Sold! Seriously though, could you wish for anything more in a comic book? I love the “Golden Age” of funnybooks, I really do – but there’s only so much homogenised familial bonding, wipe-clean justice and sterile affairs that a boy can take! It’s painfully obvious that life isn’t all ice creams and petals, so why not take a dive into the nasty side of things rather than see Superman waft his cape over Metropolis ...
...to how far too far is – the Druuna comics by Paulo Eleuteri Serpieri, for example, feature the titular heroine having sex with aliens, demons etc. – you may have seen the crappy cartoon/rock movie Heavy Metal? This graphic novel is wrote by Frank Miller but also includes his art along with inkist Klaus Janson and colourist Lynn Varley. The Hobbit is a timeless classic that been fantastically been brought to life in this comic like version of the hobbit. Tolkiens vivid image and ideas about middle earth have been adapted into amazing pictures accompanied by the text. This is a great story with dwarves, wizards, hobbits, dragons, elves and many more fantastic creatures.
