Advantages: Good book for both Young and Old
Disadvantages: None

...about the story of the Death and the Life of superman, take note of the title and how its worded this might give away a little clue to the insight of this book. It is a book for teenagers and Adults alike and it will really get you hooked. I have seen this book only last week in whsmiths, and on Amazon.co.uk it is under £6 and it is worth every penny. If you do go out and read this book or even if you already have done so then you could email me ... Read review

Thankful for every frame
Review of David Boring - Daniel Clowes by pesky33

Advantages: as usual, Clowes' fantastic artwork
Disadvantages: slightly confusing storyline

...met his current roommate Dot, David now lives in the city. He has a fixation on women with large backsides (see frame 1 below), which Dot finds amusing, and after meeting Wanda in an airline shuttle, he follows her until she is his. He also finds an old comic his father drew about ‘The Yellow Streak’, which becomes something of a comfort to him as he carries it around, reading from it now and again. By the time act two begins, David and Dot have ...
...the eventual fate of both David and Dot, and start to make sense of some of what has gone before. **What did you think of it?** I personally think Clowes is a genius. He has managed to create a black and white film on paper, the only colour coming from the frames of David’s comic that helps him to make sense of his life (see frame 3 below). Even though the characters are literally 2 dimensional, they have been given believable backgrounds by the ... Read review

BEANO IS SUPREMO
Review of Dennis & Gnasher Cartoon Capers - Beano Books by Wendelle

Advantages: Keeps my 8 year old son amused/is cheaper than other comics/magazines
Disadvantages: None

...inside page with, of course, Dennis the Menace and Gnasher, who else?!. Other cartoon stories include oldies such as Ball Boy, The Numskulls, Little Plum, The Bash Street Kids, Minnie The Minx, Rodger the Dodger, Billy Whizz, with a few new ones amongst them such as Ivy The Terrible and Tim Traveller. My son loves The Beano so much that in almost 2 years he has collected roughly 100 copies. Where does he keep them? Having tried to get him to part ...
...beloved Beanos being recycled, we found out that you can actually purchase Beano Binders to hold your comics in. I purchased a couple on the Internet by going into www.beanotown.com but have to admit that, although the binders are great at keeping all his comics together and in one place, they are quite pricey (about £5-£6 if I remember rightly). Joining the Beano Club is also well worth it - £15 for kids, £17 for adults. This gives you a whole year's ... Read review

if you ever believed
Review of Dragonology:The Complete Book of Dragons - Ernest Drake by scuzz

Advantages: imaginative
Disadvantages: n/a

If you can remember a time when dragons existed, even if they were only real in your mind, then this book is for you. This book captures everything you ever thought to be true – with a lot more besides. When I first saw the luxurious red leather-effect cover, encrusted with faux jewels and a huge embossed dragon, I was spellbound by the book’s magic. From when you first open the front cover, there are details to capture your imagination, from a ...
...this book has not really aged with time, for the fascination of these mythical beasts is still within many of us today. Dr Drake takes the reader on a realistic journey of how a “dragonologist” would search out and record the behaviours of these creatures. A map of the World will give you an insight as to where to find what species of dragon, whilst handy hints will prevent you from being burned alive! Each “known” breed of dragon is explained with ... Murder, Mystery and Condensed Milk
Review of Diary of an Amateur Photographer - Graham Rawle by pesky33

Advantages: fantastic story line, beautifully put together
Disadvantages: some people might be put off by the presentation

...book is written as a diary (as you might expect) by a strange character called Michael Whittingham. The first entry introduces us to the reason for his diary; he has joined an amateur photographer’s club, and the teacher has suggested they all keep a track of their progress. Michael soon picks up an old fifties camera very cheaply second hand (yes, that’s right, he joined without owning a camera) and a book on how to develop your own photographs. ...
...and takes it to be developed at his old local chemist, as they are the only people to still deal in black and white film. As he leaves the shop, he finds a box of old magazines, which, luckily enough, are fifties amateur photography issues. They include the sort of photographs you usually find in these sorts of publications (ladies in their underwear) and a few of the photos are even taken on the same camera model as his. Michael becomes obsessed ... Read review
