I have played on Guitar Hero World Tour and found the layout of that to be very horrid! It was very dark and boring, and looked rather "tacky". PLAYING: Very easy to use. Starting the game, and beginning a career profile couldn't be quicker! The difficulties can range from complete beginner, to a difficulty for people who really have nothing better to do! You will get better scores for harder songs, which earns you money on the game. On the game you can buy new guitars, new outfits for characters, and even more songs to play free on the game. (notice playing these songs cannot earn you more money). If you really are that bad at it, you can always try practice mode, and the tutorials are very helpful!
LOOKS / LAYOUT: A great feature of this particular guitar hero is the way it looks. I have played on Guitar Hero World Tour and found the layout of that to be very horrid! It was very dark and boring, and looked rather "tacky". But Guitar Hero 5 has a nice "warming" feel to it, and you can get rather attached to it. It's very easy to see what to do, with easy instructions of what to press, to get to where you want to on the game.
GUITAR CONTROLLER: The guitar controller is fantastic! Much nicer than the Guitar Hero 1 and 2 models, but annoying without the "slide bar" featured on newer guitar controllers. This controller is very to use with the arrow buttons on the guitar, where the usual switch would be on a Gibson Les Paul. The whammy bar is very easy to use (you can have it facing any direction you like), and the fret buttons are nice and easy to press. This Guitar Hero controller is meant to be that of the Gibson Les Paul owned by Slash (as on the front cover of the game), this makes you feel like a guitar God! The controller is very easy to put away, with a detachable neck and the face plate can be removed and changed (other face plates are bought separately). You can decorate this guitar to your own looks, with the stickers in the box (when you buy the controller box version). And, you can even use your very own guitar strap which is normally used on real guitars. This controller is wireless, and the batteries can last a very long time, which is great if your a real rocker who likes to jump around the room!
VALUE FOR MONEY: I must admit that when this first came out, it did take a load of weight out our pockets, but now you can find cheaper second hand versions, now that the newer games have been released. The box set contains everything you want, so you don't have top buy anything else.
DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT: There is a huge range of downloadable songs from the Playstation online store, they do cost, but they are great! A good purchase is the whole of the Metallica Death Magnetic album, which first came out when it was even new for CD! There are also smaller game paks you can purchase with just 3 or 4 songs, which are great! The songs are quick and easy to download with no fuss.
GRAPHICS AND SOUND: Being a game all about music, this has to have great sound - which it doesn't... instead it has fantastic sound! I love to play this game with a surround sound system, and it's lovely. You can hear the cheering background of fans in the background, with scorching guitar solos (which you are playing) bursting out from the front of the stage. The graphics are delicious. The characters look really good, and they are very nice moving too! The crowd even looks great. You can tell no time was spent rushing when this game was made.
MULTI-PLAYING: This game is the ultimate fun with a group of friends, you can sow off what you have got, in style! And if your a bit of a larry loser (which I'm sure your not) you can just play online, with people from all over the world. It's quick and easy to start a game with anyone online. You can either jump into someone else's game, or set the game yourself ,and let someone jump into your game!
This game has to be one of the best games i have ever played. It has started something new in gaming at home, and even arcade gaming. So if you (or your child) wants something new this year treat them to this, and you will get used to it in seconds!
Advantages: Challenging, good 2 player fun, online play, downloadable content Disadvantages: lacks the entire band feel of rock band, downloads are a bit pricy
...assume that everyone knows what guitar hero is, since this is now the 4th installment in the series (if we also include the Guitar Hero: Rock's the 80s game).
For those that dont, you have to press the correct fret buttons down with your left hand, and strum the strum bar with your right hand at the right time. Pretty simple.
Graphics
What distinguishes GH3 from the others in the series is firstly, an improvement in graphics. Although they dont ... ...of the previous Guitar Hero games will reveal exactly how chunky and blocky the circular notes that appeared on the screen used to appear. Hammer Ons and Pull Offs (HO-POs)
HO-POs can be identified by the notes with white circles around them - this allows the player to play the note without strumming, ie just by tapping the right fret with the left hand. These have been made significantly easier in GH3 than the other games, and the window seems ...

In Guitar Hero III your band battles guitar icons Tom Morello and Slash in a journey to become rock legends. The story follows you as you progress from a garage band to a supporting act, then to your first head lining gig before you set out on a world tour and so on.

Advantages: Downloading your favourite tracks Disadvantages: Harder levels are almost impossible!
Guitar Hero 3 is a very interesting game. The aim is to become a world class Guitar Player by playing well-known songs on the hand-held guitar that comes with the game.
You begin as a rookie, where you are taught the buttons to press, which co-ordinate with the musical notes that appear on screen, in a similar style to the way a dance mat works. It is initially quite complicated, as you have to "train" your fingers to hit the correct buttons on ... ...will fail miserably the first few times and get "boo'ed" off stage! But don't worry, you're mind seems to pick these things up amazingly well and soon enough you'll complete your first song, hitting the correct notes at the correct time. Then there's no stoppin' your rockin'!
There are various skill levels, and in leach level, you are given gradually more difficult songs, making the learning curve quite gradual.
I found this game brilliant, it ...

Advantages: Revolutionary Wii remote technology, cheap and a wide variety of games Disadvantages: You need space so things don't get broken
The Wii is a fantastic console - in terms of beth technology and value for money. For just £180 (cheap when compared to the sky-high Xbox 360 and PS3) you'll get a revolutionary system complete with Wii remote, nunchuk controller, Wii sports and plenty of features stuffed in.
I have had my Wii for over a year now and have still not tired of the versatility in the gaming it offers.
The Wii offers popular games like GuitarHeroIII at a lower price than that of the Xbox 360 and PS3 (and what a game it is, too) and at the same time can still offer games like The Godfather - Blackhand Edition, in which the use of the Wii remote and nunchuk make the gaming experience some of the best fun I've had in years.
All I can say is if you've been saving up for a PS3 (a mountain, I know)... buy a Wii and games package instead and get much more ...

Advantages: Good with getting people togheter. lots of songs to play LOADS of new features. Disadvantages: Costs quiet alot but its worth the money
Whether you're playing it on 360, PS3, PS2, or Wii, GuitarHeroIII is pretty much the same experience. You'll hit falling notes by strumming a single string button while holding one - or multiple - fret buttons in a classic DDR fashion. Despite being built entirely from the ground up by Activision this time around, the game feels great, changing only a few specifics during its move. Notes have a larger window of time to be hit (something you may love or hate depending on how musically minded you already are), but the game also has a lower overall tolerance for missed notes.
As with the other versions of GHIII, Wii gamers will find that the easy mode is extremely simple, while expert has taken the series to a whole new level of difficulty. You'll find more runs, more of a necessity for hammer-on and pull-off techniques (which ...
Advantages: Uses the old PS2 platform Disadvantages: still costs you a minimum of £30
By all accounts Rock and Roll should have been finished by 1959, and the Playstation 2 should have be a ?dead? platform by 2005 ?but somehow, both refuse to die.
We still listen to a surprising amount of four chord sixteen bar riffs, and the PS2 continues to be the highest volume games console of all time.
GuitarHeroIII ?Legends of Rock? masterfully exploits both anomolies.
GuitarHero is available on a number of formats ? including Nintendo DS, Xbox, PC and PS3 HOWEVER the humble PS2 is still in the frame and capable of providing if not endless hours of entertainment, at the very least, a distraction during a wet Bank Holiday weekend.
It?s entirely possible to play the PS2 version using the standard controller ? although it isn?t that much fun.
The game revolves around adopting a character ? and playing a series of ?live ...
