Advantages Value for money
Disadvantages Still fairly unknown
Guildford festival is still fairly small and new in comparison to those established ones such as Reading and Glastonbury. However in the past few years it is now offering a better variety of bands, including current or crowd-pulling ones, whereas it used to be full of 'has-beens' and 'unheard-ofs'!!
Although it is local to me I haven't yet attended this 3 day festival because there haven't been enough bands playing of interest to me to warrant spending the money on. However this year they offer, as I previously said, a greater variety and more known names. Among them Motorhead, Terrorvision, Culture Club, Jools Holland, Stiff Little Fingers, david Gray and many others so I imagine this will be one of the most popular years there.
Some people argue that there are too many festivals appearing in this last few years but given the size of the country this gives more people the opportunity to attend and see bands for a fraction of the pirce of your average music venue. That can only be a good thing!
