Great for the Price!
Review of XFX GeForce 8400GS by
Omar788
Advantages: Performs great in the Price range - Stays quite cool
Disadvantages: Not really much.
At the of writing this review this card only costs £34 off this very website.
I'm saying this because it's a bargain if your looking for a cheap upgrade to your 6200 or 7300gs or lower graphic cards. I have tested it myself and compared it to the both of the above cards and it is faster than both of them. Still four generations in and the low-end segment of Nvidia does still come equipped with the 64-bit memory bus although this doesn't really affect ... ...are becoming more shader intensive rather memory intensive. The core of 8400gs is the same as the 8500gt, so it has 16 Unified shaders which are capable of outputting how many pixel, vertex or geometry shaders that a particular game demands. For example a game might need, 8 pixel, 4vertex and 2 geometry (The Geometry shader is only used in DX10 applications).
It is superior in core performance to the 7300gt and maybe also the 7600gs, even though ...

Transform your ageing PC
Review of PNY Verto GeForce 6 6200 PCI by
JONXLR8
Advantages: Transforms the PCs performance, smooth running, good looking games
Disadvantages: Took a while to install, required spec on packaging doesn't match website
...came to the conclusion that PNY and NVIDIA were names to look out for. I was surprised by the lack of choice in PCI graphics cards on Dabs and Ebuyer so bought my card from an eBay shop for just over £50 delivered which was at the time the cheapest I could find. In the package was the card itself, a driver CD, a case sticker, an S-Video cable, a DVI-VGA adapter should you need one, and a very basic and universal install guide. The only strange thing ... ...the required specs on the PNY website of a 300W PSU and P3 CPU.
After recently installing a new PSU and CPU I was confident in my ability to install the card, after all it's just a matter of pushing it into a slot and tightening a screw. My mobo has three PCI slots and slot three was being taken up by a Firewire card, so I installed the graphics card in slot one to allow a bit of space between them as I knew it was likely to generate a considerable ...

ATI Radeon HD 3850
Review of Sapphire RADEON HD 3850 by
semiflex
Advantages: absoloutly brilliant card! arguably ATI's best card in terms of usability
Disadvantages: may not be as power as the nvidia 8800
Feel as if you need a new ATI Radeon Graphics processing Unit? I highly reccomend this one! its not as powerful as the Nvdia 8800 GTX in some of the stats, but its different in a lot of ways
Gaming companies preferably use the excellent ATI GPU's because they find them more flexible for them and for the consumers. and that is why its worth getting this gpu. It is absoloutly flawless with any game or with any video editing process. The things that ... ...and moulds to the game and gives you the best possible results.
take crysis for example. a very highly demanding game. this will gpu will ulter itself to have the neccasary shades whcih make hte textures on the trees somewhat impossible.
this truly is a brilliant card and it gets 5 stars from me! BUY IT! ...

Quadro 1700 on Linux Maya 8Gb system
Review of NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700 by
biggles5
Advantages: Good all round OpenGL performer. Great software app support too.
Disadvantages: 512Mb of RAM shows when using heavy scenes with lots of textures
I decided to join the Nvidia camp, and buy a 'professional' card, as opposed to a gaming focussed card. I work in the field of 3D using various 3D packages (Maya etc) and some 2D packages. OpenGL performance is key, and the need for ZERO time lag when doing delicate 3D manipulations of geometry is essential. I went for a brand new mid range card. meaning a good price (just over 300 pounds), yet with great performance. Check out this Nvidia comparison ... ...family
