Advantages: Easy, permanent toilet seat Disadvantages: Expensive, means replacing the adult seat too.
When looking for a seat for our newly installed second toilet, I wanted to find one which would be suitable for child-sized bottoms and adult-sized bottoms, be easy to use and easy to clean.
Previously, toilet training seats had been an extra seat which was put on and off as and when needed. The more basic ones slid around, making it difficult for a child to get on and off the toilet. The fancier ones adjusted in size to fit tightly, making it difficult for a little boy to take it off in a hurry to do a 'standing up wee'.
The best compromise I had seen before was a thin plastic seat with arms which attached to the adult seat, making it a 'flip up and down' seat... in theory. In practice, it didn't really fit well, and whilst it was fine in the 'down' position, it didn't stay up and it made it impossible for the adult seat to ...
Advantages: Looks good, easy to use and cuts out on clutter. Disadvantages: Can chip, rub and come apart but only if mistreated!
I have been meaning to do a review on this innovative product for ages and, for once, my procrastination means that I should now be able to give a more complete review as during this time a couple more 'problems' have arisen which may be of interest to you.
The family toiletseat is a standard toiletseat with a smaller, trainer seat for toddlers/young children in the toilet lid. When you lift the toilet lid, the trainer seat can be easily released by turning a little knob and, hey-presto, a smaller version of the adult seat folds down!
When I first saw this product in 2003, I was so impressed by it that I bought it - before I was even pregnant! We were trying for our first baby and after another month of no success I decided to cheer myself up by buying a lovely crib that I had had my eye on for ages and while flicking through ...
Advantages: easy for child to pull up and down Disadvantages: not an easy grip
When i first started toilet traing my 3 year old i had a ditachable seat and i found that it was hard to lift on and off and if i was busy and my child needed to toilet he would have to wait for me to attach the seat.
At least with this already attached he was then able to pull the seat down ready for himself.
This made my child more confident and independant about using the toilet. He knows that this is his special seat which then makes the whole thing of toilet training easier which is good and more laid back.
This is also good because sometimes i found that my child would make a mess on the seat and so it was much easier to clean as it just lifts up and down. where as i used to have to struggle to pull ditachable seat off.
very pleased with this item and helped alot with the whole ordeal of potty training.
The price is very ...
