A totally sensual, bewitching fragrance. more
Shalimar is an adult woman scent. It is intoxicatingly exotic and subtly sensous without being even remotely overpowering. It does not state boldly, it hints obliquely and all the more seductively. It is thus not suited for the teenage or twen market. Its wearers are proud to be mature!
This perfume is one of the oldest commercially-manufactured French perfumes. It contains sandalwood, speices (particularly vanilla and cinnamon), iris, hesperides and opopanax in a base of amber. It has excellent lasting power, even in the eau de toilette version.
There is a lovely story to the naming of this scent: Shah Jehan became the Emperor of India over 300 years ago. Of all his wives, his favourite was Mumtaz Mahal. It is said he loved her unto madness, that she was not his wife, but his fever.
Jehan created a series of gardens for her at Lahore, the like of which had never been seen before: The Gardens of Shalimar.

Advantages: Im passionate about it Disadvantages: ...
I think I am a quite modern girl, net-addicted and stuff like that, but in perfume Im the most classical and grandma-like you could imagine.
I just dont understand (and i dont like) the smelling stuff its coming to the market in these days. The most of them smells like cleaning products or so...
(But I love Azuree Soleil, from Estee Lauder, launched in limited edition last year, but I cant find it anymore. If anybody knows were I can find it...)
... ...I think the most recent that Im addicted its Coco, launched in the end of the 70s, but my favourite is, no doubt, Shalimar.
I think the first time I sniff it I was around 18 years old, but I only gain one when I made 22 or 23, dont remember. Not much money in student ages, you know...
I love it from the first sniff. Its a mystical thing: it makes me travel to castles and rich woods and velvet curtains, candle lights and long dresses. Travelling ...

...the way with Shalimar, as Guerlain also offers things like shower gel, soap, body lotion, and even a perfumed deodorant stick all with the seductive Shalimar fragrance. I also find that I can wear Shalimar all year round, it's not tied to any season (I like to wear citrus scents only during summer and heavier oriental ones during the colder months). I've always had Shalimar on my fragrance tray and I'm sure you'd enjoy it also. ...

Having used Guerlain's Shalimar for a number of years already, I was surprised (and a bit shocked) when I received Champs-Elysees for Valentine's Day. As it turned out, it's a pretty fragrance that I do like to wear during the day. It has a flowery headnote, but also comes over with a "woody" touch. It contains mimosa leaf and mimosa flower, almond flower, rose petal, hibiscus seed and almond wood. It's not one of those strong floral fragrances that make you gasp for air when someone wearing it passes by you. It's more subtle than that and I find it quite pleasant and have gotten many compliments on it. ...
I love all things Guerlain. I´ve owned all the perfumes at one time or another. If you love sweet, seductive scents, you´ll love L´Heure Bleu. I bought it when I wanted a change from Guerlain´sShalimar. This is in the same league, really, a come-hither scent. I imagine this would be just right for a teenager, who´s just found her own sensuousness and wants to declare it to the world. The price isn´t quite right for her, though - but this is one of the fine fragrances, not any supermarket cheapie! So, you can always hope to get some for your birthday! Might be a bit hard to find, too - it is not in the top ten in any tax-free, so you or your potential present buyer should go to a nice department store. Not an airport quickie then. ...
Advantages: Fine, timeless, beautifully composed, very long-lasting Disadvantages: None I can think of
of vanilla and amber that add a very warm, sensual layer to the skin. The natural skin friendly oils stay on the skin all day long and even after a shower. The base is velvety and sexy, comfortable and gourmand at the same time. L'Instant base notes are mainly made up of vanilla, some light amber while all this is accompanied by a nice dollop of honey.
Conclusion
Guerlain is one of the oldest houses that since its establishment in 1828 has created history in the making of such perfumes as Shalimar and Vetiver which are still enjoyed and loved by many today.
For me L'Instant is the epitome of natural, timeless beauty and simple, fuss-free luxury. It is tender, luminous and ultimately sensual. I find it suitable for all ages, all occasions and maybe with the
exception of summer, it can be worn in all colder seasons. For summer, L ...
