I recently bought my laptop from PC World, at the time I couldn't afford to buy it out right so they set up for me to pay for it on a monthly basis, of course this was through the good old HFC.
I was given what I think was a rather steep interest rate by HFC, I think the rate was around the 20% area, all I know is that I got a £750 laptop and im paying just over £1000 back over 4 years.
Only last week I received a phone call from HFC and they were basically offering me a loan for £1750, I was so tempted to take it but that's not the point. I was told that if I were to settle the payments for my laptop I would not have to pay the interest meaning that I only had to pay around £700 and have £1000 for my self. The man on the phone was the best salesman I have ever come across and that is because he was nothing like a salesman, he seemed more of a friend trying to introduce me to something new.
Also with HFC I have always been in touch with what is happening, I have always had the paperwork for anything to do with my account, I have always had phone calls to assure that I will be able to pay this months bill and if I couldn't make this months date would I like to make a double payment next month or just move the date by a day or two. I do feel that this could be special treatment at the minute because they new that I was unemployed and I did have a little difficulty with one of my payments.
I have had the same experience with another finance company and they have just been really demanding and bossy down the phone, they should work at NTL they would fit in well there, lol.
All in all what I am trying to say is that HFC have defiantly got my vote, they are great customer carers, they are sensitive, understanding and normal people with feelings, and none of this salesmen giving you grief to try and persuade you in to buying. If you feel that you want any type of loan or something I would recommend them 100%.
My meaning of HFC:
Honest Friendly Competent

halifax have been marvellous for my loans. they are always willing to put the loan up a notch if you need the extra amount which is handy but not so handy as you pay more interest!! :( x
