Guerlain Insolence Eau de Toilette - a little bit too bold

Advantages: Fairly pleasant scent; beautiful bottle; very good staying power
Disadvantages: Doesn't smell as expensive as it is; rather heavy and old-fashioned

I bought a selection of mini perfumes from Boots as a treat for myself - it was reduced to £8 and contained five fragrances so I thought that was pretty good value, and I really enjoy trying new perfumes. I had previously seen an advert for Guerlain Insolence. What struck me about that was that I really didn't like the name; insolence is defined as 'an arrogant, insulting or bold mode of conduct or attitude'. To me that doesn't seem anything to aspire to; perhaps they were aiming at a vaguely 'rebellious' teenage market, which would also explain why it's the sponsor for the programme Gossip Girl, which thankfully I have never had to watch. The bottle - even the miniature version I have - is really rather pretty, with a glass rose shape forming the lid, which sits on the rounded bottle at a jaunty angle. I applied the perfume to my ...

Kiss kiss kissable

Advantages: Lasting full-on shine
Disadvantages: Slightly sticky

.50 (Boots and Allders, similar prices at other cosmetic counters) you get a transparent plastic tube of 14.2grams (0.5oz). The top of the tube has a screw top which once open reveals and application panel. You apply the gloss directly from the tube which means you don't need a lip brush and don't need to get your fingers mucky. Perfect for application on the go. The applicator is slanted to give a lipstick shape and has a small hole where the gloss glides out onto your lips. The applicator is great if you are applying onto bare lips but it can get a bit mucky if you are applying over the top of lipstick as the colour rubs onto the applicator panel. I like the fresh scent of the gloss and it doesn't have that unusual synthetic smell/taste that other glosses have such as Elizabeth Arden 8 hr or cheaper own brand chemist versions ...

kiss kiss

Advantages: long lasting
Disadvantages: have to carry two lippies in your bag

I decided I would be a little braver this summer and shy away from the bronze and browns and get something a little fruiter so I needed to transform my make up bag. As I run my own cosmetics company I get to try lots of different products and I have been using the max factor stay put lipstick which I love. I thought I would try the lip finity this time as loads of my customers had been telling me how great it was. The one I bought was a light pink (the number escapes me). I followed the instructions on the packet, waiting before applying the top coat, which is not always easy when you just want to quickly re apply but it was worth it because I applied it at 8am before starting work and it still looked great after a full day at work, It did not need re applying all day. For a tougher test I wore it on a night out, I applied it ...
