set up with a cut scene and then the action commences. Examples of missions are assasinating people in payphone jobs, needing to drive a rock group (Love Fist) above a certain speed (ala Speed the movie) after a Psycho wires their limo to blow, driving a car while under the influence of Boomshine (which means your car sways from side to side and is hard to control), and distributing drups in an Ice Cream van.
The vehicles do handle very well indeed. Each one feels slightly different to one another which really adds to sense of being in this living breathing city. Cars range from tasty sports cars like the Banshee or Comet, to limos as well as buses and 4 x 4's. You can also drive a selection of 10 boats.
The weapons are similarly varied and wonderful. For instance beat innocent citizens to death with Brass Knuckles, or go a bit Chainsaw Massacre with a Chainsaw, or use the Python pistol to kill foes with a single shot. Additionally you can do drive-by killings with your uzi or destroy everyone and everything with a heavy Minigun. As you can tell there are many ways you can deal with the game and the list here is just a small portion of over 30 different weapons to find in the game. An example of the attention to detail with regards weapons is the fact that a heavier weapon will weigh you done, so in turn it is easy to run with a pistol but hard with the Flame-thrower.
Provides great value for money considering in order to complete with a 100% rating will take somewhere between 40 and 60 hours. Once again there are the 100 hidden packages to find, as well as 35 Rampages to get your claws into. In the Rampages you are given a kill to kill/destroy a certain amount of people/vehicles within the time period using the given weapon. For instance kill 10 gang members in 2 minutes using a Katana.
Back again in this title are the vehicle missions which include Paramedic (rescue patients and take them to hospital), Vigilante (kill criminals), taxi driver (drive customers), firefighter (put out fires) and the new pizza delivery missions. Pizza delivery is simple, just ride one of the bikes from a Well Stacked Pizza Restaurant and throw pizzas at customers, which looks a bit like 'Paperboy' (an old game) when you do it.
--------Sound-------- There are over 100 tunes from the 1980s here to listen to on the various radio stations in the game. Steal a car and listen to the music as you drive around the city as well as when the cops are on your tail. You have to pleasure to hear songs such as; Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - The Message, Bryan Adams - Run To It, Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Iron Maiden - 2 Minutes to Midnight, Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You, Blondie - Atomic, Spadau Ballet - Gold, and so many more great tracks. Buy the game and you willundoubtedly see what I mean.
The voice actors are very impressive here. Our lead character is played by Ray Liotta (from Goodfellas fame), Avery Carrington is played by Burt Reynolds (Boogie Nights) and Lee Majors (Out Cold) plays Mitch Baker. Some of the scipting is fantastic - humour is high in this game. You can be quite drawn to the characters and grow a liking for each.
I think that the sound adds to the experience of the game for sure but it really has to be the gameplay which shines through.
--------Critical comments-------- Well I suppose it is going to appeal to everyone. The game is hardly politically correct - killing people, getting involved in gang warfare, swearing, the list goes on.
The graphics are not the best on the PlayStaion and are not vastly better than GTA3. Also as with the previous game the targeting system lacks precision but has definately improved from the previous title.
If you are really cynical you could say that this game is very similar to GTA3 and does not have that same WOW factor. I do not agree with this however, I think Rockstar have a different and better game in Vice City.
--------Overall I would score this game--------
Gameplay: 10/10 - there is just so much to do and see. The missions never become stale and the sense of achievement when completing the game 100% is immense. The game design is really second to none - it is that damn good.
Longevity: 10/10 - there are so many missions and extras to complete here that there is no doubt this game is going to take time to complete. This just provides us with a great value for money product.
Sound: 10/10 - great music and some really good performances from the characters.
Graphics: 8/10 - very good but if you are really critical the draw distance could be improved for instance as well as some 'blurry' bits. Still its the gameplay here which is important not the game's appearance. Just look at the disaster which is Dri3er - has good looks but lame gameplay.
Overall: 9.8/10
Hope my review has helped for anyone who is thinking of purchasing this game. It really is an impressive title and one which you should buy if you enjoy playing computer games.
Advantages: Stunning graphics, ground breaking, unbelievably fun Disadvantages: Its abit controversial cos of the violence, but I think that just makes it better!
...who know the joy of Grand Theft Auto, thats a BIG deal. I pre ordered mine from Play.com and its been posted today. AWOOHOO!!!
As far as gaming goes, I didnt have a clue about GTA until I met my boyfriend 3 years ago, and his brother showed me the ways of GTA 3, and Ive never looked back. We used to spend hours together trying to complete the missions, their mum must have thought I was crazy, one minute we'd be discussing hangbags and mascara and ... ...strategy, its all in there. Grand Theft Auto are the best and most original games Ive ever played, and Im including Alex Kidd in there! (Remember that? wow)
The game is mission based, you have to complete jobs for people to get paid, which means you can buy stuff and unlock things to make the game develop further. Doing this you make loads of friends and loads of enemies, but you dont care about that, you just want to make sure everyone knows you ...

Advantages: Very addictive, realistic and a fun game Disadvantages: Has come under the spotlight for influencing public disorder
...played any of the other Grand Theft Auto games you will have a rough idea of how the game works. It’s now up to you to earn money in anyway you can, kill off anyone who comes in your way and have a bit of fun when doing it all.
The missions cover a good range of scenarios, you could be on the golf course assassinating a heavily protected rival in the morning and spending the evening hijacking a military tank. No two missions are identical; I don’t ... ...spoil the fun for you. The city scenery, people, vehicles and everything else are very realistic. Shoot a tire on a car and see sparks as the driver finds it harder to control, likewise watch out for police spikes doing the same to your tires. Shoot a person and their injury realistically reflects where you hit them and with which weapon. This is part of the controversy into this game especially when you shoot someone’s head off their shoulders only ...

...is a considerable improvement on Grand Theft Auto 3. There are more gangs, more missions and a whole new city to get to grips with. This is a huge game that will keep you on the edge of you’re seat for weeks. This time you play Tommy Vicetti who has just been released from prison. You are ordered by your former boss to go to Vice City, a small island with more criminals than grains of sand on a beach. Your mission is to take over the city, ... ...fantastic and reminds me of Grand Turismo 3. There’s also a huge variety of buildings and other landscapes which all look very believable.
As I said before, the brick shaped hands are the only real let down in terms of graphics. The beautiful environments, realistic characters and great attention to detail all make Vice City a wonderful place to live. The only other thing I can criticise is the way the cars suddenly disappear into thin air ...

...I have decided to borrow Grand Theft Auto: Vice City off a mate, and write a review that should have been wrote a long time ago!!! So anyway, here it is now!
The Game is set in 1986. The character you play with is called Tommy Vercetti, and you have just been released from prison. It is a bit smaller than San Andreas, but when the game first came out, it was the biggest game there was!
I think that the game creates an 80's atmosphere perfectly, what with the purple lights on the streets, everyone wearing expensive suits and driving fancy cars and bikers lining the streets of Vice City.
In the game, to find out where your money and drugs are, ...

A brief history: GTA: Vice City, a hazy dream surely when the original game was released - Grand Theft Auto was a far less complex, but enthralling concept whereby a car criminal had to perform a series of jobs for individuals in the murkey underworld of a corrupt city, much has changed since the release in 1997 seemingly ... ...the title.

Advantages: Good gameplay, great soundtrack Disadvantages: Possibly not enough detail in storyline
The GTA series has been copied many times on the Playstation platform, sometimes succesfully and very often forgettably. The 2 spin offs, Liberty City Stories and ViceCity Stories are often overlooked, and still manage to be a more enjoyable playing experience than games with a high amount of anticipation and publicity, why? Well, the makers of GrandTheftAuto can do whatever they want and not be accused of copying anyone, after all, they're the ones who popularised the genre, although thats not to say this game is a clone of other titles in the series, because it's not. It is original and different. When i bought this game i, admittedly, expected the same sort of feel and storylines to the previous titles, it's not like that at all. The updated graphics and gameplay make the game feel different, the new characters freshen things up ...
Introduction : This is one of those great tropical based games from the United States. Vicecity takes it's name from Miami which is set in the state of Florida. There are four main islands to perform missions for certain gangsters , bussiness men exetera, although there are extra smaller islands for you to enjoy your time in Vicecity or to earn some extra cash. The two different large different islands are named "Vice Point" which is located on the east part of the map , and is the more residential area of the map. Also , "The ViceCity Mainland" is the city's western island which features the famous Hyman Memorial Stadium , which hosts several Blood Ring Banger races , rock concerts such as acts from "Love Fist" featured on V Rock , the well known rock radio station. The island also features the army air base and smaller areas such as ...

We are back in ViceCity and isnt it about time!
This time playing as Vic Vance a recent deserter from the army he works to keep a roof over his head and bullets in his numerous guns!
The map is the same as the original GrandTheftAuto - ViceCity but this does not make it any less playable, lots of old haunts are still available and even some of the secret gun stashes are replenished for those with a good memory.
The missions are great, as with all GTA games some are pure fury and some require a little more intelligence but they are all fun and entertaining. Some old faces are also back to pay a little visit e.g. Lance Vance (Vic's brother) & Gonzalez!
No hidden packages in this game..all together now awwwwwww :(
However it would not be a GTA game without a treasure hunt so you can collect Red Balloons in stead ...
