Advantages: Full Home Cinema kit with a large subwoofer Disadvantages: Compatability is a question and takes some time to set up
...After seeing this product advertised in Currys, I was pleased to see that it was also on sale. The retail price at the time of buying was £299.99 and considering what's in the package, this is a very good bargain.
The GrundigGDV520 is a DVD player, similar to the other Grundig models. It is pretty robust and has a nice exterior, although the silver finish is not to everyone's liking. The machine itself is very easy to use and has all the functions of a top-of-the-range player. The remote control even glows in the dark, useful for all those late night film watching sessions! The on-screen menus are simple to get to grips with and the pictures are all self explanatory. It has a nice speaker sound set up as well so you can test the Dolby Surround functions and get the speakers set up just right for your room.
This is where we get...

Advantages: Great all round DVD player as you get everything Disadvantages: Price
...THe grundig GVD 520 is a must have DVD player, for £300 pounds (but well worth it) you get the sound decoder, 5 50w surround sound speakers and a 80w Sub woofer whish certinly will let you feel a beat or in great out door films, the rumble on the ground. It is the best value for money when it comes to home cinema entertainment. The sound and picture quality is spot on!
The DVD player and the Decoder each take up the same space as an average video player, so together they can take up a bit of space, but they dont look overpowering.
It is very easy to set up (once you have a rough idea of what the instructons are showing) and it comes with everyhting you need, and a good lenght of wire so you shouldnt need to buy soe more to get the speakers where you want them in your room.
THe DVD player also has a good menue where it sugests places...

Advantages: . Disadvantages: No back up support. Poor customer relations
...I would not touch anything distributed by Grundig Australia again, our 42" plasma has spent over 4 months in the repair shop this year alone and it is only the beginning of October. They will not return telephone calls, they keep sending broken parts to their authorised repairer and then expect us to wait while they sort out their internal issues. The service shop advises they had no end to their problems with dealing with Grundig. We have an an home service warranty but still have to take and pick up our item. We continually have to ring and chase for any response. We've been promised a quick turnaround but to date have waited 8 weeks without contact.
If you want reliability and customer support, I cannot suggest strongly enough you give Grundig a wide berth...
