HMV The Three Letters For Me.

It's a Saturday and you jump out of bed, funny how I just crawl out of bed any work day but today is mine. Not sure what to do so I think I might just log on to ciao to see what to review. And sure enough I see those three letters HMV are there so I shall get the bus into town and give it the once over. Before I log off I check out the latest review by Beatlesgal25 as that young talent writes a mean review. Enough waffle let's go to HMV.

The bus stops just outside HMV and out I hop, I don't really hop, just one of those silly sayings. Then shout "Thanks" to the bus driver, nobody does this and I think it's really bad manners, the guy has a stessful time in that traffic and it doesn't take much to thank him.

This HMV store is just so massive and even the front window is a joy to behold. It's plastered in posters showing all the latest offers and all the new releases in the dvd and cd charts. I quickly move inside as I can see a beggar with a tin out of the side of me eye approaching me, not that I am not a generous guy, it's just that he stole that tin of me. Cheeky Beggar !!

When you step inside the store you are hit immediately with the sound of music and the sight of fellow music and film lovers. I take the long aisles in with my eyes and gaze up to the upstairs floor and then at the long sales counter where four members of staff are busy serving. I am almost frozen to the spot as I decide which part to look at first, I love this place as it's got everything that I could want. "Get out of the road will you", says someone pushing past me, but let them rush I prefer to savour that moment before I browse the place.

I go straight to the long row that contains the dvd offers for that week, and it's 3 dvds for £20 at the moment. I have got great bargains in this section including "Fight Club" and "Sea Biscuit". Just beside this section is another row of reduced dvds usually around the £6.99 mark and if you know what is popular on ebay you can make a few pounds as well. I picked up a rare copy of "I Spit on Your Grave" for £5.99 and sold it easily on ebay for £14.99 so do browse ebay before going to HMV.

They also have a bargain section in the video box sets and again if you shop on the right day you can pick up a box set at a quarter of the price. Although the video seems to have had it's day and the dvd seems to be the big seller these days.

Can' really see any bargains so I will move over to the top singles and top albums section. They are both well displayed and the section is really tidy as well, the staff quickly replace a cd into the right spot if someone misplaces it. I don't buy a single as I think they are overpriced and usually only buy an album when it is reduced. I do however like browsing and speaking of browsing a stunning blonde in a short denim skirt is heading to the upstairs section, guess it's a good time to go upstairs myself I think.

Upstairs and the first thing is a long layout of paperback books and most of them are on offer.

Personally I never buy paperback and much prefer to buy a hardback copy. But I do like to browse this section and again it's really well set out, the books are up to date and the prices are tempting even to me. I flick through a couple of books and if I like it I will make a mental note to buy it in hardback. On saying that I am currently reading the Brian Clough story which I bought in here for a great price.

Take a short walk over to what I suppose can only be called the gamers section. X Box, Playstation and PC games and again the layout is just fantastic. Having an X Box I check out the latest titles and also make my way to the corner where they have a machine where the usual kids are displaying their skills playing the latest game. I would have a go myself but why show them up and spoil their only pleasure in life.

Posters in the corner along with an offer on Calendars, who buys a calendar in May anyway. I buy mine early as I have time in my hands.

I normally spend at least a half hour or more in HMV but I am feeling a bit jaded so decide to go back downstairs and buy my daughter that cd she was asking for. Go along the letters until I get to G and pick up the latest Good Charlotte cd and make to the checkout to pay for it.

On a Saturday they have four members of staff serving and you rarely have to wait that long but I am hoping that I am served by that Angelina Jolie lookalike. It's my turn and she waves me over and I hand the cd over to her. She puts it into that HMV bag and asks "Do you like Good Charlotte then, I love them myself." "Yeah they are actually my favorite group and I would love to see them live." And so we get chatting but then she receives a message on her mobile, so she says "Sure maybe catch you again." I say sure if you give me your mobile number I will give you a ring and she smiles writes on a bit of paper and drops it into the bag with the cd.

Outside and the morning air hits me full on the face, and yet again I have enjoyed a Saturday in HMV. And not only that I have the number of that Jolie lookalike. Just get my mobile out and key her number in, just get that piece of paper out. Hang on this can't be right, surely not, written on the paper are the words "Get a life you saddo". Oh well think I will go to the café round the corner and treat myself to a pork pie.
