Jim Dunlop USA Nylon picks
Review of Jim Dunlop USA Nylon picks by
markb_1
Advantages: cheap, common, such a great range
Disadvantages: Can't say i have found any yet
...ok so you may think its a little sad or strange that im writing a review on plecs, but as a guitarist i have tried loads of different models, styles, thickness' and makes of plectrum. But i can honestly say nothing compares to Jim Dunlop NYLON plectrums, the series contains all different thinkness' of plecs for different purposes, it's completly up to you as to what you use each for, however heres what i would reccomend:
38mm- Strumming
46mm- General Strumming+light picking
60mm- Strumming, Picking-Multi Purpose (personal favourite)
73mm- Strumming+Picking-Multi Purpose
88mm- Strumming+Picking
100mm-Picking (Possibly strumming)
You can pick any of these up for around £0.30-£1.00 from pretty much any local music shop, if not they should be shot, and the great thing about these plectrums is how flexable the series is, you can always find...

Review of Roland SH-101 by
crustypaul
Advantages: Head noises, huge bass, acid squealing
Disadvantages: No MIDI, tuning can be tempramental
...of choice for many techno artists. The 101 also has another trick up it's sleeve in the form of an insane Pulse Width Modulation on the squre wave. Whack up the PWM, set the LFO to about half way and you've got what can only be described as instant hoovery head noises.
The filter is the real analogue deal with a resonance that travels well into self oscillation, the addition of a simple 100 note sequencer and an arpeggiator makes it a simple matter to set up a simple sequence, welly up the resonance, and overdrive your mixer to create an instant acid frenzy
One frightning aspect of the 101 is the ability to stap it on like a guitar with the addition of the MG-1 modulation grip. This should be avoided at all costs as it is impossible to look cool wearing a keyboard.
The SH101 is a very simple synth which is capable of some very powerful sounds...

Review of Korg SP-100 by
mojobob
Advantages: Full-length, nice key action
Disadvantages: Not a real piano!
...to replace a piano for gigs, this is a satisfactory substitute and much easier to transport!
The piano sound is really quite nice for an electric piano, much more than adequate.
It's very easy to get to grips with, or to use with external racks for a wider variety of sounds (I've used both a JV and the current Nord rack with this piano).;
