My Love affair with a D28
Review of Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar by johnboycoastie

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None that I know

The C.F. Martin Company is an american guitar manufacturer established in 1833, and have consistantly produced some of the worlds finest acoustic gutars. Used by stars like Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash and many many others. The D28 design was first introduced around 1934, and is almost unchanged since. The letter D indicates that it is a dreadnought size body, and the number 28 is the design number. A standard 14 fret design, built from Rosewood, Mahogany, ...
...and played a D28 for some years now, and am delighted with every aspect of the instrument. The build quality, looks and feel of the instrument leave you in no doubt that this is a quality instrument. It very capably handles hard driving rhythm playing, with a strong but balanced sound, and will respond equally well to gentle fingerpicking styles. A beautifully balanced instrument, that if cared for will last a lifetime, and improve with age, as ... Read review

Well strung guitar
Review of Martin D-42 Acoustic Guitar by lionel_richie

Advantages: A good guitar
Disadvantages: bit big

This guitar has a good sound to it, it a little bit large for my liking but it has a pure sound to it and i can see why a lot of people would like to buy this guitar. I bought this for my son, who enjoyed it for a while until i bought him a better one for example an encore. this is a very guitar for a beginner but the more experienced musician might prefer to have a slightly more expensive and better quality instrument. All in all i think that if ... Read review

Martin D-15: Worth buying at the right price...
Review of Martin D-15 Acoustic Guitar by jsilver

Advantages: Quality guitar with great sound
Disadvantages: Perhaps not quite worth the rrp

...£130 (used), and whilst the Martin certainly sounds better, it doesn't sound anywhere near 4 or 5-times better than the Yamaha. I think it may be worth saving a bit more money and buying a higher end Martin and buying a Yamaha FG series guitar until then as they are in my opinion the best value quality acoustic guitars available. ... Brief Encounter with a DXM
Review of Martin DXM Acoustic Guitar by johnboycoastie

Advantages: CF Martin Name
Disadvantages: Fails to deliver expectations

...had always longed for a Martin Guitar, and fell for the temptation of the relatively low cost Martin DXM. I bought the instrument for about £350, and went home thinking that I had made the big time. Wrong.... After a brief honeymoon period, I soon realised that this was a poor relation to the higher priced Martins, and that the composite material used for the guitar top was not able to produce the sound that you expect from a guitar with this name ...
...but the reality was a dissapointment. So I'm sorry mr Martin, you should have kept up your standards and stayed with your normally high quality instruments. My advice to potential buyers, unless you desperately want the CF Martin name at a budget price, look for better value from another maker. ... Read review

The Best Money Can Buy
Review of Martin SPD-16W Acoustic Guitar by lfjewell

Advantages: Looks/Sound/Playability
Disadvantages: Price (if your cheap)

...to hand-crafted guitars, the CF Martin Company does have a bit of a head start on its competition. It's that they've been making guitars since 1833 or so, and it just so happens that they are very much a part of acoustic guitar folklore in the minds of acoustic guitarists worldwide. While the stories of people haphazardly discovering old pre-war Martins may bring a mist to the eyes of many admirers and collectors, the C.F. Martin Company has worked ...
...From the classic understated Martin headstock, to the modified snowflake fingerboard pattern, to the tortoise colored binding, to the 4 point abalone snowflake design on the bridge, this guitar says "Special Edition." To top it all off, the guitar is signed by C.F. Martin IV himself on the interior label. All in all we found this guitar to be very responsive to the dynamics of both touch and sound projection. It gets high marks across the board. ... Read review
