I would just like to write a review of HMV, a shop that I used today but in my option is probably one of the better shops to use for entertainment style products.
As it is coming up to my dad's birhday, I asked him what he wanted - hoping that it was cheap or not too bad on the old pocket. He stated that he wanted Lords of the Rings, and as we have it only video he said that it would be good to actually have it on DVD.
Having already been in to HMV previously this week in order to look for another item (for which I did not actually buy for whatever reason but anyway), I had actually in fact noticed that they sold this item - in my mind, I had £10 for the triple box DVD set.
As I went in there to the store today, I went to the place in which I had originally seen the item in question. However as it was not there, I spent some time in looking for it in the immediate vicinity. Noticing that I was actually in a spot of bother, one of the members of staff came over to my aid. He asked me what I was looking for within the shop, on telling me he actually took me to it - I had only been about 2 feet away from it!
On a closer inspection, the item was in fact only £15 (a fiver less than I thought), but it was reduced down from £50! With yet another closer inspection again, I discovered that there was an endless number of items reduced more than likely because this is a new store (it having been taken over by from the Zavvi chain - i.e., post Virgin) so therefore no doubt having a number of offers in store as a welcoming gift for regular (and/ or new) customers!
Once I actually got to the till, there was only one other customer who was actually in front of me - he was being attended to already by the young man on reception, who was doing all he could to help this gentleman. But as soon as he had finished attending to him, his attention was then transfered immediately on to me.
My concerns could not have been any more paramount to him, as it was just like I was an old friend to him. My aspirations for my purchase could not have been any more personal to me than his own, as he asked me if this was all I was buying; anything else I wanted help with, even if I wanted to have a bag.
In the past (this time was also no different), I have noticed that the staff in HMV will do whatever they are able to in order to help you out. Even if the item is not in stock (this being a rarity), they will even offer to order it for you. People may disagree with me, but this has in fact happened to me before now - I cannot say for other people.
In terms of returning an item, the same stands as per any shop - 28 days in order to return an item in its orginal condition with a proof of purchase, etc.
In all, I did in fact have a plesant experience - one, that I hope that you do so also experience.
