If you’ve ever been in the market for a truly unique, individual fragrance, I may have just the thing for you. Samsara, by Guerlain, is a romantic, heady Oriental fragrance unlike most anything you have ever smelled before. In the bottle, it is completely unremarkable, in fact, I almost find it to be too strong. However, when combined with the body’s natural oils and the individual chemistry of each woman, it changes into an intoxicating aroma.
I first became aware of Samsara back in college. I had a close friend who came from a very wealthy family, and she always had a huge array of pricey fragrances from around the globe. However, her favorite was Samsara, and each time she would wear it, I fell in love with it more and more. One night we were getting ready to go out, and I asked if I could wear her perfume. I was amazed at how different the scent was on me, yet it was still every bit as mysterious, beautiful and memorable. While every perfume changes slightly on each individual who wears it, Samsara seems to tailor itself to the individual even more than most, resulting in a very personal, sensual fragrance.
Samsara is classified as an Oriental perfume -- it is not greeen, nor floral, and is indeed spicy with just a hint of woodsy. While there are floral elements to it, including ylang ylang, bergamot, and narcissus, these sweet notes are balanced by lemon, peach, sandalwood, amber, vanilla and musk. The result is a very warm, sexy scent, and without fail, it drives men wild.
Due to it’s intense nature, Samsara may not be a fragrance for everyone. It is very distinctive, and leaves an impression on whomever smells it. While some fragrances make lovely gifts, and are universally pleasing, Samsara really needs to be sampled by the individual who will be wearing it, to ensure that it works well with their body chemistry.
Also, Samsara is a tad expensive. At about $55 for a one ounce eau de parfum spray, it is not among the cheaper brands. However, I strongly recommend the EDP over the eau de toilette, as the scent will last hours longer.
Samsara is a fragrance for the individual, for the woman who wants to leave her mark wherever she goes. It is not for the timid or the shy, and is not an everyday scent. This should be reserved for nights out, and cooler seasons (it is particularly intoxicating in the autumn months), or even just a quiet night in with the object of your affection.
Advantages: A different smell Disadvantages: a bit overpowering
Whenever Christmas comes around, my two sons always buy me perfume. I do not have to worry as I think that their girlfriends pick the fragrances for them. The perfume is therefore normally quite modern an up with the times or at least I hope it is. This year I had a bottle of Samsara and a bottle of 5th Avenue. Both fragrances are very strong smelling although I cannot say that I prefer either. They are both very nice. Tact plays a large part in ... ...has a sweet smelling scent that I liken to a Channel type fragrance and it is produced by top designer Elizabeth Arden. The bottle is unusually tall to give the impression of more content. The applicator is a strong spray and I have had no problems with blockages or power loss to the nozzle. The same cannot be said for the Samsara bottle. Samsara comes in a Red bottle and has a slightly stronger smell. The bold smell gives a more elegant aroma which ...

Advantages: smells great Disadvantages: boring packaging
I discovered this perfume a few years ago, my flatmate donated a bottle to me as she was somehow allergic to it. I really like this perfume, it has a strong scent of musk and spices with a rich essence of vanilla and rose. Its smell reminds me of the Orient if that makes any sense. Although it is quite a heavy perfume, you can definitely get away with wearing it during the day. Although I really like this perfume, it has a few downsides, I would ... ...I don't think that the packaging is anything special, it isn't the kind of bottle you would keep for a dressing table ornament.
Anyway if your walking by the fragrance counter give this one a try, you may be pleasantly surprised. An advantage of this perfume is that it is one of the fragrances that Semi Chem sells, I saw it for £14.99 which is a great price (I told my boyfriend this in the hope he would take the hint). ...

I was shopping one day and a lady walked past wearing the most adorable scent that had ever touched my nostrils. I plucked up courage to speak to her as I had decided my mission was to get the name of the perfume. Why its Samsara she replied. Quick as a flash I found myself in the Debenhams cosmetic department buying the biggest bottle i could get. Squirt squirt. I drenched myself in the sweet, sultry tones and went home. My husband immediately noticed ... ...telling me to have it as my personal perfume. After that my Mum, Sister in law and many friends all asked the same question. Samsara has become the one thing I can't live without. Forget lipstick, Samsara's my friend. Go on spoil yourselves. You won't be disappointed!! ...

Advantages: It makes me feel good! Disadvantages: Can be heavy if you use too much
Samsara is made by French perfumier Guerlain. It is not a new ‘modern’, or ‘trendy’ type of fragrance and would not be suitable for the latest unisex ranges. It is a very feminine fragrance and one that is like no other. Its aroma is quite distinctive. It comes in a perfume and in an eau de toilette. The eau de toilette is lighter and less expensive than the perfume. This fragrance was first designed in 1989 and it was aimed at the kind of woman ... ...being too obvious. The name of the perfume is actually from a Sanskrit religious word which refers to the cycle, or circle of eternal rebirth. The bottle itself is red with a gold top and it comes in an equally stunning red box. I would describe the fragrance as sandalwood with a touch of amber and musk. The musk is not too heavy in this case although I do sometimes find musky fragrances over powering. Samara Eau de Toilette is suitable for everyday ...

...immediately walked over to the Guerlain counter and purchased the biggest bottle I could afford.
That was nearly 20 years ago and I still haven't found a perfume that comes anywhere close to Samsara♥
Its distinctive warm, musky sexy scent will stay with you all day. It does tend to smell different on various women, but I feel that adds to its attraction.
All my family know me by this scent, and I'm glad the fragrance will always remind them ...

I've been a Guerlain lover for years, but have been disappointed with some recent fragrances. Exalting Aroma Allegoria is my favorite since Samsara. It is rich but not overpowering. Notes include cedarwood and cinnamon, vanilla tonka bean and sandalwood. It's very smooth and not too spicy.
There are 2 other Aroma Allegoria fragrances offered from Guerlain. When I read the details on guerlain.com, I knew the fragrance notes in Exalting were more my style.
Guerlain just offers the 75ml eau de parfum right now. The bottle is a simple 'decanter' style with a gold cap that twists to spray. There are gold painted rings around the bottle; it is pretty on my dressing table. I purchased it from beautybase.com. The price is 26.00 GBP or $38.21 US dollars. ...
Advantages: Sexy, not too heavy, suitable for day and night Disadvantages: scent fades after a few hours
and Guerlain’s Samsara. I also love spicy fragrance on men, I think they are very sexy and smell so comforting and warm.
However, I do think that such fragrances really do suit the older man. I think younger men tend to suit the lighter, fresh, fruity scents.
Moschino pour homme is definitely a fragrance for the sophisticated older men. It is a mature scent that probably wouldn’t suit a teenager or someone in their early twenties. The kind of man I imagine wearing this would be Roger Moore (who, incidentally, was the first man I ever had a crush on, at the age of 10 I imagined what our wedding day would be like and how many babies we would have!).
This scent is definitely one for the James Bond types, complete with greying hair (by the way guys, if you have greying hair please DO NOT dye it, grey hair is a huge turn ...
