Second hand /88 sg Re-issue
Advantages: Its a Gibson. Small, light body. Great sound Disadvantages: Fragile neck
Having just bought a Gibson SG '61 Re-issue I thought I would let everyone know how good it is.
It was made in 1988 and is in good condition for its age. I had never played an SG before getting this one so I was taking a bit of a chance but I am glad I did. It is like a cross between a Les Paul and a strat and might well be the most versatile guitar that I have ever played ( I have played quite a few )
The build quality is great and I think the ... ...the original so much that Gibson re-released it.
Soundwise it is similar to a Les Paul but with a slightly thinner sound. sometimes a Les Paul can be overpowering but the SG doesn't have that problem.
The pickups are PAF copies so they aren't too powerful, great for classic rock or blues but not so good for heavier styles such as heavy metal.
The guitar holds it's tuning pretty well. ...

Classic!
Advantages: Lovely to play and being a Les Paul you can be assured of its quality Disadvantages: Bit on the pricey side but well worth it in my opinion
Although ive never owned this guitar one of my friends has and it is one of the nicest pieces of equipment you could ever wish to play. Couple this with a Marshall amp and cab and there is no better way to play guitar and no rival for the sound that can be produced by even the most incompetent of guitarists like myself! The humbucker pickups are of the best quality and with the three way selection switch which all Les Pauls now come with as standard, ...

gibson sg by willc
Advantages: great origional sounding guitar that you can never get bored of Disadvantages: in my opinion the guitar doesnt have any disadvantages.
This is a really classical and original guitar used by bands such as AC/DC. I've had this guitar for 3 years now and i still never get bored playing it. The guitar has a really nice worn varnish finish and two amazing double humbuckers great for blues and rock style music. The sg produces a variety of elegant tones which i never get bored of. The fretboard is very rounded and sort of slides into the palm which makes it easy to navigate around the ... ...suits many different styles of music. The shape of the body makes it really easy to reach those high frets and the long neck makes it easy to play quite low beefy riffs. Its a attractive guitar and has a certain originality about it. The scratch plate compliments the worn colour and the volume/tone controls become a second part to the guitar. The guitar has a through neck and is very light. ...

Gibson Byrdland (2007)
Advantages: Versatile sound, easy to play. Disadvantages: Shorter neck a little cramped for some "fat" chords.
...someday acquire the "epitome", the Gibson Byrdland. I finally managed to acquire a new Natural finish Florentine Cutaway model (Ted Nugent's favorite) in the past few years. Although much like the Epiphone Sorrento, the body is slightly thicker and larger. The shorter neck scale (23.5 inch) was immediately notably different from the Sorrento's (24.75 inch) scale and took some getting used to. The fit and finish were first rate and aside from the ... ...play. The unplugged and amplified tonal quality is "very good to excellent " Although slightly heavier than the Sorrento, it is not a burden after several hours of play like some of the heavy solid body guitars. For me it seems to be a very good guitar for much of the music I play but not a great guitar for all of the music I play. Some of the "fat" maj7 chords seem to be a little cramped as I go up the neck. In any case, I am very happy with my ...

Sweet sounding
Advantages: Great sounding equipment Disadvantages: Pricey
...one at some stage.
The Gibson workmanship and quality is written all over this guitar.
The only problem I have with it are strings.
I tend to wreck a lot of strings playing this. Its not really meant for the hammer I give it so the metalwork on the head tends to rub them silly.
SNAP goes the Top E
SNAP goes the B
sometimes SNAP goes the G!
I have lessened this by using 2 B's and tuning one up to an E. Gives it more strength.
AS for staying ...
