From my point of view this is a great game, not only because it lets you rock out to some of the best rock and metal songs out there, but you can also play the other parts of the band too!
To begin with, the game itself is very well presented like the previous versions, and you now have a greater level of customisation of the characters you play with and the instruments you play. The game modes have changed, you still have the solo modes where you can now play guitar, bass, drums or you can sing. With the new guitar it's much the same as before, but there are a couple of changes to the way you play. As well as the whammy bar you now have a touch sensitive bar on the fret board which you can use either for tapping fast sections, or you can use on long notes to create a wha wha effect. The other main difference is the inclusion of tapping notes on fast sections. Rather than previous games where you have to hit the first note then hit the other notes like legato notes, you now have purple surrounded notes which you can just tap on the fret board. This is absolutely invaluable to some solo's especially the final song, Satch Boogie.
The bass mode is pretty straight forward, and the only difference you have to contend with is open notes, which to a bass player make total sense, you just hit the note with no colours pressed down.
The drum mode is great. As a drummer myself it's great fun, but I find timing can be difficult sometimes. Where I think the notes should be and where the game expects to find them are sometimes two different things, that said it's great fun and the higher levels are really challenging with some tricky patterns to hit. There are also fill sections where you can hit any notes and get points, but you get more points for playing a fill that's in time with the music.
The final mode, singing is in my opinion the ultimate rock karaoke. You have to sing the songs with some accuracy to get the best score and to stop being booed off. There are also sections where you can 'freestyle' or sing anything that fits, and 'shout out' sections where you shout messages to the crowd, again to get extra points.
And the best thing, once you have a few friends round, you can all grab an instrument and rock out together. There's a band mode where up to four can play along together on all the instruments, this does require two guitars but if like me you already own guitar hero three then that's sorted. In this mode each player can choose their difficulty level, and during the course of the game, if one player is struggling they can use star power that other players have won to keep them all in the game. And iff all your friends can't be in the same room at the same time you can team up with players on the internet and play the band mode there. And if you want the other battle modes are still there from the previous games, face off and pro face off.
The song selection is the widest yet for the guitar hero series, from the Beastie Boys to Jimi Hendrix, and styles from classic rock to metal and prog rock. There are special characters that you have to meet through the game such as Travis Barker on drums, Jimi Hendrix on guitar and Ozzy Ozbourne joins you on vocals. You have to beat these characters on different game modes in head to head battles. This time it's just a simple musical battle, you have to play better than the character, all the powerups and weapons from the previous games are gone, which I think is a shame as I think it added a fun extra element to the game. All the tracks in this game are original masters taken from the original artists source material. Either taken from the original studio sessions (I don't think Jimi Hendrix was available) and some bands have gone back into the studio and created new master tracks for this game.
Overall the difficulty level is lower than guitar hero 3 where I haven't quite completed the game on hard, the last few tracks are just on the side of booing me off. Whereas on World Tour i've completed the game on hard (even the brilliant Satch Boogie at the end) and have managed to get a fair way through the tracks on Expert. You can now play individual tracks as part of a campaign on different difficulty levels, unlike legends of rock where if you come up against a track that's too hard you're stuck, you can simply drop a single track down to a lower difficulty level and continue with the campaign, you can always go back and try and complete the harder level later.
The hardware is decent and the build quality appears to have improved from the previous games with the switches on the guitar feeling more solid and quieter than the previous guitar hero 3 axe. The drums are of a decent quality and actually give a decent amount of feedback and bounce that I would expect from an electronic set. The microphone is a simple USB plug-in microphone, and while it's nothing special, it's perfectly adequate for this game. The only place where Wii players loose out in some respects is that apart from the microphone which plugs straight into the Wii, the guitar and Drums require a separate Wiimote, which instantly adds an extra £20-30 per instrument depending where you get your games hardware from, that said the Wii versions of the game packs are generally that bit cheaper than the other consoles so it does offset the cost a bit.
Guitar Hero World Tour!!
No content to just have the Guitar Hero game for my Wii, last month I also bought the Guitar Hero World Tour package to really rock out. For all you failed rockers out there this is the game for you. You can be part of your own band and have all your mates round to recreate your very best Guns and Roses or the like.
The game pack comes with the game disc software, a drum kit, a guitar and a microphone. We bought the game ... ...to go with it. The guitar is plastic and I would say almost as big as a real guitar but not quite. It looks and feels like a real guitar so already the game has an authentic feel to it. It comes with a strap that you can detach and that allows you to put over your head and hold onto the guitar safely, much like a real one. When you first start out with the guitar the funniest part for us was the stickers that came with it that allow you to customise ...

Advantages: Great gameplay, Awesome soundtrack Disadvantages: Multiplayer functions can be frustrating
...game rocks! I have played guitar hero 2 and 3 before and thoroughly enjoyed them and this game does not disappoint. The guitar part is very much the same as in previous versions using the supplied guitar to press the buttons as they come up on screen and strumming when they go across the strum bar. They have also added a touch pad to the guitar which you can use to strum. However if you use this to strum it can be tempramental at times and strum ... ...very similar to playing the guitar except there are different notes and it tends to be slightly easier than the guitar. There is also a drum kit that comes with it. Personally I think this is the hardest instrument as when playing on the more difficult levels you have to hit two pads at the same time. It feels like rubbing my stomach and patting my belly at the same time. If I practised a bit more I think I might get the hang of it though. There ...

Advantages: New band instruments, more guitars and songs Disadvantages: None at all
This new version of Guitar Hero is very different for one main reason, it now includes a drum kit and microphone. World Tour takes Guitar Hero up a level, so that now four people can all play together at once. The standard band pack typically costs about £120 for the Nintendo Wii. In the band pack the player is going to recieve everything they need for the game, a guitar, microphone, and a drum kit. Unfortunately an extra guitar has to be purchased ... ...those who have never played Guitar Hero before, this is a fantastic introduction into the game. It offers more songs than any previous Guitar Hero game, and can have even more added with additional expansion packs, which I think can be purchased for around £20 - £30 each. THere are also many different customisable guitars, including all the favourites, the obvious being the Gibson Les Paul. Guitar Hero mantains the same gameplay as all previous games ...

Review of Guitar Hero: World Tour (Wii)
Advantages: realy easy to play ,loads of songs you will enjoy Disadvantages: the graphics
Guitar hero world tour where can i start.I bought this game about 2 weeks after the guitar hero 3 and i am very pleased.Their is a much wider range of songs than before ranging from relatively modern bands like paramore to good old classics like metalica .The over all graphics as expected for the wii are not what u would call next generation and are kinda cartoon but are good enough to enjoy the game.Seems relay easy to set up a new game and get ... ...same as before you do guitar battles with a few rock gods, unlock various items of clothing for your rocker, enjoy a wide range of guitars to choose from including design your own guitar, and a new feature for this version is being able to make your own songs up on music creator. over all this game then is reasonable priced for the amount of fun you will have ,its easy to use with al ot more songs than the last game .Oh and as for game play time don't ...

Advantages: Great fun and easy to play Disadvantages: Require 3 remotes to play all instruments at once
Wow, this game is just amazing fun! It's certainly the most entertaining console game I have ever owned. I love having the 3 instruments to give you a bit of variety in the game, all of which are very enjoyable, especially when you have got a few friends round to rock with you! The song choice is good, but not superb - only a fraction of the songs are recognised as mainstream "classics", however for the real rockers there is a great variety of tracks.
... ...the game and unlock new songs!
You do however require a wii remote for each of the 3 instruments, which will mean you'll have to fork out and extra 30 pounds for each extra remote.
The karaoki can also be difficult at times (if you have a small screen) as the lyrics are hard to read.
However the game is really good fun and definately worth buying. ...

Advantages: The console is Cheap, Fun to play and is fun for the whole family. Disadvantages: The graphics let the cosole down and the controller is har dto get used to.
the small size of the remote. The built in wifi makes it easy to find applications on the web. You can download classic Nintendo games called virtual console games. Also wifi has enhanced online gameplay espicially with guitarheroworldtour, where you can download content. Not only does the wii play wii games, but it also plays gamecube games. there is also a slot on the top where you can play with gamecube controllers. There is also a SD slot for storage and viewing pictures. They also give you a trial of the wii as you get wii sports with the console.
THE BAD PARTS
For starters the controller eats batteries and is hard to get used to, but when you do get used to it, it can be very enjoyable. But a big let down was the graphics and the sound effects. Not only does the console not have HD, but the graphics could still be improved. One more ...
