Semi hollow, but a whole guitar!
Review of Epiphone The Dot Electric Guitar by
monkeybutler100
Advantages: Extremely versatile and gorgeous too!
Disadvantages: People with tiny hands need not apply.
I've owned an Epiphone Dot for over a year now, so I know it intimately. Well, as intimately as a man can get with a guitar anyway! I guess I'll start with the basics for anyone who's just starting out.
The Dot is a semi hollow electric guitar, This means thats it has a solid block of wood running lengthways through the body, but has hollow chambers on either side. This means it is more audible than a standard solid electric guitar unplugged, but ... ...often a problem with all Epiphone guitars). When I first bought the guitar, the selector WAS a little crackly, but after a couple of weeks it was fine - I just put it down to some dirt. Just to make a correctiont to the other review here - dont expect a "standard Gibson shape" headstock. Its an Epi headstock, and its massive(!)
HOW DOES IT FEEL?
Well, contrary to the other review here, if youre expecting a light guitar with it being a semi, then ...

My les Paul Custom
Review of Epiphone Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar by
harmonic_overtones
Advantages: Looks Great, brilliant sutain, action, basically all of the features of the Gibson Les Paul
Disadvantages: Imitation pickups
I bought this guitar about a year ago now and it has become much loved by me. When I saw it in the guitar shop, I was just stunned by how beautiful it looked for the price. A little test drive was enough to confirm to me that it is what I was looking for. Back then I was not really serious as a guitar player, and thereore didn't know much about what a good guitar was etc. so I have started to appreciate its qualities over time more and more. If you ... ...without a doubt, here are my reasons:
Appearance
The guitar is built mainly from mahogany incorporating a maple top to give it better tone. My guitar is the Heritage Cherry Sunburst version, and I think that this is the best by far, as you get to see the beatiful highly polished wood finish. The fret inlays are perloid, which is good enough, although it may look a bit arificial for some peoples tastes it is but a minor flaw. The split-diamond headstock ...

Casino Bigsby.... bigger and better
Review of Epiphone Casino Electric Guitar by
TonytheTone
Advantages: cheap, good sound, nice colour, very good construction
Disadvantages: wimpy tuners
FIRST OF ALL:
I recently bought a Casino, the new Casino Bigsby. I own four other guitars, a Rickenbacker 360/12v64, a Gibson j160e, a Gretsch Country classic 1962 II and a US fender stratocaster. Still the Casino is one of the best guitars I have ever played. I play in a Beatles tribute band, I play the role of Harrison, and of course the Casino was a must. So when I spotted the Casino Bigsby, I was in Love right away and lucky enough for me this ... ...real must-have for every Beatle maniac ;o)
ABOUT THE CASINO:
Almost everything about this guitar is pure joy, the playing action, the construction, the sound. The only thing about this guitar I don´t like is the fake Kluson-style tuners. These should have been swabbed into something better before it left the factory. THE SOUND:
The sound in this guitar is perfect. It has the treble of a vintage ES335 and the playability of a Stratocaster. All ...

legendary epiphone gothic
Review of Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar by
KB4000
Advantages: great sound
Disadvantages: need a decent amp to go with it
Well what a guitar this has to be my favourite guitar that i own. It looks great, sounds great and lets just face it its great. On stage it has never let me down it never sounds bad though this may because of my marshall amp but the two go together nicely. You may say that its the cheap version of the Gibson you would be right but it uses basicly all the same things its just the gibsons are hand made.
The clean sound on this guitar is great sounds ... ...jonny b good or the classic summer of 69 obviously you can do them distorted but i thought that they sounded fantastic on clean.
Well when my band wanted to do the darkness in the concert i thought i would use a much rocky guitar than this so i tried my flying v but i thought naaa tried this and the distorted sound was just incredible i manged to get the perfect sound.
I have noticed that a few people have had input problems this is quite common ...

A good starter guitar
Review of Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar by
mrs_mccartney
Advantages: Endorsed by Fender, very well made.
Disadvantages: Little choice of colour and hard to get left-handed.
...same factories as the "normal" Fender guitars and is of almost the same quality; just a reduced price tag. There are 2 types of Squier, and the Standard is the better of the 2. This guitar has everything the more expensive models have, and I have even seen some people performing on stage with these types rather than the full-price Strats.
It is of a medium weight, and generally speaking, you will need to factor in the cost of a gig bag to carry ... ...even then it's still great value as a starter guitar. The colours and designs are more limited than its more pricey brothers and sisters but having said that, because it's cheap, you could always have fun customising its look for yourself. They are also pretty robust and are easy to clean.
I did find it hard to get myself my left handed model though, so you may need to order it in specially if you need it. ...
