Advantages easy to play, great graphics, great sound

Disadvantages Not all metallica songs

One of my favorite games for the Xbox 360, is Guitar Hero 3; Legends of Rock, and since the release of that one, there has been many other releases, including Guitar Hero Metallica. Also being a fan of Metallica, I was quite excited to get this one once it was released, as it combined two of my favorite things!

I waited a little while to buy it after release though, as I find that although I enjoy the Guitar Hero games, I do not think they are worth paying high prices for. I bought Guitar Hero Metallica as a stand alone game, as I already had the guitar controller from the previous games. You can also buy it with the guitar controller in a bundle pack if you do not already have one, or if you want to have an extra one for the multiplayer functions of the game.

This game is also compatible with the "band bundle" from Guitar Hero World Tour, which means that you are also able to play drums and use the microphone on this game. You can use just one of the controllers, or the whole band kit and have fun with up to four people playing at the same time. This is great for when I have friends over and we feel like having some fun for a couple of hours. It really is a fun, social way to play a game or two on the Xbox 360.

I initially thought that this game would just be great Metallica songs that I could play through, but alas I was some what wrong. Yes, there is a good amount of Metallica songs, but there is also a lot of other bands thrown in, some of which I do not know if anyone has heard of, and not all the songs they have added are exactly fun to listen to, or fun to play. There is a total of 49 songs on the game, and 28 of these are songs by Metallica, the other 21 are from other bands.

Some of the other bands that are featured on the game are: Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, Machine Head, Judas Priest, System Of A Down and Lynard Skynard. All the bands come from the same rock genre as Metallica, and I think that the creators have done well in making sure the music all fits together, and rock fans should enjoy the choice of tracks on this game.

This game has a few different play modes available, including free play and career mode. The free play enables you to just pick a song (or a few) and play them on a difficulty setting of your choice, easy, medium, hard or expert. Career mode means you start at the beginning of a set list, and work your way through it until you can start on the next set list. This is the main way I play, and I must say it is more enjoyable when you feel like you are working towards something whilst playing it.

When it comes to gameplay itself, the games are relativley easy to play. I found that the older versions of Guitar Hero are a lot harder to play, and even the brand new players could find this game quite easy to play. I completed this game quite quickly, and even when I played it on a harder level, I still completed it very quickly and I did not find it to be much of a challenge. I like games to produce some sort of challenge, and this disappointed me a little bit.
