GRAZIA MAGAZINE
For the purposes of this review I have read the issue dated 9th March.

***What's it like?***
This magazine is aimed at women and consists of 115 pages, with lots of adverts thrown in. Although there are lots of ads, instead of just Prasda there are some that are in reach of the ordinary consumer, such as TK Max and Aptamil etc. It doesn't appear overly snobby. It has a glossy front cover (this one is graced with Jennifer Aniston), but doesn't have the thick spine of it's dearer counterparts (Elle, Marie-Claire ect). Having said this it is around half the price.
It is mostly concerned with what the celebs are doing or more importantly what they are wearing! This edition contains coverage of London's Fashion week and an Oscars frock special!!
It is very concerned who celebs are currently going out with and has lots of gossip of this type. It has a couple of real life stories - 'Was I right to let Mr Perfect go? and 'My laid off life', depicting 3 women who have been made redundant and telling their story.
There is also a Health and Beauty section, Living section, the best of the weeks TV, a letters page, horoscope and goodie bag (which gives the chance to win a Gucci bag worth £1135.
The front cover claims it has been voted magazine of the year - couldn't work out by who though!!! Could have been my auntie!!
There is also an associated website - www.graziadaily.co.uk.
***Opinion***
This is not a thinking person's magazine, it is what I think of as chewing gum. If you just want a quick read and a guilty peek at what the celebs are up to then it is ok. I don't find it as creepy as Hello or OK, which suck up to the celebrities - it just seems like a bit of lighthearted fun. I did enjoy the couple of stories that were included, because I like to read about 'real' people.
I have read this magazine whilst at the hairdresser and I will honestly say I don't think I would personally buy it regularly. It is £1.90, which in comparison to the other magazines I have previously mentioned is cheap. After all the other magazines might be bigger, but so are the amount of adverts in the more expensive magazines.
I know it's a bit shallow, but I kind of liked seeing all the dresses that were worn at the Oscars. I suppose it offers a bit of escapism from normal everday life.
This was interesting, but I thought that overall, there was a bit too much emphasis on fashion in general. It would have been nice to see a bit less of this and a few more articles.
If I was on a train journey then I might buy it for a bit of light easy reading - I could pretty much read it in half an hour.
***Availability***
If you are interested in buying it regularly there are better options that buying this weekly (£1.90). You can currently get a 12 week subscription from the magazine group for £14.00. They are also giving away a free gift - 'Subscribe to Grazia today and save up to 42% PLUS receive your FREE Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Face Gel & Serum. Worth £45.'

...time in ages I purchased Grazia magazine the other week. The magazine is published by EMAP plc with a cover price of £1.90. The first edition came out in 2005 and claims to be Britain's first weekly glossy, I understand that to mean a weekly version of Marie Claire, Glamour or Elle. It is more expensive than most other women's weekly magazines, but pro rata the aforementioned monthly glossies are cheaper than buying four editions of this. When I ... ...There is also Grazia 'opinion' in each section where Fiona McIntosh (whoever she may be) gives us her viewpoint on Cerys Matthews career post 'I'm A Celebrity…' Also Laura Craik gives us some fashion opinion by telling guys what clothes to buy the fashion conscious girlfriend for Christmas. I'm not sure how many guys would actually read it and I suspect most women would prefer to choose for themselves. Paul Flynn also tells us why we should be watching ...

Advantages: Nice clothes, grown up magazine Disadvantages: none
Grazia magazine has probably become my favourite magazine out at the moment. I think as I've grown older I have moved away from wanting to know what is happening in the Big Brother house (although I have never wanted to know and never watched the show) as told in Heat magazine and the like and feel I have also moved away from the problem pages "my boyfriend slept with my sister" in such magazines as Cosmo, etc. I am not looking either for magazines ... ...celebrity news and for me Grazia has all of those things.
Grazia is actually an Italian magazine which has international editions, obviously including one in the United Kingdom. It actually says on the front that Grazia was voted magazine of the year so I can't be the only one who likes it.
In Italian the word Grazia means Grace. I like this name and think if it was called this in English it would be a great name for a magazine. I think it's perfect ...

Grazia is definately the magazine for the fashionista out there, its not your run of the mill celebrity magazine showing celebs in compromising situations or looking rough. Its definately a high class alternative for the woman out there who wants to be up to date with fashion , beauty treatments, products and the news. It has a great top ten stories of the week section for easy reading. What I love is that it not only advertises the high fashion ...

Advantages: A compact guide to news, fashion, celebrity, TV, etc etc! Disadvantages: None!
Grazia is pitched as a fashion magazine, but actually it is so much more than that. With it's unique mixture of news, celebrity, fashion and gossip it has all that you could want from a magazine. It's perfect for 20/30 year old women who love fashion and enjoy magazines such as Vogue and Elle, but don't want a magazine that it soley dedicated to fashion. With it's Top Ten Stories of the Week section it looks at topical issues from both the world ... ...magazine. I think that Grazia is a reall 'all rounder' for busy women who need their fix of fashion and celebrity, but who are also interested in keeping up to date with the world around them. A great magazine - I look forward to it every Tuesday! ...

Advantages: Good news and fashion pages Disadvantages: A bad version of Heat
This magazine is one of the worst celebrity gossip magazines in the UK. Star is a weekly magzine that is published every Monday and is a good price at 99p, how the quality reflects the cheaper proce than other other weekly such as heat and grazia.
Star magazine claimed it was this years official big brother magazine, a title usually held by heat, but this shows the quality of articles on offer.
I often buy this magazine when I want a cheap read for a train journey but having regretted my choice too many times will not be doing so in the future.
Star has been running for nearly 250 issues so a demand for this magazine must still be present but with the credit crunch magazines but be a luxury people are willing to drop. Celebrity magazines may become defunct as people are able to view up to date information now on the web.
Star is ...

Advantages: Great layout and content, different, inclusive style. Disadvantages: Not as widely available or regular as other mags.
have never seen an issue of it, but if it's in the hands of the Nylon team I'd certainly be confident enough to say it was worth a look.
Nylon seems to have a readership that stretches from US high school girls to (judging from at least one letter to their letters page) 29 year old Swedish fashion designers. It costs £3.50, is about 130 pages and runs about ten issues a year. What with the recent rise of 'Grazia', touted as Britian's first weekly glossy, there has been a lot of talk in mag circles about how magazines have to be frequent to keep up with fashion. I think Nylon can disregard such arguments because it seems to have more 'style' than 'fashion', drawing on diverse ranges to ensure everyone can find something they like in its pages. It seems more incluive and less standoffish than fashion magazines, and is something you can look ...
