I recently bought my laptop from PC World, at the time I couldn't afford to buy it out right so they set up for me to pay for it on a monthly basis, of course this was through the good old HFC.
I was given what I think was a rather steep interest rate by HFC, I think the rate was around the 20% area, all I know is that I got a £750 laptop and im paying just over £1000 back over 4 years.
Only last week I received a phone call from HFC and they were basically offering me a loan for £1750, I was so tempted to take it but that's not the point. I was told that if I were to settle the payments for my laptop I would not have to pay the interest meaning that I only had to pay around £700 and have £1000 for my self. The man on the phone was the best salesman I have ever come across and that is because he was nothing like a salesman, he seemed more of a friend trying to introduce me to something new.
Also with HFC I have always been in touch with what is happening, I have always had the paperwork for anything to do with my account, I have always had phone calls to assure that I will be able to pay this months bill and if I couldn't make this months date would I like to make a double payment next month or just move the date by a day or two. I do feel that this could be special treatment at the minute because they new that I was unemployed and I did have a little difficulty with one of my payments.
I have had the same experience with another finance company and they have just been really demanding and bossy down the phone, they should work at NTL they would fit in well there, lol.
All in all what I am trying to say is that HFC have defiantly got my vote, they are great customer carers, they are sensitive, understanding and normal people with feelings, and none of this salesmen giving you grief to try and persuade you in to buying. If you feel that you want any type of loan or something I would recommend them 100%.
A few years ago I bought a stereo & speakers for my car. I was offered an interest free credit agreement through HFC, which seemed acceptable at the time, & so started paying the minimum £20 a month. However I wasn't told just how high the interest rate was after the 6mnths (I know, I know, I should have asked) & so after 2yrs of paying over 27%, I eventually found myself with just one payment left.
I then received a call from my local branch (which ... ...a flexible loan at a 'special' introductory rate of 14% for 6mnths. This was actually a good offer, as I used it to pay of my other store cards, which had double the interest. My total loan was just over £1800. Later that week I received my paperwork, which indicated I had a credit limit of £2000. 'Huh, where did that come from' I thought, at no point in the meeting was I made aware of this actually being an account. As far as I was aware it was ...

Advantages: Very friendly staff, who knew what they were talking about, no pressure. Disadvantages: There is only one branch near to where I live!
...into the local branch of HFC the monday following and explained the reason for my cancelled direct debit and saying I wanted to pay the missed payment and set up a new mandate. The young woman I spoke to asked if I was interested in reducing the intrest rate on this load as I was on the high rate offered by the retail finance.
An appointment was made for the next morning. When I arrived I was made very welcome given a coffee ect.
After discussing ... ...only my lap top but my outstanding car finance which due to my husbands past credit problems was on a very high interest rate. The result was I walked out 90 minutes later with a cheque to settle my car finance, my lap top on a lower rate and cash (my fridge freezer having broken down the night before) for £2 a month less than I was paying before over the same period of time. I was also offered a credit card.
I wasn't pressured into anything I didn't ...

...received a phone call from HFC bank. I had bought a computer on hp and the 6mths interest free credit had run out. HFC were offering me a loan to pay off the computer and also pay off my credit card. They asked me to come into the branch for a meeting. Very bewildered I went in the next day. I went in taking with me payslips from the last 6mths. At the time I was working two part-time jobs. They accepted me for a loan for £1500, a loan that they ... ...too easy.
They also encouraged me to take out a 5yr life insurance policy. Then they hit me with it, after everything was signed I found out that the interest rate I was paying was 27.9% !! What!!
I had that loan for a couple of years not strong willed enough to not take money out anytime it was someones birthday or I was going on holiday. The interest I paid ate up my monthly payments and at the time I couldn't afford to pay off any more.
The ...

...said they'd give me loan. HFC suddenly said they'd kindly reduce APR from 25.9.
My bank then didn't give loan. On hearing this HFC amazingly couldn't reduce rate anymore.
I had to seek debt payment plan. All other creditors froze interest. HFC doubled £9,997 I owed them.
Yes it's my fault I'm in debt etc but this is nigh on theft. Debt chasers call unaware of agreement at all hours. Obviously the one you give details too in day shift doesnt change ...

...a few credit agreements with HFC and thought that their interest rates were quite high. But i phoned them today for a personal loan and they were most helpful, they took all my details over the phone and explained different options to me. They also offered me a 2% discout because i'm an existing customer. In fact their rates are about the same as natwest which surprised me. Anyway it's nice for me to write something positive for a change, they are ...

Well orginally Marbles was going to be the 'first' internet credit card but Egg got in first!
Marbles is issued by HFC (Household Finance Corporation) BankPLC, a large American company.
Marbles has been around for about 3 years now and has some very attractive features.
It has an Interest Rate of 14.9% on purchases and you can get an introductory rate of 1.9% fixed for 6 months. This gives a blended interest rate of 13.4%.
At this point I better explain what blended interest means!!
Those chaps at Trading Standards decided in their wisdom that we were all being ripped off by credit card companies. We couldn't work out for ourselves that an APR of 0% fixed for 6 months would not go on for ever. So they have made the credit card companies introduce a blended interest rate. So if you have a 1.9% intro rate for 6 months ...
