Well to start off with I signed myself up to join grolier books, I saw the disney set advertised and thought they would made a lovely collection for my children. I was more than happy to buy the collection as advertised, one a month I think the agreement was, which was working perfectly well. But after a short while other books started arriving which I hadn't ordered, along with an invoice, I had to keep returning these books at a cost to me, then the phone calls started would I like to buy......... no thanks, I would say but they were sent anyway. Eventually I got fed up and tried to cancel my membership. Not that simple, at the time not sure if its changed now, but grolier didn't advertise a phone number. So I wrote to them explaining I wanted to cancel because of all these unwanted books being sent, many of which I ended up paying for because it was easier than sending them back. My requests were ignored and the books kept coming, I kept writing and informed them that I wouldn't be paying for anything else that arrived and I would treat any other parcels as a free gifts. This went on and on as did the red letters in time, along with threatening court action, I wrote my final letter forcefully saying that all the items they had sent against my requests were here for their collection. Much to my suprise a corrier called to collect them several months after delivery and my membership was cancelled.
I certainly regreted ever signing up to Grolier books. I finished my disney collection at a fraction of the price from ebay.
Overall the books are lovely but the stress and hassle isn't recommended.

We had exactly the same problem...several phone calls and many returned books later and they still kept coming!

Crazy that the books kept coming and coming... so many businesses are terribly organised and quite rubbish when it comes to customer service, and general listening. Good review. Alastair :o) x

Glad to hear you actually managed to cancel your membership eventually, so many of these book clubs don't even do that. x
