I was looking to upgrade my 17" Acer 1712 LCD which was 4 years old to something much bigger and better and decided after already having a 19" Hannsg monitor in the family which worked brilliantly to do quite a bit of research on the internet.

I then decided that the best bang for buck was this 22" model (actual size 21.6").The monitor arrived on a next day delivery which was very fast from http:// www.ebuyer.co.uk and cost £146.97,which for a 22" LCD monitor especially with HDMI is an absolute steal.

The monitor is well protected with polystyrene blocks and everything is sealed in plastic packaging,all inside a very sturdy cardboard package.Inside the box you get a VGA cable, european power lead, a uk power lead,speaker lead and guarantee along with a software/driver cd, quick start guide and not forgetting the 22" monitor and its stand.

The stand is a simple push fit into the base of the monitor where it clicks into place easily, to remove the base again requires a bit of gentleness whilst squeezing both lugs to release.

The monitor has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, Image Brightness 300cd/m2.
The viewing angle is very good at a 170 degrees on the horizontal and 160 degrees on the vertical.The maximum resolution supported by this monitor is 1680 x 1050 and the picture is excellent at that resolution,take it from me.Response time is a fast 5ms.The monitor itself can be tilted back on its stand by roughly 20 degrees.I installed this monitor in under 10 minutes (plug and play) and all was working well with no dead pixels using Windows Vista Home Premium.

The monitor bezel is very neat being about 1"inch wide around the screen and is silver and black in colour.Games are quite stunning with this monitor and so far I've no complaints and experencied no ghosting,bleeding, distortion so far, tested using Trackmania Nations Racing Game.Text is quite sharp and smooth.

It has 5 menu buttons underneath the front right hand side of the bezel. They are On/Off, Auto Adjust, Menu,Increase and Decrease, theyr'e quite small but easily accesible.The onscreen display is easy to understand and the menu is easy to use.Picture quality is excellent with whites which are extremely white and blacks which are deepest blacks.

DVD movies were made for this widescreen monitor and are simply brilliant.If you want to use the HDMI digital interface then you will require a HDMI cable, type will depend on your graphics card. My Graphics card is an Xpertvision 8500GT Sonic which requires a dual-link dvi cable to hdmi. I would acknowledge that Images were crisp and sharp over both HDMI and VGA connections.Warranty for this monitor is 3 years.

Minor points to note with this monitor are firstly the speakers they are quite tinny sounding (1W x 2)but what do you expect,I wont be using them and instead will hook up 5:1 cinema surround speaker system.The power on light is a bright blue illuminated G which is situated at the bottom right hand front side of the monitor and can be a wee bit of a distraction, nothing much but something worth pointing out, I must say it dosen't bother me much.

You cannot go wrong with this monitor as it works great right out of the box and its everything I hoped it would be and much more.Its quality at an affordable price especially for a widescreen TFT. I highly recommend this monitor and urge you to grab it at this price as its sure to increase.
