Sleeping bags for babies are perhaps my favourite of the 'baby gadgets' I don't know what I'd do without ours so whoever invented them I am forever grateful!
When babies are sleeping they are just like us adults, they toss and turn. but unlike us, they can't reach for their covers when they manage to throw them off or they can't get themselves back out from underneath them if they wiggle down under them. In the night we were forever ... ...or we would be forever checking that she hadn't managed to get underneath them. Now that it's getting cold again I would be worried that if she was able to kick her blankets off that she would be too cold in the night and would have to keep checking her again.

In the night we were forever getting up to put the blankets back around baby Hope or we would be forever checking that she hadn't managed to get underneath them. Now that it's getting cold again I would be worried that if she was able to kick her blankets off that she would be too cold in the night and would have to keep checking her again.
Sleeping bags ensure that you don't need to keep checking on your baby for their covers as the sleeping bag stays in place. You zip them up around your baby and the shoulders have little poppers like dungarees so that they stay in place and the baby can't wiggle down underneath them.
This makes them flexible as they're baggy so as baby moves the bag moves with them instead of the blankets being thrown off.
This bag is huge! Baby Hope is 8 months old and only just in 3-6 months clothes but her 6 month sleeping bag was getting a bit small so we bought this one knowing that it would fit her for a long time! There is plenty of space but that doesn't matter. The fact that it's double her length isn't a problem as it just means that she will grow into it, it doesn't affect how warm it will keep her.
Sleeping bags come with different tog ratings like quilts and duvets do. In the summer we use a 1tog and in the winter a 2.5tog. This bag is a2.5 tog so ideal for this time of year.
It is lined with a fleecy lining so it's nice and snuggly and soft on her skin. The material on the outside has little pink flowers on and is soft to touch. It looks really snuggly and cosy I'm not surprised Baby Hope sleeps 14 hours at night!
Once when it was warm we had to leave her without asleeping bag on at all as it was just too warm for her and she didn't sleep at all, she was constantly waking up and i'm sure it'sbecause she didn't have the comfort of a sleeping bag on her. Now, every time we go anywhere overnight we have to ensure we don't forget the sleeping bag as it really is an essential.
They are easy to use, simply lie your baby in them and zip it up then fasten the poppers over the shoulders! You don't have to worry about getting up and down to check blankets and they are easy to wash as they are machine washable just like blankets would be.
They aren't even all that pricey. At first we could onlyf ind them for about £25 which was the equivalent of 2 blankets from a store like mothercare but now you can buy them for £10 from matalan and Ikea. in John Lewis', mothercare and babies r us they tend to be more expensive £25-30 but if you do shop around or buy in the sales you will find them at a more reasonable price- we managed to get one for next summer from Sainsbury's in their sale for just £5! Bargain!
