So what's it got and is it worth it.

My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista.

The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home.

Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting.

The screen is 15.4 inches with WXGA Brightview technology.

There is a wired network adaptor as well as a wireless connection via a Broadcom 802.11 b/g, allowing complete mobility around the home or office.

We trialled this laptop in the home, using it for small business needs. We installed Office 2007 and Microsoft Expression Web to develop some web pages and download some photo's from the internet. Most of the internet connectivity was using the wifi adaptor. This proved to be reliable, we never lost a connection and at times we're around 50 feet away from our router behind 2 closed doors.

We weren't able to put the CD/DVD to test but the screen and graphics stood up to it when we butchered some family photos and published them to the net. The unitis very comfortable to use, a good size keyboard, not too large or small and the keys were well spaced other than some of the notebooks we've come across this year (reviews to follow).

I enjoy listening to music, the speakers are the usual laptop tinny standard but the sound using earphones or a headset is brilliant.

All ni all a good started laptop to home an small business use, not much more. It comes at a reasonable price although options arent greatly offered.
